I don't believe McNabb is done as a QB, but I do believe he is done in D.C.

I would be very surprised if he is back next year, and according to his contract, it would make me think that the Redskins would not think twice about trading him off before next season begins.

We all can agree that Rex Grossman is not the answer either. Although he had some good moments, he turned the ball over way too many times, and that is not getting it done either. What was it? Six TDs to ten INTs, or something like that?

Then again, if an improved offensive line, and two solid running backs in the backfield, who knows? Maybe Rex would shine in season two? Maybe even McNabb IF he did stay? Either way, either guy, they are nothing more than stop gaps until the 'skins draft another QB with franchise potential.

Rex definitely is not the long term answer.

7 TD to 4 INT this year

4 lost fumbles though

Those numbers sound better, I will go with them! :)

It will be interesting come April!

Extrapolated to 16 games:

4,715 yds, 37 TDs, 21 INTs, 21 fumbles lost, sacked 43 times, 32 rushing yds

Probably would still wind up equaling a 6-10, maybe 7-9 record, albeit with more points!

So you're saying he'd set franchise records for passing yards and TDs? Championship!
Jason Campbell started his career with a team run by Vinny Cerrato and Danny Boy Snyder.

Now he on a team run by Al Davis.

I wonder what the next point on that career arc might be...
I think the bottom line is JC was better than any QB the Redskins had on the roster in 2010. Frankly it surprised me. But nonetheless he has every right to call out the franchise...it's ownership and front office was an embarrassment to the sport throughout Jason's tenure. Whether that will change still remains to be seen.

...I will say things have worked out better for JC than I expected. He's on a better team (talent wise certainly and probably overall) now and considering the severe lack of QB talent in FA and the draft he's likely to play football for several more years. He should sit back and smile :)

Only Dallas could be worse than Oakland.
I don't see anything wrong with his statements. He was the scapegoat. The team had a circus organization, decimated with injuries, had a poor receiving core, had no feature running back, and one of the worse offensive lines in the league, yet he was expected to take them to the playoffs. Unrealistic. I said it then and I'm saying it again, Campbell was not the problem. He needed a better supporting cast. Getting McNabb was a waste. Campbell would have done the same job and that third round draft pick could have been used on a position player that could help the team in the long run. Now the Skins have to rebuild at quarterback, all over again.
Nailed it! I couldn't agree more. :food-smil

Campbell was not the only problem. But it's not like he was without faults. Whatever, what's done is done. Time to move forward

I rooted for JC this year, and I also rooted for D. McNabb. The offensive line was a big big problem while Jason was here, yet Jason got the blame, so I think he's right about being the scapegoat. Donovan could say the same thing and there were a lot of problems with the offensive line while he was the QB. So Jason was the scapegoat, just as Donovan was the scapegoat this year.

I will say this. The O-Line was obviously a big problem. However that was little excuse for McNabb to have the type of year he did. I remember during the Titans game when he had all day to throw yet he still couldn't hit receivers in stride. The worse play being on the interception to Galloway over the middle of the field after McNabb stood untouched in the pocket for somewhere around 7 or 8 seconds right when we had been driving down the field. And this wasn't one of those plays were Galloway wasn't at fault.

Also keep in mind McNabb was coming off a year where he had a 92 QB rating after 13.5 games with 35 sacks. Yet this year he posted a 77 rating in 13 games with 37 sacks. It's not like his time to throw was a radically different compared to last year. Maybe it was the system, maybe it was the fact that Desean Jackson was replaced by Santana Moss, but he didn't have a huge drop in quality when it came to pass catchers.

Anyway my point is if McNabb was the QB we thought he was he would have been able to do a bit more with the situation he was in. He might not have posted a 20-10 3,500 yard 8.0 year, but his numbers and the offensive production should have been more respectable.
