A great player will fall to us! Hell I was thinking we can probably trade back with San Fran since they are trying to get rid of picks and they can get a TE like Ertz or Escobar and we can get a couple of additional picks and maybe the whole Swearinger/Rambo/Mathieu crowd can all be happy! |
Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors
Even though we did not have a pick in round one, seeing the Cowboys choke and squander their pick made it worth watching.

Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors
Just an FYI, Kiper and Scouts, Inc (McShay) both did Round 2 mocks. I'm not too pleased with the way it shakes out. Since their both Insider articles, I'll post some highlights:
Neither one has Cyprien or Swearinger falling to us and Kiper even has Shamarko Thomas coming off the board before our pick. The picks? Kiper: Kevin Minter
He can start next to London Fletcher and eventually take over for him.
I guess he forgot we have Perry Riley and Keenan Robinson. I don't see us taking an ILB this high. Scouts, Inc: Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State No explanation from Scouts, Inc. I'm more intrigued by the Banks pick than Minter, obviously, but I feel like I'm going to be sick to my stomach should neither Swearinger or Cyprien (who is almost guaranteed to be gone) fall to us. Another quick highlight: Scouts, Inc has the Bengals taking Tyrann Mathieu at 53. I found that interesting. |

Neither would I, honestly, if things go the way Kiper has them, I'd probably like that pick. I like him at safety, if he can keep his head on straight. I also recognize that is probably a huge if. Hopefully, a year away made him hungry. I was actually thinking about the Banks pick and thinking that maybe Hall could play FS part time next season should we take a CB in round 2 and not find a guy who can start at safety in round 3. I'm just gonna put it out there. I love Baccari Rambo. I want him if he's available in round 3 |

Just because a player isn't viewed as a need in our eye, doesn't mean they aren't a need in that teams eye. Also supposedly we aren't high on Banks, because he's a cover 2 CB and we play man and cover 3. |

Also, I'd say that 129 tackles from Riley is pretty solid, so saying "he has yet to take the next step in production" might be a bit of an exaggeration. Also, the Dolphins pick was a bit of a head scratcher, much like the rest of their terrible to mediocre offseason. If we make a similar pick to that, not saying Minter is similar, I'm not going to be very happy |

I still think we may go WR. Especially if Cyprien & Swearinger is gone.

Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors
I remember when they made this format change a few years ago, I thought this second day would be an intriguing day, as every team can catch it's breath between the 1st and 2nd round. It would not shock me to see a lot of quick snap trades in the works if certain players fall early on. I still don't know what player I am most hoping for, but in the end, I just want our FO to be on top of things and not looking like lost puppies, or kid show hosts.
|
Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors
I know weŽre in the mode of Ždraft picks are goldŽ but IŽd see if Cyprien/Swearinger are still sitting at around 42-46 I'd see if someone would take our 2nd and 5th for their 2nd or if Wheaton or the right WR falls if NE would give us their own 2nd round pick (59) for our 3rd and 5th. That way we'd potentially pick up two starters and since we have an extra 5th, we would still have a full draft class.

Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors
I agree sometimes its worth a late pick to move up.

This should help out in signing our draftees.
@granthpaulsen: RT @ZacBoyer: #Redskins have restructured Josh Wilson's contract and will save $2M against the cap this season, according to league source. |

Or Orakpo's extension.

Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors
We're drafting a WR for sure...we just lost Darius Hanks.

QB Tyler Bray (Tennessee) in orange bubble for vandalism - Throwing beer bottles and golf balls off balcony and smashing car window. |
Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors
Here's a thought - draft Matthieu in the 3rd Round and use him as a corner, safety, ST returner, and on Offense. That would fill at least a couple of needs- including adding some speed and a playmaker to the offense. Just a crazy, creative thought.
|
Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors
In a way I'm relieved Matthieu was not available when we came up to pick. Thrilled with Amerson anyway, and less risk off the field. We got our DB in Round 2.

Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors
How is Phillip Thomas overrated if he was never mentioned with the elites in the draft?
|
Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors
I just dont think he is good, idk almost all the ints i have seen him get they are all lollipop throws and gimmies. I wanted swearinger, i like duke williams and shamarko better than rambo, jefferson, and thomas.
IMO must address safety and pick up a speedy rb and a RT tomorrow. |

OK, some people think he is overrated although him in the 4th or 5th round is perfectly rated and no "expert" has even brought him up on either day. You think he sucks which is fine. I would take Duke over him too but I don't think he sucks and I feel he will be a solid safety in the NFL. To me overrated is unnecessary hype brought to your name when it is not deserved. He hasnt received any hype at all, other than the fact that the Redskins are his favorite team. |
Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors
Yeah I shouldnt've used the word overrated. I'll just say im not a fan of his game. Just think there are better FS's Williams, S Thomas, Rambo.
|
Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors
I can't wait for day 3 of the draft. I want Phillip Thomas.
|
Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors
I wouldn't take Phillip Thomas before the 5th round. Not that I don't like him as a player, ironically enough I really like him, but we already have enough players with durability concerns. Don't need another one.

You must be referring to his leg injury from the year before. Thomas didn't have any injuries or recurring injuries last year and he's not an injury prone player. He was originally projected to go in the 2nd round but he hasn't been drafted yet do to his 74.1 grade at the combine. If he would have graded out at 80 or 82 he would have been drafted by now. He was worthy of being a late 3rd round pick and the fact that he's still available going into today bodes well for the Redskins. But someone might draft him before we pick again. |
Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors
I wouldn't take Phillip Thomas until round 6.
If you watch how he plays against the likes of an Oregon, he was lost and getting burned constantly. He to me is a sub package guy and special teamer. I known Mayock loves him, but I don't. |

This kid was drafted by Andy Reid and the Chiefs. Good times ahead in KC. |
