Re: Training camp 2011 thread
Will Montgomery on taking over at center: "I'm very confident. This offense is tailor made for me .. inside and outside zone.
|
Re: Training camp 2011 thread
Good to hear, hopefully he's right. A Center emerging from the guys we have now would be huge...the line could be solidified with the only question mark being Kory L. at LG. Chester should be good at RG and the tackles are solid.
We might finally have a competent line! |
Anyone reading anything else besides redskins.com and redskins insider for training camp updates?
Chris Russell and Grant Paulsen do a pretty good job with updates through Twitter. |
Re: Training camp 2011 thread
I'm thinking Trent and Brown will be good on the corners. But I think Will Montgomery is the X factor and could be the lenchpin to the offensive line. If he performs well or exceeds expectations, I could see us having a really good shot at the playoffs.
I know that sounds like a huge leap and putting a lot on one position so early, but if your center performs well that's one less mental thing your QB has in the back of his mind and the running game is usually clicking more often than not. |

Yeah, Grant's all over it. He's tweeting real time, getting some really good player interviews and getting them on the net pretty quickly. |

Don't know if this has been posted elsewhere but was an interesting read ... most discouraging is Santana's opinion of Beck as just another guy throwing to him, not exactly high praise. On the flip side, Silverback's lost some weight, Hankerson's looking decent and some other good news. Last but not least, it seems like a foregone conclusion that Los will leave so any news on that front? |

You don't need to actively tweet, in fact you don't need to tweet at all. It just makes it a little easier to search for news and navigate if you sign up, but then again you don't even need to sign up to use twitter. However it's always nice to follow someone like Adam Schefter and being able to see his latest updates on my homepage. In the end it's easier for rumors and little tidbits to search on twitter then it is on google. |

IDK, maybe that is how Moss is but I was kind of hoping that our #1 receiver (presumably) would be a little more excited about the guy throwing to him |

From what I saw, he was mostly sidelined. He did however do some sprints with a resistance band. Cool dude, he came up after an interview to sign a bunch of stuff for the fans. Seemed like a good guy. |

I didn't see any, but that would be funny lol. I was tempted to ask him about his monkey if that makes you feel better. |
Re: Training camp 2011 thread
Bob Stoops was on the radio today in OKC and said "The redskins have 2 of the elite Tackles in the NFL and TW was the best O Lineman he's seen in years" That's a great sign from one of the smartest coaches in football

Wish someone could clear this up. |

From what I saw, he had two deep balls. One seemed to perfectly reach Armstrong in stride. Armstrong just botched the catch. The other was slightly under thrown, but hankerson made an acrobatic catch, fought with the db and pulled it in - albeit out of bounds. Beck had some really solid, accurate intermediate passes, and some awful ones. Particularly two consecutive d. Hall interceptions. |

Shameless self plug, I do light aggregation for the skins media and players on twitter so chances are if you check my feed a few times a day you'll catch mostly everything When I started it was overwhelming trying to follow everyone and decide who was worth it so I decided to make it easier for the less socially adventurous |

I have a Twitter account but I honestly don't log on at all nowadays because it's such a bother figuring out who to follow to get info from. I'd rather just come here and see what's happening with the 'Skins because breaking news gets posted here as fast as anywhere else. |

That's a positive spin on our crappy QB! It was funny, he had a pretty good line during an interview shortly after practice. When asked about the interception, he said "it was like picking cherries." |

Just listened to the Cofield presser at Redskins.com, talk about articulate and focused dude. Really impressed.
Funny that Bowen said the decision to sign Cofield made his decision to come here a little easier. Two good moves by the Skins. |

Especially when accuracy and timing (when his release time as a "pro") is an issue? Hopefully he can pull it together, it has only been week one, but kinda tired of hearing about who Shanny liked out of college, how about pro scouting and who we like NOW |

D.Hall doesnt suck??????? LOL Be real my friend... He is absolutely terrible in coverage & makes and is making nearly 10 mill!!!! |
Re: Training camp 2011 thread
Didn't we already go over this with D.Hall? He's a gambler. He makes plays and gives up plays. It's the nature of how he is. On a good day he can seriously impact games in a positive way for us (Dallas and Chicago last year) and on a bad day he can give up big plays (that Manningham td in Week 17 last year). He's not horrible but he's not great. But does he deserve a starting role? I believe so, because his good and bad plays balance each other out.

Re: Training camp 2011 thread
Regarding the Santana Beck comment... in my opinion ... unless clemmens comes in and wows the pants off of everyone.... Rex will be our starter ... IF .. Mike can swallow his pride.. IMO Beck will not be crisp enough to beat out Rex. The big question is if Beck does poorly if preseason.. does shabby swallow his pride? Does gettin set his ego aside? Will the best qb REALLY win the job? That my friends... is what I am watching the most in this coming month.

Re: Training camp 2011 thread
And I know this was asked before ... but is a 3 hour drive and maybe a hotel stay worth it for 2 days of camp?? .. and realistic what time would I want to be there? ... I don't really feel like dealing withe crowd on fan day or is that day much better than a normal.day? ?

I remember him dropping some easy ones. He needs to be more consistent if he's going to make this roster. |

NFLSkins
Mike Sellers drops a rope from Beck. Maybe I am wrong about Sellers. Perhaps he is on his way out? |
