Re: Draft talk round 1
The pats are great at pick stockpiling...not as good at picking really. But they're approach is better. The NFL draft is about making as many picks a possible to mitigate risk
Makes it pointless to stockpile picks if they don't draft well (which surprisingly they haven't in the past couple of seasons). |
Re: Draft talk round 1
some are guessing Crypen and Elam both going the last 2 picks in the 1st on ESPN
|
Re: Draft talk round 1
YAY a CENTER!!! for Dallas!
|
Re: Draft talk round 1
And Dallas takes a C. Yes!

Nope. |
Re: Draft talk round 1
YES! Way to go Cowboys!
|
Re: Draft talk round 1
hahaha.....Mayock is stunned by the Cowboys picking a guy who he had a 3rd round grade on. GG JERRY!!
|
Re: Draft talk round 1
Crap...ELAM gone
|
Re: Draft talk round 1
Well poop.. I was hoping he would fall.
Now I want Clay |
Re: Draft talk round 1
Elam gone though
|
Re: Draft talk round 1
What a depressing final 2 picks those were.
Travis Frederick is going to be a great NFL player (I'm also a Badger, so I may be biased), and then Elam. Yuck. |
Steal of the 1st will be alec olgetree. He's a beast. Rams had a great night
|
Re: Draft talk round 1
I knew none of the top safeties would last. Still good value out there for tomorrow.
|
Re: Draft talk round 1
I still think Tayvon Austin was a bad pick.
Just a tiny little man. A slot receiver in the top 10 is a bad pick IMO. |
Re: Draft talk round 1
Poor Geno Smith. Came all the way to NYC only to get his ego thumped, now he's going home with his tail between his legs. Told Suzy Kolber he wouldn't be coming back tomorrow.

He needs to learn how to face the media after a disappointing situation. |
Re: Draft talk round 1
I would offer one of our 5ths to Cincy for Gresham.....

saying he wont come back may further hurt when he is picked....certainly shows poor sportsmanship |
Re: Draft talk round 1
Are 2nd round picks 5 minutes each or 7 minutes each?

sooo funny. The dude looks like he's 50...He's got the LeBron James/Greg Oden old face thing going on. |
Re: Draft talk round 1
Well I was shocked that:
- Miami traded all the way up to #3 to get Dion Jordan when they have Wake, Oderrick, and Vernon. - EJ Manuel was the first QB taken - Miami gave up so little to move up, yet New England got so much to move from the very end of round 1 to round 2. - Manti and Geno didn't go in the first round - Minnesota wanted Cordarrelle Patterson over Manti - Elam still went in round 1 (lots of talk that he'd fall to round 2) - Kyle Long going in round 1 - Shariff Floyd a top 3 pick fell all the way to Minnesota. - Eifert went to..The Bengals?? (I guess they aren't high on Gresham or Orson Charles) - The 49ers traded up to get...Eric Reid, whose stock was supposed to of been awful lately (like 3rd round awful) -The Jets picked Sheldon Richardson, a projected 3-4 DE, and already have two other studs there with Muhammed Wilkerson and Quinton Coples...smh - Saints going with Vaccarro when they have Jenkins and Harper; must expect him to play SS - The Colts taking Werner was a bit surprising; guess they think he can play OLB - The cowboys panicing and picking the wisconsin C. God that's another awful pick. Other observations and notes I had: I liked the Raiders, Rams, Ravens, Panthers and Vikings picks. I hated the Dolphins, Jets, Lions, Bills, and Cowboys picks (well, I like Dallas's pick in a good job at sucking pick) Did Bjoern Werner give his girlfriend a hickey or something when he was picked?!? I was right about there only being 1 QB and No RB's in the first round. I was wrong about Elam going AFTER Cyprien. I was also wrong about 25 picks in my mock. The 7 picks I had correct were (KC Fisher, Jax Joeckel, Arizona Cooper, Tennessee Warmack, Carolina Louteleli, Green Bay Datone Jones, Denver Sly Williams) Lots of talent on the board for us to consider for tomorrow: - Arthur Brown LB -Keenan Allen WR - Cyprien S - Swearinger FS - Hankins DT - Jesse Williams NT - Ertz TE - John Jenkins NT - DaMontre Moore OLB - Gavin Escobar TE - Manti Te'o LB - Khaseem Greene LB - Kawann Short DE - Logan Ryan CB - Johnathan Banks CB - Darius Slay CB - Robert Woods WR - Alex Okafor OLB - Hunter WR - Travis Kelce TE - Menelik Watson RT - Jamar Taylor CB - Poyer CB - Patton WR - Blidi Wreh-Wilson CB - Minter LB - Barrett Jones OL - Da'Rick Rogers WR - Armstead OT - Corey Lemonier OLB - Bailey WR - Hunt DE - Johnathan Franklin RB - Shamarko Thomas S - Bennie Logan DT - David Amerson CB - Schwenke C - Terrance Williams WR - Ellington RB - Alford CB - Randle RB - Jordan Mills OT - Nico Johnson LB - Brandon Jenkins OLB - Brandon Williams NT lots and lots of talent. And I didn't even mention Phillip Thomas, Bacarri Rambo or the Honey Badger. |
sooo funny. The dude looks like he's 50...He's got the LeBron James/Greg Oden old face thing going on.
Guy had career 7 sacks and was a top 10 pick? Smh. This draft is all??? Teams are just hoping these guys work out. |
Re: Draft talk round 1
Lol I cant believe the Cowboys reached like that. I think they expected guys they wanted (K Long, Pugh, Reid, Sylvester Williams) to still be there. I dont think they anticipated SF to move up to take Reid.

Yeah they had been saying Dallas wanted Reid or vaccaro. Overall I think we'll look back in a couple years and only find a few guys that are really good pros. And I believe most are lineman. I'm still surprised Manuel went so high. |
Re: Draft talk round 1
I can't get past the EJ Manuel pick...what a terrible decision. They genuinely scared they couldn't get him in the 2nd?. What a waste of value
|

I loved when the reporter asked them if they got short changed on the trade based on the draft chart. Jerry didn't even answer as Jason and Steven jumped in to save his ass. To top it off, Steven had the audacity to say he got better than what the draft chart projected. :laughing2 I'd be furious if I were a Cowboys fan. To have a owner and front office to sit there and lie right to the fans face about the trade value when everybody can plainly see they could have gotten more. The New England trade with Minnesota showed that. |

I think that you are correct, which would make the Dallas strategy a boneheaded one. Was it really that hard to guess that SF would use its many picks to try to replace Goldston? |
Re: Draft talk round 1
What I read on Cowboys boards, Cooper, Womack were the first targets and were gone. Pugh and K Long were the preferences at 31 and they were gone. The Center pick was a panic pick. love it

at around the 16:50 mark JJ, while defending the pick, said that their pick had been able to adjust to schemes even when they changed coaches after the first game. I would love to know what went through Jason Garrett's mind as JJ said that. |

Garrett is getting 3 mil per year, he's just happy to be there. |

Agreed. Even if scared, trade down and pick up the extra pick. Even if you fire sale it (see Oakland), get what you can. Who was picking a QB after them? All the teams needing QB's are at the top of the draft - tonight, we could get 4 or 5 QB's in the first 15 picks. |

Yeah, I hope Smith is sitting there when we are on the clock. |
Re: Draft talk round 1
We need to figure out how to keep JJ alive forever...he is a menace to that team. They will never be actually successful with him at the helm. What a s*** show he is.
