There are 64 starting CBs in the league. Dhall is arguably not our #1(and we have secondary issues)...so he is halfway between a #1 and #2, his ranking would be likely be somewhere in the 30-40 zone.
So I will go ahead and say it..Dhall is the #35th best CB in the league right now. He is worse than almost all #1s and better than most #2s
But talks trash more than any of them. |
I hope though that he puts his money where his mouth is this year, plays smart and kicks some ass though.

Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
checks the history bubba, i ALWAYS supported resigning carlos, and also said he was the best CB on the market for us when he left. he couldn't catch, but he could cover and tackle, so whatever.

Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
At this point, there's nothing new left to say about Hall, good, bad, ugly, or alien. This is a Redskins issue exclusively, and has been for quite some time.
Hall recently admitted himself, he is not a great CB. Unfortunately he is the best CB on the Redskins. So I will continue to support him as long as he's here. With that said, I do believe he has the tools to be great. HTTR!
Josh Wilson is our best CB. |

Is anyone else even close? Hopefully Jackson continues to play well at safety, Thinking about this more, the Giants don't seem to value the secondary that much either, it's all about their front 7. I'm not saying we are anywhere close to that Front 7, but we aren't bad either. |

Thomas was hurt last year. I wouldnt say they dont value it because they have spent quite a bit of money and draftpicks trying to sure it up over the last few seasons. Alot of injuries in their backfield. |
Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
The entire time D.Hall has played here, he's played with a make shift secondary either at the opposite corner or at safety. Not making excuses, I'm just saying.
And from what I saw of Asomugha last season, he wasn't all of that. In fact, he get dusted on more than few occasions. |
Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
Hall will be playing free safety this season as opposed to a strict CB. It will take a little time to adjust but once he does I believe he will have more INT's and a better angle of attack to tackle. The position shift will utilize his speed and size more efficiently.
Instead of getting torched one on one as he tends to do, he will now have the advantage of reading the defense and positioning himself in the heart of the offensive movement creating more surprise INT's as well as fast closing tackles.
Sounds like a great plan actually..a ballhawking CB that's now able to sit back and just go after the ball instead of trying to cover someone one-on-one. I'm calling it. He'll have 9 INTs this season. |

LOL..as we go onto page five of said thread. |
Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
sure, he gets burned, but it seems to usually be by an elite wr.
i'm glad hall is on the redskins, i'm a fan of his play. not a fan of his pay, i don't think he plays up to his contract |
Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
I will say this, my misplaced passion for Hall is a classic example of how someone as brilliant as myself can be off once a year and forums like this help moderate my fandom.
Although I've been talked off the ledge, I still think Hall's better than 34 in the league! C'mon man! Don't make me started another D.Hall thread! |
Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
The problem I see at FS is his tackling, and nothing in pre-season really seemed to reduce that concern. If we are counting on him being that stopping point guy, we are in a world of hurt.

Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
I mentioned it and posted the stats in another thread, but Hall is near the top of NFL in run stops and tackling efficiency by a CB. He's a good tackler most of the time, but I think his coverage skills cause him to miss too many tackles on passing plays. Also, we LOVE to completely destroy him on the internet when he does miss a tackle, so it's getting extra attention.
I think moving to FS and putting in more of a position to make stops instead of covering a WR 1-on-1 will really help his game. He's one of the better run-stopping CBs in the NFL and playing FS will allow him to get similar angles on WRs on passing plays, instead of trying to catch them from behind. http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/02/12/2011-tackling-the-cornerbacks/
In addition to the perfect tacklers there were other corners who showed well in run support with just a single miss despite a large numbers of tackles in the run game. The Titans’ Jason McCourty was way out in front in this regard–one miss despite 32 attempts–but Washington’s DeAngelo Hall (not known for his work in the run game) also missed just a single tackle in his 23 attempts.
MEANWHILE...
No corner missed more tackles this season than Ronde Barber’s 22. In fact, no corner came within five of that mark as Barber went toe-to-toe with teammate Tanard Jackson in the race to lead the league in misses.
We really do beat up on Hall more than his play merits. We knew he was a playmaker when we brought him in to complement a great coverage corner who couldn't catch a ball to save his life, Carlos Rogers. There were a perfect complement to each other skill-wise...one can cover, the other can create turnovers. Now, I do realize most of the scrutiny on Hall is due to his high salary and I can't disagree with it for that reason...he should elevate his game to earn his pay. But, I'm glad Hall is on this team most of the time. He has single-handedly won us more than one game since he's come here. He can fire up the whole team with his play at times and there's no one on the roster who can replace him right now, so just accept he's a Redskin and get behind him. |
Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
^^ The issues with his tackling are clearly overblown as indicated by PFF. He's actually a good tackler for a corner.
