Things change. How dedicated is he now? This time the more news that comes out this incident isn't on the Redskins, it is on Trent.

Nay, rather have the 1st round pick and the cap space, or just keep Trent.

I had to double check...but Clowney never had double digits sacks. Exactly how much to you pay him?

Well, I think he's due something like 15-16 million this year (the last year on his current contract)...surely we can't afford that without jeopardizing future contracts such as Scherff, et al.

To me this is nothing more than Texans talk. I'd be thoroughly surprised if the Redskins were even remotely considering this scenario.

Sacks don’t tell the whole story, if you’ve ever watched him play he’s super disruptive and someone the offense worries about on each play

Something that I've been thinking about the "medical" stuff. If this was such a terrible issue and there are talks that Trent is considering taking legal action against the team, why isn't the NFLPA all over this? To me, the medical complaints would be some type of work grievance, wouldn't it be? And I know the NFLPA is always willing to stick it to any team and the league.

Do we really need anymore D lineman? That's the least of my worries.

No question he's a great player who would instantly upgrade the defense, but the price and circumstances are not right. Pass.

Curious, what would be the right circumstances???

He lines up at LB for them more so than actually on the DL

True, they need to draft another LT and maybe a LG, +
RG. As well as a TE and WR #1.

I'm moreso hoping our WR unit figures itself out and makes that "need" disappear

More than this year left on his contract. A solution on the left side of the line. A swing tackle who can be relied upon. If you trade straight up for Clowney and get no other compensation (high draft picks as suggested would be the asking price), you are worse off next year than you are this year.

I'm not even sure why this is a discussion. No way in hell this happens...

[quote=Warthog;1226825]The Bruce Allen strategy to fine TW until he returns will NOT work. TW has told friends he will be happy to sit out the season.

The redskins need TW much more than TW needs the Redskins or the money. Although some suppose that we can easily replace TW with Penn, you’re replacing elite with VERY old, average (at best). Our left side of the OL preseason game got TOTALLY ABUSED in PS game one, as well as committing numerous penalties. We just wasted what, $3.5 mill, on Flowers who is turning into a total failure. Why didn’t BA offer that $3.5 mill as guaranteed money for Trent?

Offer him serious guaranteed money or trade him, but playing “chicken” with him will work about as well as it did with Cousins.

if he sits out the season, he does not get an accrued year and the redskins still own his rights for 2 years . . . so in essence they could force him to retire or play for the skins . . . great thing to do for your family trent . . . you greedy prick!!
