Jeez what happened to all the people crying for Palmer to get some playing time??
He was bound to end up on the PS anyway.
At least Palmer's taking all the heat off of Brunell. :) |

The secondary... Well.. Lets just say, thank god for the 1st string starters.
Fox might be gone. |

Brown, white easter, or hard-boiled? I'll bring Brunell with me...he'll hold the basket! |
I say we egg palmers house.
Yeah. We should hunt him down and be like: "Damn you Palmer for being a 6th round pick straight out of college and now we put you into the last pre-season game with almost zero practice and you suck? Consider yourself cut." :Flush: |
Re: Skins v Jags chat
Seriously lol. Like I said, most of these guys won't be on the team after Saturday. We are most likely gonna see Palmer hit the practice squad and stay there for 3 years.
Palmer was a wasted pick. I know he is a rookie, but you expected a half decent outing. Shit this guy isn't practice squad material. We needed to draft the best DE available. I bet if we did that guy would be in the thick of things. Waste a pick on a bum QB that won't graduate from the practice squad. What a gip!!!!!!:Flush: |

Re: Skins v Jags chat
Blades is tearing it up!!!!!!!!! He was a diamond in the rough for sure!!!!!!!

It doesn't look like Collins will have a shot at the #2 Qb position....otherwise, he'd be playing

Another TD for the Jags
31-14 Jags. |
Re: Skins v Jags chat
Yuck. It's getting ugly now.
|
Re: Skins v Jags chat
Oh well guess I might have spoken too soon about Fox, but he still might get the axe regardless.
|
Re: Skins v Jags chat
Joe Theismann is a redskins legend but he sucks as a broadcaster. I know its been discussed before but I never realized it until now. All he talks about is "Well I had a chance to sit down with Coach Gibbs, or whoever, and we talked for an hour, an hour about the improvements coming into this year, an hour, we talked for an hour."
|

It didn't get ugly till the backups started coming in. If this was a real game I think the Jags would've got pwned. |
Re: Skins v Jags chat
Boy, our 3rd string team sucks....just plain sucks
|
Re: Skins v Jags chat
Why is it that when it's scrubs vs. scrubs, nobody shows up, steps up and stands out for the Redskins?
These guys are playing like they think it's past their bedtime, and they just want to go home. |
Gus,

Pray we'll never have to use them. It's gonna be a long season if we do. |

You're ready to make this conclusion on 7 passing attempts?? What do you think a rookie 6th round DE would be doing? |

Are Trucks and Blades both gunna make the team? And if so, that would mean we would carry 7 LBs (unless the cut Khary Campbell)...and it would mean Sartz would be on the practice squad |

It's gonna be a long season if we do.
Might be a long season regardless. All hinges on how CP is. JC is sharp, but he is only half of the equation on offense. No depth at all in the DB. If Smooty, Rogers, or Springs goes down we are screwed. We honestly did end up wasting a pick on Palmer. A 6th rounder is never a keeper at QB. |
Re: Skins v Jags chat
Who was that just getting iced up at the shoulder?
|
Re: Skins v Jags chat
At this point, I am thinking they want to get an extended look at the conditioning of the Defense to see who can handle it.
They've got tough cuts at LB....That explains why they keep Palmer in...they know it is 3 and out every time. Its all part of the Grand Plan! |
Re: Skins v Jags chat
They could use the film....remember....no 3rd string work in 2 weeks!

You might want to run that by Tom Brady. |

Gus, excellent point on 6th rounder never a keeper at QB.... Remember, we all wanted a guard or dline or something....anything at a need position |

What do you think a rookie 6th round DE would be doing?
He would be fighting for a starting job on the Washington Redskins most likely, at the very least as a 2nd stringer. Why do I say this? Simple supply and demand, as well as the nature of the position. DE is probably easier to pick up than a QB going on to the pro level, plus the fact that we are in dire need of youth and the speed that comes with it(DE position). It is a higher probability that a 6th round DE could be better than Wynn than say a 6th round QB is better than JC or even MB for that matter. |

Never? Are you sure? Have you heard of this guy, I can't quite remember his name, I think it's like Tom Brady or something, either way, he was a 6th rounder for New England in 2000, and from what I hear he's a pretty good quarterback, won something like 3 Super Bowls or some crap like that. All I'm trying to say is that you are expecting too much out of Palmer. EDIT: Damnit Matty you beat me to it lol. |
Re: Skins v Jags chat

Thats like saying we should have kept Bramlet cause NFL Europe generated a couple good QBs....you know this is RARE....very RARE. And the Redskins scouting dept aint gunna be the ones to find them. Top 2 pick for the skins are the only ones that seem to do anything. Blades might be a good story for us...but that is not a stand alone position like a QB |
Re: Skins v Jags chat
Finally this massive beating is over.
I agree people are crapping on Palmer too much. The guy's still a kid. He didn't really practice all that much prior to this game. Of course he's practice squad fodder this year but if they decide to keep him around he could develop into a pretty good QB or at least a decent backup. But to expect him to come out and throw bombs and TDs is expecting too much. |

Blades might be a good story for us...but that is not a stand alone position like a QB
Guess who was a 6th round pick in last year's draft and is now the #2 defensive tackle? Guess what tight end we drafted in the 3rd round of 2004 and is now one of the best tight ends in the league? Guess what running back returns kicks for us and is also the 3rd string running back that was drafted in the 7th round in 2002? Guess what undrafted player has started at left tackle for all 4 preseason games and is most likely gonna make the squad as a backup at left tackle? Do you get the point now? The Redskins are not absolutely horrible when it comes to finding talent in the latter rounds of the draft. |
Re: Skins v Jags chat
You're ready to make this conclusion on 7 passing attempts??
What do you think a rookie 6th round DE would be doing?
I also base my statement on the fact that Gibbs waited til the last game to put him in. No way he could vie for a spot with only a half under his belt. Just drafting a guy for the practice squad is moronic, at least if a DE was drafted the kid had a much better chance of making the team and contributing on the field. How does Palmer help out on the practice squad? Gibbs needed to give the kid a taste week one to get him wet and give him time to get something going. I just think drafting a kid to go directly to the practice squad is a waste. A draftee should be able to vie for a starting job or at least give you some solid depth. |
Re: Skins v Jags chat
Game over.
Thank Goodness! At least our 1st and 2nd string offense could move the ball. But I'm disappointed in Palmer. Blades is ok, Mason is solid. I dont know jack about our Dline though. Too bad we'll never know how Collins would fare as a backup QB. I was hoping to see Brandon Lloyd do something...anything. Time is showing that he aint improving. ARE?....about the same as last year. The only real difference is our LG issues, MLB improvement, Safety improvement, nickle improvement, and questions about Portis. All in all....moderately better than last year, Defense probably ranked 10-15 this year. Offense about the same. Playoffs would be nice...we'd have to avoid all injuries. |
Re: Skins v Jags chat
No depth in the DB is going to be our major Achilles heel.

Don't forget Mark Rypien too. |
Re: Skins v Jags chat
The back-ups played well enough to make some cuts easy. Looked like they all just wanted to go home.
