Think about it, if the Redskins were in the Eagles position right now you guys would be talking non stop about how we were going to win the Super Bowl. And don't even begin to compare the Snyder spending sprees to what the Eagles have right now. |

Eagles got pretty close last time adding T.O, Kearse, and Trotter. As did the Pats
The offseason also brought the arrival of seven unrestricted free agents to the Patriots. On offense, the Patriots added running back Sammy Morris,[28] tight end Kyle Brady,[29] as well as wide receivers Donté Stallworth and Kelley Washington.[30] On defense, they added linebacker Pro Bowl linebacker Adalius Thomas[31] and cornerbacks Tory James[32] and Eddie Jackson.[33] Randy Moss lined up with the offense during the first training camp practice Free agents or potential free agents Heath Evans, Billy Yates,[34] Larry Izzo,[35] Rashad Baker, Gene Mruczkowski,[36] Junior Seau,[37] Randall Gay,[38] Troy Brown,[39] and Vinny Testaverde[40] were all re-signed. Defensive end Ty Warren also received a long-term contract extension.[41]
It's only a matter of time before a team succeeds in winning the Super Bowl with the type of offseason the Eagles are having. Sure maybe today a team has never bought a Super Bowl but as I said before the Eagles came within a field goal last time they made a major push. As long as you have a solid core and a quality coaching staff you can do the free agent frenzy thing and put yourself in position to win it all. |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
A shortened offseason hurts them too. Less time to develop chemistry.

True. However I still don't see them loosing less then 4 games. And the positions they're adding players to have assignments that can be learned quicker, or at least simplified enough to rely solely on talent. The real kicker will be is if they can get the more complicated concepts down by the end of the season in time for the playoffs. However lets look at the changes. O-Line - Watkins and Harris. Harris might have a bit of a learning curve however I think camp should give him enough time to learn the basics. Watkins has been learning the playbook since April. RB - Ronnie Brown is a backup running back playing the easiest position to learn in football besides Kicker. QB - Vince Young, all they can hope for is any use for him will come no earlier then midseason. DL - Cullen Jenkins - Pretty sure Cullen can learn the defense before the season starts. I don't expect Jason Babin to get 12.5 sacks again but he should be fine until Brandon Grahm is healthy again. CB - Nnadmi and Cro - Don't know about Cro but Nnadmi is talented enough where you can just throw him out there and say play man. Cro at this point is a nickle corner. I don't see anywhere except maybe Corner and backup QB as to much of a concern. And both of those concerns will likely be gone by the end of the year. I think everyone should start getting use to the fact that the Eagles are going to be very good this year save major injuries at key positions. |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
I say they'll top out at 11-5 if they're lucky.
I can't believe people are buying their hype. They still have holes and adding big names doesn't translate to instant success the way it does in other sports. I still think the Packers are the more complete team. |

I still think the Packers are the more complete team.
Funny, I'm still trying to figure out how the Packers won the freaking Super Bowl, outside of the obvious answer of having a franchise QB. Still I made this mistake with the Eagles back in 04. I kept on talking about how they were overrated and they wouldn't even make the Super Bowl, and the T.O experiment was going to fail. I don't plan on making that same mistake again. |

In 2- 5 years hopefull Danny will be able to use his money to actually achieve something and give us the best oppertunity to win. |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
I do think the eagles are going to need jermy macklin to be the hands down faviorts to win it all. But at this point they look almost as good as you can on paper

The Eagles have moved themselves into the discussion with a strong free agency period. And, like the Saints, they should be at this level for two or three years. So they very easily could win the SB with this core. Maybe not this year, but they'll be in it for awhile. But yeah, a one win increase over last year is probably a ceiling for that team. And that's only obtainable because the NFC West is on the schedule. I see this team doing worse than 4-2 in the division this year. 9-7 would be somewhere around my expectation level for them. But they will make the playoffs this year. |

Giants? You're on a roll today. Replace with Packers, Saints and Falcons and you'd be right. Giants have a lot of holes, plus injury issues (Steve Smith), the Osi issue that could linger all season and of course, their annual problem of turning against Coughlin and choking the last month of the season away. It's been a real problem for many years. |

They always seem to start on a losing streak or have a losing record the first couple of games, and then they turn it on and make the playoffs. I know at least in one of these situations, we've been the team they beat that sparks their come back :( |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Even with Watkins and Harris, Philly still has some problems on the OL. After losing Stewart Bradley their linebacker corps is not the best, either.
The Eagles will be good but I'm not going overboard. |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
I think some are underestimating what 3 great CB's and a great defensive coaching staff can do, and Philly traditionally has a great defensive coaching staff. Their offense does not have to be great every game for them to win games.
It will be difficult to throw on them and they will load up the box and blitz all day. Yes they have spent large in FA, but one thing that kind of goes unnoticed in the criticism of Philly is they had 11 draft picks this year thanks to smart trades (cough)....and they picked up another 2nd rounder for next year for Kolb. They have 10 draft picks in 2012. When we (Redskins) went nuts in FA in the past we also combined it with giving away valuable Draft picks for more veterans. Phiily is not doing that, in fact they are adding more and more picks for the future. Philly is not giving away their future to get the players. |
