Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread
Colt has a noodle arm and his lack of arm strength would be quickly exploited with him as the starter.
People seem to forget that Keenum did some very good work as the starter for the Vikings the year before the Vikes screwed up and signed Cousins. He would probably be the better choice as the stopgap starter if Haskins isn't ready to start the season. Haskins probably won't start until Jay Gruden loses enough games with Colt and/or Keenum to desperately fear losing his job.
For what it's worth, there was a few reports that Colt's arm seems to be stronger this year.... for what it's worth. |
For the life of me I don't get the Keenum trade, even with Colt coming off injury and not knowing how the draft was going to unfold. I wouldn't have pulled the trigger on that. Like Schneed has in his signature, if you don't know who the best QB of the three you have are, you don't have a QB. I would have been splitting reps between Colt and Haskins 50% a piece, and had some 3rd stringer on the team too, but I wouldn't have traded for Keenum just to have him taking 33% of the first team reps.
Why? We got a veteran backup that can start if needed for $3.5M. At the time we had a bare cupboard at QB coming off a disastrous year at the position. |
Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread
Case will be the starter week 1, just go ahead and face that folks. Dwayne basically said it in his presser yesterday that "I'll start sooner or later"
That tells me that he isn't in the QB1 plans right now, maybe I'm just assuming but still |

I would have just signed someone if it came down to that. Maybe I am thinking too little of Case but I really equate him to that of a 3rd string QB, excluding the one year he had the best WR duo in football |

Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread
This is a really high stakes decision for Gruden. He's got a defense that looks strong and he should be able to run the ball pretty effectively - even with Trent out, Penn is still a decent run blocker, and the rest of the line is back in place.
And of course not a lot of weapons. So you realize that for the Redskins winning will look like slugfests, grinding out defensive battles with small margins for error, winning close games 23-20. Alex was moderately successful in that model last year because he avoided turnovers. He always has. But Colt has always been turnover prone. So that temptation to start the guy who knows his offense best could lead to a couple crucial turnovers that change a game from a 23-20 win to a 26-23 loss. Gruden needs to get Keenum ready to play for that reason. Colt is going to turn it over too much and Gruden will look like a really poor coach for making that choice. And if he can't get Keenum ready, that will also reflect poorly on him. Hopefully O'Connell will show why he's getting hyped lately. |

So she is cute...but dime piece? Don’t know. Gonna have to disagree with your post. Would probably hit and quit tho Probably make her Uber home immediately, she wouldn’t be a sleepover. But I’d let her Uber back to take care of morning wood. |

Yes but they had to move out of the 6th round. Not a huge deal but not worth it IMO. Who knows, that pick could end up being a high 6th rounder. Keenum was going to get released. Why sacrifice draft position for a journeymen QB who was going to get cut? Yes that would have possibly brought in competition for his services but who would we be competing against? Maybe the Cards? Just another worthless, stupid trade by Allen. He simply doesn't know who to make trades in the least bit. |

To me that is a big complement, hope you are right. Fitz is one of those guys that treats every ball in the air like it is his and will stop at nothing to get it. |

Some of us old guys have trouble keeping up with modern slang. I thought a dime was an assist in basketball. I will venture a guess it is what we called a ten back in the day, as ten on the 1-10 scale. |

I completely agree with you. What do we have Case for? He's just a JOURNEYMAN QB who has been on FIVE different teams. Does anyone honestly think he is going to come here and light this place up? Our OL is really in trouble without TW. Everyone can tell me that Penn went to the Pro Bowl twice. The guy is 36 years old!! We're rebuilding our OL, if TW doesn't come back. We're rebuilding or WR group, after letting ANOTHER 1,000 yd slot WR go to another team. Case Keenum keeps Haskins from getting reps. Reps he needs NOW, because as long as Colt is the #1 QB Colt is going to be working with the #1 team. Once the regular season starts, the backup QB gets NO reps at all. Then after we lose five games straight, they're going to throw Haskins in there to keep the fans coming to games. |

We have an excellent defense. We have an excellent running game IF, the OL can make some holes. I'm not convinced the OL without TW is that good. If the OL is in trouble, then we have no run game and our QB, who both are turnover monsters, will be even more prone to do so. Part of the reason all the QB in training camp are having troubles is because of the OL. Not the reason for everything, but the pass rush is a factor with this OL. |

I'm starting to thing that unless Doctson gets his foot problem solved he isn't going to make the team.

I definitely give Kay a 9 , she has a better body than it appears and her face is beautiful. I'd like a little more curves but overall she is fine. I'd take her of Molley Querim any day simply because Molley pissed me off with the Lavar Ball issue, dude is goofy he was not sexually harnessing her.

Kay is definitely attractive, me being a bigger individual, I tend to like bigger girls but I wouldn't say no to her at all. Molly is annoying, Joy Taylor is also beautiful, but with Chico I don't see the point of making her Uber home just to have her Uber back 7 hours later. Seems like a waste of money. |

Realize some qbs get in the league and tear it up immediately, however most flourish while getting used to their team/NFL.

If anybody has a problem with Haskins sitting I'd like to present Exhibit A: A kid who also sat for a year in 2017 and had Alex Smith mentor him. I don't think I need to mention his name, you probably don't belong here if you don't recognize the reigning MVP. |

Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread
The best thing about Colt not playing against the Browns is that Haskins will get more reps. I hope he gets to play for 2 quarters or more. If he starts getting beat up because the OL isn’t protecting him, they’ll pull him out.
He needs as many reps as he can get! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread
Went to training camp yesterday so I thought I'd share a few notes from their last day there but first time I'd ever been. First thing that really struck me was Haskins size...he looked like a TE standing next to Colt and Case! When he throws the crossing route over the middle, his ball just has more zip on it than the others...he definitely has the arm. Doctson dropped a couple of nice balls thrown to him...my hope level for him is all gone. Offense did 2:00 minute drills towards the end...best looking drive they had was when they hit either Davis or Reed on every play right down the field. Holcomb was practicing with the first team D the whole time, he's looking like the starter...he flies around all over the place.
Had the kids with me, props to Haskins, Norman, and Chris Thompson who were the only guys that came out and signed autographs, especially for all the kids...and they stayed for a LONG time afterwards and probably did even more once they went inside the VIP area. Had a buddy that took his kids on "kids day", and the only guys that signed were Norman, Tress Way, and Hopkins...he was really disappointed. |
Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread
So listened to a Redskins report on the junks driving in who was talking about the young receivers.
So he said among the coaching staff, Terry Mclaurin has blown away everyone. When they drafted him, they thought he was a ace special player and a rotational WR. Mclaurin speed and big play ability...he has clearly been the best WR on the field and will start at Doctson position. Cam Sims has been the second best wide receiver. The starters will probably be: McLaurin at Doctson position and P Rich. P Rich will probably be the off the ball WR allowing him not to be jammed at Line. Quinn will be the Slot but they will work Cam Sims in as well in packages to bring size on the outside. |

Im iffy on Qinn...he is already injured again. I hope Gruden doesn't settle for an underproducing, injured player. If our 3 best WR are Mclaurin, Sims and P Rich...both Rich and Mclaurin has slot experience...then Quinn should go to the bench. |
