So either they cant cover for a short amount of time or the pressure wasn't getting there. Whichever one it was is a big problem.

Not sure what the league counts as a "hit", but he was definitely knocked down more than twice.

According to the stats the Eagles had no hits on Cousins. That makes no sense.

This hit for example was from Kerrigan, but he had no hits in the stats

IMO we got some good pressure. The fail was Kerrigan. He was good and got in a few licks. But he was matched against a 3rd string tackle. He should have DOMINATED. Although Kerrigan has been playing well so it is hard to knock him, sometimes you need a player to dominate his matchup and Kerrigan didn't. Getting close wasn't good enough for him - he should not have gone sackless.

I believe this is one of the hits that Orakpo is credited for. You can see he gets there slightly before Kerrigan.
A QB hit is defined as a play when the QB gets hit while throwing or immediately after throwing the football.
No idea to the subjectivity of how they gauge it.

I would say Kerrigan got there a split second before Rak on that one. can't pause the GIF, but if not before certainly simultaneously.

Here is the thing. If Philly is going short passes and your DL/OLB KNOW they aren't going to get to the QB in time, shouldn't they be getting their hands up? That's a coaching issue.

Nothing fickle about it. Philly was missing quite a bit from the OL. There was no excuse as to why we couldn't get the same type of result from the Philly game. At least 1 or 2 sacks with a banged up line. Nobody said the coaches/players were clueless, but the job didn't get done. So it's either one or the other. Is it the players? .........Is it the coaches? It's about consistency. It's about adjusting. Philly adjusted we did not. For fucks sake man, they scored 37 points on us. That's not the mark of a good defense.

Re: Our Secondary

I wonder if they played the Eagles differently, respecting McCoy/Sproles' ability to take off if they went after QB & missed.. That combined with Foles' ability to get rid of it so quickly..

I suspect we may regain our form against the Giants. If we stop the run as in past, score quickly with Cousins & team, and force Eli to pass --- the Dline may be able to have a field day with their shaky O-line. I'm looking for Kerrigan & Hatch to come back with a vengence..

What. You mean respecting the teams two most dynamic players abilities might slow down a pass rush a split second? I scoff at you sir I scoff at you.

Re: Our Secondary

Going in to the Eagles game, everyone was keyed on not letting the McCoy/Sproles tandem kill us. And we did. They had something like 22 yards rushing, and it was the WRs (Maclin especially) who killed us. We had a fair bit of pressure on Foles, but he got the ball out fast, which is the mark of a quality QB. I hate to say it, but I came away from the game convinced that Foles is not a one year wonder - he got hit a lot (and a few times pretty hard), and he kept getting up and throwing. He was impressive.

I think the point here is the quick release made generating sacks and more "hits" (however gauged) harder to come by, and our secondary did not do a good job of defending passes. With Hall out, we will have to see whether the new guys (Breeland, Minnifield, Porter) step up or get stepped on. And we will know in 48 hours.
