He started with a 14-2 team and slowly has driven it into the ground. IMO he has done about as bad as you can do with the talent he started with. His teams don't play hard until they are self motivated...like at the end of a season when it's do or die or in the playoffs. He's absolutely awful awful awful...and I am shocked that of all places he gets defended on a redskins message board.
BTW, that 14-2 team never won a playoff game. With Norv driving them into the ground they have won 3. I'm not saying he's a great coach (he's mediocre) but he sure isnt awful. |

Calling Norv mediocre is an insult to all the mediocre coaches in the world. AWFUL...AWFUL...AWFUL. He took over for Marty who was alergic to a playoff win...but if a compitent coach were hired instead of Norv they would have won a Super Bowl by now. He's a coordinator...not a leader. |

Or as Greg Blache would say, he's like a stripper. LOL!
If Norv keeps getting 2nd chances, why not someone like Mornhinweg? They still have McDaniels on the payroll right now right? I wonder if they're keeping him around for plan B.
If this happens, I hope he runs Bradford out of town (so we can get him) in search of a QB that fits his system. |
Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
I dont think Norv has ever had a sub 500 season in SD and has won 3 playoff games which is 3 more than Marty Schottenheimer ever won there. Nobody is going to confuse Norv with Vince Lombardi but its not the like guy has been completely inept in SD. Norv's problem is that he doesnt seem very inspirational or a kick you in the a$$ motivator. SD made the right call keeping him on as head coach.
In Turner's first year in SD, the team won it's division (11-5) and won two playoff games; In his 2nd, they won the division (8-8) and won one playoff game; In his 3rd, they won the division (13-3) but no playoff games; In his 4th, they had a winning record (9-7) but didn't make the playoffs In his 5th, they had a .500 record and didn't make the playoffs... Hmmmmm. If I am a Charger fan, I'm thinking it's pretty clear where they are headed next year. |

Rich Kotite? No, that's a tough one.. I can see someone like Haley resurfacing there or maybe Tom Cable. After the Morris tenure I don't know if they go the unproven coach like Todd Bowles or Brian Schottenheimer. |

Agree , Lets just hope we find a qb that works out . I could care a less where we draft him or where he goes to school . Great insight SS , as always . |

I say Billick to Miami and Fisher to Bucs

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
I feel drafting a QB high is the best course of action to take. I'm getting tired of this franchise signing other team's QBs. Jeff George, Brad Johnson, Mark Brunell, Donovan McNabb, Tony Banks, Todd Collins, etc. Out of all of these QBs, only three of them have guided us to the playoffs. And none of them have taken us past the division round all in a 12 year period.
So, it's better to draft a QB. Have him study your offensive system, and build the offense around him. The Redskins already have very good pieces on offense. |

It won't be Landry Jones; he's staying.

Thank God! We didn't need Patrick RamseyII. |

Wow, the QBs keep falling off the list. I am seriously beginning to think it's going to come down to RG III or a QB in free agency.

Which coach do we root for to get the Rams job in hopes of trading for Bradford

I would expect fisher to be the best coach. Didn't smoot mention that he had interest in trading Bradford, signing orton and collecting picks? |

I don't think that's quite what I said. Regardless, with no Landry Jones the Rams asking price will be insane for either #2 or Bradford. I think they stay at 2 and take Blackmon |

That means my mock i posted in the "and with the 6th pick" thread is one step closer to coming true! Edit: After reviewing my own mock I had Khalil going #2 to St. Louis and Blackmon going #3 to Minnesota. I can see the two picks going either way between the two teams. They both need both positions. And that just means we are one step closer to getting the pick we want, some of us... http://www.thewarpath.net/873076-post240.html |
Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
skinzwin, if cleveland has a shot at RG3, they are selecting him, we have to trade with minnesota or st louis to get him. No way cleveland doesnt want him. I think we might have a 2 or 3% chance of getting him, which is very low..........I say we end up with either Bradford, Foles or Tannehill next year. Those are the three I am expecting to throw the ball for us next season, and I give the edge to Tannehill.

Now wait a second. Brock osweiler declared for the draft, IMO he's better than Landry Jones. He's 6'8 too. |

I know it's not the most likely outcome, but if Holmgren decides to stick with Colt, they really really need a RB and Trent Richardson is a beast. Maybe my desire for a top tier QB factored into this mock? Call it wishful mocking. |
Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
The cost is high to move up, I still say that we should do it. RGIII is a rare talent who can change the dynamic of an offense.

The Hoyer to Redskins buzz is heating up. I don't know much murre than that right now

I'd give up a 4th for him. But I'd definitely hate for the Redskins to fall into the trap of overpaying for someone else's qb backup. How many of those have been worth what they've been traded for lately? |
Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
Only if they can get Hoyer for around the same price of Beck. This guy is an unproven player like Beck. Who knows how he will turn out on the feild.
Is there a chance that Browns pull what we did last year. Trade down with us to grab picks while we take RGIII? |

Most mock drafts have the Browns taking Trent Richardson the explosive running back from Alabama. The Cleveland front office hasn't given up on Colt McCoy. They mentioned bringing in competition in the offseason for the QB position. It doesn't mean that they will draft Robert Griffin. Based on other teams needs, there's a good chance that Griffin will be available when the Redskins pick at #6. Even if the Redskins wanted to trade up, Minnesota would be better suited to partner with than the Rams. |

I certainly don't see why there would be any "buzz" about him. He hasn't done anything as a pro. I'm not sure if he's a UFA or a not, but if he isn't, I can't imagine his asking price would be anything more than a 6th rounder, if that. |
