Agree. We take this guy. |

There are a lot of good athletes in this draft.

Shelton would be awesome. |
Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
Had a dream we drafted Leonard Williams last night. This would be great
|
Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
Shelton would be awesome.
He would but he's not the only great player that we can grab at five. I'm excited because we have tons of options.

Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
Yea, after watching the combine I am in love with a lot of these beefy and fast defensive guys. If we dont trade down I think we are going to get a nice pocket collapser or edge guy.
|
Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
Danny Shelton is a MAN!! That guy is huge.

With some ups. He beat Leonard Williams on vertical jump. NFL Combine results: Defensive linemen 40-yard dash, bench press and vertical jump | NJ.com |

Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
Randy Gregory... I want that guy or the nose tackle
|
Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
The problem is he is a in the box safety, which h we do not need.
Why don't we need a in the box safety? I thought we need players. If we trade back a little and guys are there that can help the team... Well we draft them. Is cam chancellor specifically an in the box safety? I am not comparing him to cam but we need two good safeties. I am not overlooking anyone because on d we can get better everywhere but lolb. |
Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
Short decent analysis:

Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
NT Danny Shelton
WR Kevin White DE Leonard Williams DE/OLB Dante Fowler Jr. WR Amari Cooper Anyone of these guys would make me happy. If we do trade back, which I don't want, add Landon Collins, Randy Gregory, and Andrus Peat to that list. |
Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
I would hate to pass on a defensive lineman or an edge rusher to take a receiver at #5. If that happens, that receiver better be Calvin f*cking Johnson. Even then, Justin Houston>Johnson.
|

I get what your saying, but in the same case Shelton better be Haloti Ngata if your taken in the top 5. just sayin'...ill take the top impact player at any position at this point, i dont care where |

Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
after not watching the combine but listening to short tidbits from media talking heads ...
i wouldnt mind drafting Jamies Winston. I was strongly against him before, now I wouldnt care. if he has a chance to be a franchise qb, I wouldnt mind taking a chance on him. in scot we trust? |
Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
You would be happy with a receiver at #1?
wtf.....
Did you see the rookie big impact WRs in the league last year? Kevin Benjamin, Odell Jr, Mike Evans, etc...Im saying if Scott McC sees a WR impact player at 5, take him. |
Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
History has shown that you can win the Super Bowl without great receivers but you can't win a Super Bowl without a pass rush.
IMO Give us Gregory, Fowler, or Shelton if we stay at 5. |

True, you would like that, but my point is Shelton wouldn't have to be an elite nose tackle to make more of an impact than an elite receiver. |

Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
This wide receiver talk is just too far out, you guys have been going to the little shops in Colorado.
Whats a wide receiver going to do in Washington? Watch our QB get crushed, rushed and smushed? Watch our secondary chase ghosts? If we draft a WR he better be scoring 21 points a game or its a wasted pick. |

I cant disagree with that |
Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
I would be all for getting a top pass rusher and a NT with our first two picks. If we can accomplish trading back and picking up an extra first this year or an extra second and third this year go for it. There is some D talent in this draft.

Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
Does anybody get a list of who the skins spoke with at the combine? Who interviewd, maybe interviewed twice?
Only guy I've heard was Scherff... Anybody heard? Thanx |

The interview of Marcus Peters is intriguing. First round talent with issues. Could be a nice 2nd Round pick.

Brandon Scherff is on that list.
:joecool: |
Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
The more I read about him and the more interviews I hear, the more I'm liking Danny Shelton. 5 may be early, but I think he can anchor the defense for years. If we're staying a 3-4, lets get a true NT. He has a lot of good measurables, had a good combine showing, and most importantly impressed everyone at the Senior Bowl. NT isn't a sexy pick, but it does make everyone on that front 7 look better!

As Bill Parcells said, it's better to try to take a player a round early than a pick late. |

Before the Combine, SM said that he and his staff would interview as many players as they could at the Combine. So I think that list of players interviewed by the Skins is probably incomplete. I'd bet they interviewed a lot more. |
The interview of Marcus Peters is intriguing. First round talent with issues. Guys like Marcus Peters and Dorial Green-Beckham are super talented. If they could come in and be all about football they would be huge steals in second and third rounds. But if these guys are getting kicked off their college teams how are they expected to act when they get some money? I personally don't think it's a good idea to draft a guy high in the second and he's getting suspended within his first couple of years in the league. This team has enough issues. No more divas. No more weed smokers. No more thugs. No more off field distractions. We need guys who's all about football and nothing else. Marcus Peters is a huge risk.

I'd generally like the Skins to steer away from players who have had off-the-field issues, as well. In the case of Peters, what little I know about his being kicked off the team had to do with his frustration over a coaching change and his poor reactions to that change. I might well be ignorant of any other issues in his case. That's up to the Skins to find out, if they are interested in him. Nevertheless, if the Skins were to take a risk on any player - and I think they should on occasion - it would be for a very talented player like Peters who could become a difference-maker on defense. That is, if he checks out as someone they think they can trust to focus on football and stay out of trouble. |

Being frustrated with teams over a coaching change, is fairly low on my list. Many of these players choose their school based on their coach. If their coach is taken away, I understand feeling betrayed. He was also angry because these changes greatly affect his ability to get a job and just wants the best for his team. I'm not saying it's right, but I understand it. I'm far more concerned with violence or repeated drug issues. While typically I believe in the old adage that a leopard can't change his spots. Remember that a lot of these players are just over 20 years old. There's still a lot of maturing to do for all of them. So they can still be positively affected. Taking selective risk on some character guys could be useful - but they have to really have other traits that can be used to motivate them to stay away from trouble. E.G. the guys who just LOVE football more than the club scene. Although that hurts the skins since we have Wale do our FA visits... |

I'm sure many VT fans here remember who Terry Williams is. Dude was an absolute beast last year on the DL. He wrecked pretty much any OL he face this season, and his absence was a huge reason SC beat ECU early in the year. I'd love to see what this kid could do as our NT. |
Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
I'm in favor of drafting anyone who has a nickname like "Swamp Monster". We need more players with good nicknames. That could be the secret to our resurgence.

The Shanny/Allen era discounted the value of a good nickname way too much. Based on his track record, SM takes that into account. |
Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
On Draft Day, there is a trade I'd like to see and a trade I don't want to see. Both trades would be dependent on Marcus Mariota being on the board when we are on the clock with the 5th pick.
The trade i would like: The 5th pick to Cleveland for the 12th pick and the 19th pick in the first round. I would be nice to Cleveland in the deal and only demand two picks, but they must give us both of their first round picks to move up and get Mariota. p.s. Oh, what the heck, we might as well squeeze one of Cleveland's two 4th round picks out of them, as well. We'd still be nice guys, wouldn't we? The trade I would not like: The 5th pick to Philly for the 20th pick, their second round pick, and their first round pick next year. First of all, I wouldn't want to help Philly in any way. Secondly, this year's Phiily picks are too low. Thirdly, next year's Philly pick isn't likely to be any higher. That would a bad trade all around, IMO. |
