I wasn't saying I like Clausen...just that he has outworn his welcome elsewhere and is a young QB.

Instead of Gomes we could have nabbed Yates or Enderle in the 5th round. Perhaps we should have done that.

Yeah whats up with the NEBRASKA love? I think we should have drafted Mallett and still do.

Mallett's character red-flags were obviously pretty serious. Serious enough that a top 10 talent fell into the 3rd round. So even if he wasn't an alleged coke-head, what is it about a 6'7" statue of a QB that fits Mike/Kyle Shanahan's offense?

^ Matt Schaub fits KS offense and Rex isn't exactly mike Vick.

Schaub and Rex both have pretty decent mobility. Mallett has stone legs.
Umm Jared Allen, Clay Matthews, Justin Smith are all white and are all damn good DE/LB's.. Clay may be the best OLB in football outside of Ware.

I think Kerrigan is a solid player but a guy that has limits due to his speed, he's not a great athlete either. I'm thinking a Kyle Vanden Bosh type guy
This is all AFTER they proved themselves. What were the views on these players right when they were drafted?

BTW, Vanden's Bosch's 40 time was a 4.76. If we're considering 40 times, Kerrigan is a better athlete than Vanden Bosch.

What is a cow without legs? Ground beef? What is a Mallett without Redskins? A cokehead that ain't in burgundy and gold baby!!!

I don't get why people wanted him so bad. He has such bad character and its obvious since so many teams passed up on him. He has zero mobility and is not a good fit for this system.

People just start spouting off they want QB's just for the sake of having a QB because we have a need. You've wasted a pick if you get a QB that doesn't fit your scheme, especially one with a coke background and a bunch of red flags.

Other than his arm, I don't see anything else that makes Mallett an attractive candidate to our team. I don't think we can deal with players with character problems and we have a mediocre line. It is obvious that Shanahan believes that we don't need to address our QB situation through the draft. I do hope he has a plan to deal with this situation.

Barnes, Hall, Otogwe, Landry, Orakpo, Fletcher, Riley, Kerrigan, Carriker, Bryant, Jenkins. I think that is a pretty solid defense. Need to build some LB depth and hopefully resign Buchannon. Neild will form a nice little rotation with Bryant.

Hankerson, Armstrong, Williams, Lichtensteiger, Cook, Hurt, Capers, Cooley, Torrain, Sellers, Beck/Grossman. Let the young guys play on the O-line and see who we can keep going into the following seasons. I really hope Malcom Kelly can play this year, i still think he is going to turn out being a good asset. And i think the guys we drafted are going to be great slot receivers.

I'm not concerned we didn't draft more than one OL. We have youth at the OL position.
I'm still concerned about our O-line... I trust Shanny, but is Rabach still our starting center? He is turning 34 this season. Or is it Licht/Will Montgomery? Can Cook ever break the active roster? And Jamaal Brown - he's a free agent and probably wants a left tackle contract/money. I hope he stays, but if he leaves we're really screwed.

Just saying - our O-line has moving parts as always, and seems as unstable as usual. Would've like to see a few O-line drafted every year.
We never should have let the great Rich Bartel go. Or your boy Chase, for that matter. Maybe we'll get someone like Devlin once FA starts.

Or Jimmy Clausen... :)
Don't throw in the towel yet on Clausen, he was in a pretty bad situation last year. He's undervalued now and could likely be brought in for a late round pick in 2012 (or maybe AH...j/k)I'd be happy to see Clausen in B & G with a year to sit behind Grossman/Beck.

There must have been some pretty BAD red flags. Someone on one of the Networks was talking about how coaches would send him to the board and try to tire him out and they just couldn't do it. Apparently Mallet loves football as much as he allegedly loves to party.

Re: Redskins Draft Analysis Thread

I give our overall draft a B.

Trading down for extra picks - A+

Kerrigan - I'm warming to the pick because of the strength of our front 4 pass rush in nickel/dime situations. I would've went with Cam Jordan though. B

Jenkins instead of Paea - D

Hankerson in the 3rd - A

Helu in the 4th instead of Ballard - C-

Gomes instead of an interior OL that fits our scheme like Vandervelde, or a versatile G/T like Demarcus Love. - D

Royster - C
Robinson - B
Thompson - B
Hurt - B
White - C
Neild - B+
Niles Paul - B
Who knows how truthful Shanahan is being. And VY is mobile and has a very strong arm, he would fit in just fine
Physically he would fit fine. From a mental and emotional standpoint, there lies the huge problems.

Well, let me clarify. Do I know if guys like Lichtensteiger, Cook, Capers, even Trent Williams will become the answer(s) along the OL?

No, but at least we have youth to work with and develop along the line. We don't have that at QB
