What an effing debacle. I turned it off after captain int threw his 4th. Looks like we're heading toward yet another long season.

Not a bad season though, just not a "particularly good season. "
Thanks JR!

The ints came after we got behind, because our defense cant stop anyone but the jags, even if we had the broncos offense.

Cousins played great against Philthy, we lost because the d gave up more than 30. Cousins played bad against NJGiants, we lost because the d gave up more than 30.
Im not sure about Griff catching traction. He certainly wasnt catching it against Houston. For a very short time he seemed good against Jacksonville, but KC also looked like Superman and Colt McCoy probably could have beat that team also. So...nice thought but ehhh.
Honestly in the Texans game the WRs let RG down... Niles dropped pass would of went for a TD and there was another key drop. RG didn't lose that game for us. He was overly conservative, I grant you that.

We blew $11million of our cap space on Orakpo, when we had desperate needs at safety and right tackle. That was a terrible mistake of our FO. Not the end of the world though.

1. we should have upgraded RT

2. we should have upgraded FS

3. lauvaua - still too early but people questioned the signing and his play (i know he didnt play last night)

4. the criticism that cousins just throws the ball at a receiver (aka chucking it up) when under pressure was on full display last night

5. penalties are killing us. im guessing we will be top 3 after week 4.

6. haslett banked on bringing pressure so his weak secondary wont be exposed ..... where is the pressure haslett?

7. ryan clark's "leadership" was lacking on the field last night

8. the team was unprepared and had a hang over from the eagles game

does gruden change things up? does he work the players harder?

im interested to see how gruden handles his first stretch of turmoil.

this is not the end of the world. we all expected 8-8 or worse. we will win some games going forward. i fully expect us to go 1-1 against the seahawks and cardinals. but the play of some players are hard to watch (rak, polumbus, secondary).

he has a pension to .. just posting this for informative purposes.

"The NFL is an organization that rewards the number of active seasons in both their pension and 401k plan. The pension, which players become eligible for at age 55, gives them $470/month for each season they played. A player with 4 seasons would get $1880/month starting at age 55, for the rest of their life. However, each year inflation is eating away the value of those pension dollars."

Re: Giants Game Negatives
Unfortunately I have to agree. Somehow the culture of losing remains strong despite making changes with the coaching staff. Is it a coincidence that this is the case, or perhaps the losing starts at the very tip top. Frustration is at an all time high, and words really can't express how I feel as a lifelong Skins fan and former season ticket holder (moved away from the D.C. area).

I think I am just tired of hoping so much, only to have the team continually underperform. Or perhaps I just expect too much from a team that really doesn't have what it takes. Defensively this is definitely a real possibility. I think our performance last night and the weeks prior (minus the Jacksonville game against the DIII Jaguars) proves that Jim Haslett's ability to put together and lead an elite defensive in the league is gone. We run around the field as if we are chickens with our heads cut off; running hard and in the wrong directions. There is no discipline. Can we please just admit that the defense needs new leadership!

With regards to the offense, well, I have to admit I have been a proponent of Kirk Cousins since I saw him in the preseason his rookie season. I've never fully bought into the RGIII hype, and have been calling for Kirk to get an opportunity ever since his rookie year. With this being said, I think we can forgive the bad performance last night, but what worries me is Kirk's demeanor on the sideline, and his subsequent inability to rally the team when things went from bad to worse. We need leadership, and we are obviously not getting it from the coaches, so someone has to step up, and it really should come from the quarterback.

This team is just like the teams of the past decade and a half, full of potential with a pension for underperforming at all costs. Is it too much to ask for a little consistency and a team that plays together? Where does this lack of discipline and culture of losing stem from? Can it really be the coaching staff, or does it start at the tip of the spear? We all know the owner is the person calling the personnel shots with regards to the coaching staff, and perhaps Jay Gruden is the right guy, but for some reason the cancerous ownership that is Dan Snyder will always prevail, preventing any possibility for a consistent, championship level team.

I wish I could just look the other way and avoid watching, because this would save me a lot of heartache and frustration, but I am a diehard and have been since I was a little kid. You can't help who or what you love, and I just can't help that I am a diehard skins fan, I just wish we had the right leadership at the top, in order to trickle down the organization and lead us in the right direction. Until this day, I will forever be the gulliblefan!
a fish rots from the head down. what has about 15 years of Dan Snyder as owner brought us?

Re: Giants Game Negatives

Cousins has a mental aspect to his game that I do not like. Can he make some throws sure...

Can he handle a rush or pressure... NO. That is a huge problem moving forward and he does not have that it factor it takes to be a continually successful career.
He is what he is a 1-5 QB in games he has started and more importantly 2-1 as a guy coming in as a relief. That's it folks. He is a good backup but not a long term answer as starter

Moses was drafted for the RT, takes times

Philip Thomas should be promoted from the PS, anyone know how his foot is?

Haslett gots to go!! Promote Baker to DC, this clown has had 5/6 years with the same results. Enough is enough.

Re: Giants Game Negatives

I like Orakpo, but let him walk, he is not worth what he is going to ask for. Let Murphy start next year. 2nd round picks should be starters in year 2 anyways. We need a #1 cornerback. After week 4 that's what I'd take in round 1. Hall/Amerson/Breeland would be ok as 2-4.

We need to draft/sign 2 new starting safeties. Basically we need a complete overhaul in the secondary.

For the love of all things good in the world cut Polumbus this week and let Compton or Moses start

Perry Riley needs to be replaced. He is just an absolute statue in pass coverage.

And most importantly we need RG3 to play a full 16 games un 2015. I think he is the answer still, but gruden needs to be able to find out for sure if he is our franchise QB.

Re: Giants Game Negatives

Last night’s game didn’t show Redskins fans anything they shouldn’t have already known. We’re a terrible team. For the most part, we’ve been a terrible team for over two decades. There have been few bright spots, among them 2012. So one would naturally think, well, let’s look at that bright spot and build on it. Well, the biggest bright spot was RGIII, and so many of us don’t want the Redskins to build on that. Really? After two decades of sucking, we can’t wait a few more years while a young QB develops?

My recommendation to the FO (and the fans) would be this: it’s going to take a while to turn things around, but at least we have things we can build on: a talented receiver crew, strong TEs, a pro-bowl LT. Everything else is basically garbage. Okay, so we work on building that up, on developing guys like Amerson and Breeland, bringing in a new DC, allowing a rookie HC to take his lumps. We need to identify a core strength, build on that, and most importantly have patience. I posted in the pregame thread that this Giant game scared me. Why should any of us be surprised that a perennial contender like the Giants embarrassed a perennial loser like the Redskins? Why did we think we were so far removed from the 3-13 team we were 9 months ago? Why, after more than two decades of sucking, are we constantly shocked when a single offseason didn’t turn us into a dynasty in the waiting? It’s this loss of perspective and terrible impatience that has often plagued our front office, but has I believe more recently been the reasoning behind those wanting Cousins over RGIII.

It’s no guarantee that RGIII will be great. But demanding a complete overhaul after every bad season is not going to solve any of our problems. And our problem isn’t QB. It’s the defense, it’s the offensive line, it’s the lack of depth across the roster. Truly turning around this team and making it good will take time and patience. We’re going to have to expect and endure a lot more failure and have faith that the core of guys we have now can be built around. And I think it can happen.

Re: Giants Game Negatives

If we wait a few years to develope Griff will Trent still be a pro bowl caliber LT? Will Jackson and Garcon still have their speed? We know the shelf life on RB's so will Almo still be great? IF and thats a big IF Griff can stay healthy we dont have a few years. We need him or KC or whoever to be good next year or all these pieces we have will be bent and broken.
