Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread wk 1
You are right, I worded it wrong way. I guess I should have said this, Williams and Davis got suspended for marijuana, not PED thus they should not be included in the list since the title is "Redskins move into tie for PED suspension lead". Whichever reasons players get suspended for, is always big deal. I just don't believe that using marijuana should merit suspension but that is different story and it is not right kind of discussion in this thread.
To be clear, 8 Redskins suspended. 5 for PEDs, which ties Seahawks. Coincidence that the Redskins and Seahawks are two of the hottest teams in the NFC??? We'll leave that discussion for another day |

Yes but 3 of those players are not on the team anymore. If all of those players are still on our team then I would be concerned. But they are not thus I'm not too concerned about it. It is somewhat alarming that it happened during their tenure with the team, but we chose not to resign them so we don't need to worry about them getting caught again. And not to mention, Black claimed that he was a scapegoat for NFL office. So you're saying David Stern and Roger Gooddell are one and the same. Rigged, I tell ya. |
Skye Dawson, one of the UDFA's we signed after the draft. Heard good things about him, but will probably land on the practice squad if anything. If he makes the team, it will most likely be because he is a good KO/punt returner.
If he has good hands he looks like he would be more useful then Aldrick. Aldrick is kind of a one trick pony. |

Agreed.. funny how things work in the NFL.. Funny some of the teams you won't really ever see on that list also ;-) |
Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread wk 1
So John Keim is headed to ESPN as their Redskins Insider. Sweet

Is that something where he will be both with the Post, and ESPN, or does ESPN preclude him from writing for the Post. |
Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread wk 1
John Keim Just started at the Post..thats quick
|
Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread wk 1
He was never really hired by The Post. Well I mean he was, but it was contract work. He's now a full-time (and exclusive) ESPN employee with full salary, benefits, etc.

Happy for him, I was excited that maybe the Post was going to turn a corner in it's Skins reporting, guess they will have to find a different guy for that. |
Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread wk 1
Nice pickup by ESPN. Really nice.

Nice, dude deserves it. He does great work. |
Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread wk 1
He really is my favorite guy around here for Skins content. Doesn't show any type of agenda with his work (positive or negative). Good call by ESPN.

Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread wk 1
I'm kind of curious what it means for Graziano. And just how this Insider for every NFL team is going to work there
|
Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread wk 1
Well like I've said before a lot of key people up in Bristol are Redskins fans, they've been keeping an eye on him for a while

Keim's the best there is for Skins content. Key signing for you guys. I just went from getting around 3 percent of my Skins content from ESPN to likely around 75 percent starting in August once Keim's onboard. Pretty safe to say that the Examiner's sports section going belly up was the best thing that could have happened to Keim's career. |
Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread wk 1
the post has two writers for the skins, one is a dallas fan and the other (sort of - wise) is more worried about promoting himself. and the last guy decided his job was to pick fights with danny over anything and everything he could find, regardless of football merit.
keim is a good hire. ain't nothing else to say on that. |

I would love to see Skye Dawson on the team, but I don't think he'll take Aldrick Robinson's place. Robinson may be a one trick pony, but when he's on the field, defense beware! If Robinson could return kicks, he would be more valuable, and I think we'd keep him around for quite a while, but that's not the case. Perhaps this season, Dawson will be put on the practice squad, and Robinson will have a year to step up and prove himself. |

Probably one of the best writers out there on the Redskins side of things; thus him change jobs is Redskins news. If it warms your heart start a new thread about it. |

I really like this move by ESPN. I guess he's going to be exclusively working on Skins pieces? I'm also a fan of Graziano, so I'm not sure how that's going to work out, but regardless I like Keim and Graziano, so hopefully this is good for both of them. How is this going to work in conjunction with ESPN(city)? We're not going to get our own ESPN-Washington, are we? Or does this mean every NFL team is going to get their own insider? And final question, does this mean we're going to have to pay to read Keim, like he's going to do a lot of Insider pieces for ESPN? |

Yeah, his is much better than Tandler's. I don't like that he left Thompson off in favor of Jamison, though. I think Jamison goes to the practice squad, while Thompson unseats Royster. I was also disappointed that Tandler left Briscoe off in favor of Henderson. Is there any news on Marvin Burdette? |

looking at the insider on wapo, there's no articles by reid there. and maske was supposed to be the NFL writer, not the skins writer, but i guess there's a ton of both on the site. |

Like I did on the first day and everybody made a big deal about that. I feel great.”
in a related note: yesterday morning on SiriusXM, the announcers were hyping the upcoming guest (an orthopedic doctor who has done work with the Rams), and was teasing it by saying that the doctor disagrees with how the Redskins were handling Griffin's return. But once he got on, he basically deferred to the attending physicians, but what I thought was interesting was that his timeline really was about where Griffin seems to be at. He said that his patients would begin cutting and heavy work at the 6 month mark, which would have been June, and at 9 months would basically be good to go, but that it would take another several months for the player to have confidence in his leg. Well, Griffin just has that confidence already, and if he doesn't take a snap in preseason, basically will have gone 8 1/2 to 9 months from surgery to game action. The whole interview just made me feel better about how the Skins and Griffin are approaching this. |

How many times can a knee take an ACL injury before it becomes too many? I'm not trying to inject doom into this thread; I really want to know. |

What's he doing to get himself ready to play 16 games? 7 on 7 and little throwing drills on the side? To me that's going overboard on the side of caution. I expect him to be rusty the first few weeks. We're still talking about a very young player, not an established vet. They should at least let the kid do 11 on 11, which is the closest thing to a game simulation. |
Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread wk 1
I'm just not a fan that worries about Griffs knee like many do. I mean if he tears it again then what? Does the world end? It's sports, I'm hoping he never does get injured again but u cant sit and worry about it all season.
