fter Robert Griffin III struggled in joint practices with New England last week, members of the Patriots organization opined to ESPN.com's Mike Reiss that Kirk Cousins was the best quarterback on the Redskins roster.
Reiss specifically cited Cousins' edge in "running the offense, fine-tuned mechanics and how decisively the ball came out of his hand."

His concluding paragraph:

There are bound to be a few bumps in the road as Griffin makes the transformation to pocket passer, but there's no reason to look over his shoulder at Cousins in the mean time.

It is echoed again in Peter King's Monday Morning QB article.

Go to the last page under 10 things I think.

For the lazy:

Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston isn’t just good on the Patriots. He’s strong on the ancillary things. Such as this, after the Patriots’ trip to Richmond: “One of my biggest takeaways from Patriots-Redskins joint practices was surprise that Robert Griffin III didn’t look like the best quarterback on his own team. In fact, I thought Kirk Cousins was better than him, from the perspective of running the offense, fine-tuned mechanics and how decisively the ball came out of his hand. I wondered if I was alone, and then heard the same sentiment echoed by some others in the Patriots organization.”

To me, Cousins is worth a second-round pick from a quarterback-needy team.

This is just typical media repeating media to make it fact. Peter King didn't add new insight, only quoting what Reiss put out there, which Breer did a nice job summing up in his article.

I like Cousins, but his first pass of the game also should have been an interception, hit the defender in stride in his hands, and our guy was double covered.

Cool write up and good to see the RVA getting some respect with Skins camp. I hope this becomes a customary routine with the joint practices in Richmond, it was nothing but a positive.

Its funny to me how the focus of the writes up was about QB and receivers, and little mention about the fact our 1st team Oline and Dline handled the Pats teams and our running game was stronger the entire joint practices. And then as in the practices, it translated into the game Thursday.

To suggest Cousins is better than rg3 is just media trolling for shit...watch the last four games from last year son.

Re: Around the League...Training Camp Style!

Isn't Cousins performing well in practice a good thing? Why is it that so many fans get so butthurt about RG3 being criticized? To me that means if RG3 doesn't play well we have one, maybe two guys that can step in and perform. Gruden has already said that RG3 "is a work in progress" so it's not shocking that people from the Pats are saying this. In the end who cares? It's a pre season practice where some players may be off a bit. To be fair to Griffin, these obviously were not live practices so his playmaking ability isn't going to show. Is it possible to get to week one before we start the QB controversy? lol.

Lol, good times in Jerry land. Ironically enough I always figured he was single at this point, mainly because of that commercial where he bragged about having a hot tub in the shape of Texas. After all, married guys don't brag about hot tubs unless they want to talk about joint pain. I found another article on TMZ, copy and pasted so people don't have to feel dirty about visiting TMZ. Also can't stop laughing at the fact they took a giant tour bus with the Cowboys logo right on the side to a strip club. It's like they wanted to get caught.

The Dallas Cowboys finally played like champs last night -- not on a football field, but on the Sunset Strip ... where Jerry Jones' son parked a giant team bus outside a nightclub and proceeded to pull a bunch of hot chicks.

None of the Cowboys players were there, but Stephen Jones -- Jerry's son and the team's Director of Player Personnel -- led what appeared to be a group of team staffers into Bootsy Bellows nightclub. Training camp is about 90 minutes north of L.A. ... so looks like they were taking a party break.

Stephen didn't have anything to say about the big Cowboys news yesterday -- an alleged extortion plot involving pics of his father with two women.

But the best part of this clip ... is the scene ON the bus after they leave the club. The Cowboys staff is holding court with a bevy of club chicks ... the shades come down, and then the bus pulls out.

By the way, they did have a guide -- FOX Sports' Jay Glazer, who definitely knows his way around Hollywood hot spots (we see him out a lot in the off-season).

Correct, but after what we gave up for that trade the generally consistence is RGIII better turn out to be elite. In order for us to have a playoff run this year RGIII got be pretty close to elite. This isn't Seattle where Wilson is being asked to be good and the better parts of that team care the load. IMO the team could improve just enough around RGIII that he might not need to carry the entire team. Secondary, Offensive line and covering kicks is not an insurmountable list of areas that need improvement.
Plugging the holes that made the ship sink last year in combination with RGIII improvement (RGIII not having to be elite) could be enough to get us in the playoffs. Our divisional opponents are not elite.

We picked RGIII #2 overall in the draft. While he is young and and in a new system right now, he had better become elite sooner or later. You don't want to spend the #2 pick on a non-elite player.

But I agree with those who say what he needs to do more than anything this year is just win.

You know if Robinson woulda come down in bounds, how different the media narrative woulda been this week?

what ive heard in camp is Rg3 timing has been off with his recievers and his rhythm isnt down yet. Thats just natural adapting to the system.

Im glad Colt and Kirk have played well behind him as well. But what bothers me is the media instance trolling of Kirk vs RG3 comparison. Thats yellow journalism...if you want to call it journalism.

Re: Around the League...Training Camp Style!

If Griffin comes out against Houston, has 250 to 300 yards, a couple td's, has a few back breaking runs for 40-50 yards, then backs that up against another bad team, then all the Cousins talk will go away. That will give him some early confidence to get going early. That's what he was drafted to do and he needs to start doing it against two bad teams with bad QB's. We can't wait around all season for him to grow into the job. The time to perform is now as everything is in place for him to have a great year. Other young QB's are doing it so he should too.

Ill take the win, with RG3 playing an error free game. But if we win and the special teams has 2 kick returns for td and 3-3 field goals, then im gonna get extremely excited.

It was the #2 pick, but there have been enough busts at high qb picks that I am willing to spend the #2 (+the rest) to have stability and good to great play at the qb and go forward building a team around that. Other than G1 no one thinks Eli is elite, but he has two SB rings because he played good to great at the right time. I think Griffin is and will always be, better than Eli, so now it's a matter of:
a) consistency
b) learning he doesn't have to expose his body for extra yards (probably the hardest thing)
c) building the rest of the team.

All of that is doable, and (a) is definitely coachable. My biggest worry with Griffin will be his instinct to get that last yard, even when that last yard might cost him his body.

Definitely. I think both the Giants and Eagles will be better this year, while the Cowboys fall back to around 3-6 wins. JPP healthy will help the Giants a lot, as will a better run game and a more passer-friendly scheme. The Eagles will regress a little on offense, but I think their defense will be better. NFC East predictions as of now? Eagles, Giants/Redskins, then Cowboys. We could easily take the division if RG plays well and a few other things happen.
