Cousins has owned 4 different vehicles in is life.
He has dated 9 different women. His 5th grade math teacher was from San Francisco. 4 9 49 Yep, hes's gone...
I like this more than fretting about bullshit. Cousins wears #12. 1 + 2. 1 thing in his life that has always guided him are his principles. Principals, a guiding figure in anyone's life, like a Mike Shanahan when Kirk was drafted. Mike Shanahan, the father/principal in Kyle Shanahan's life. 2 reasons why Kirk is gone: Principles, and Kyle Shanahan. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Actually Schneed, you have it backwards. Cousins was tagged the exclusive. Meaning, the Redskins hold exclusive rights to Kirk Cousins. The non-exclusive would have allowed Cousins to negotiate with other teams.

He was trolling the Skins by making a statement on how much it would take to sign him long term He also threw 4917 yards, subtract 17 from 49 and what do you get? 32, which is about what the tag will cost next year. Another troll statement But wait, theres more. Add 25 and 32 and you come up with 57 which is, drum roll, Nick Sundbergs number. Which can only mean one thing: KIRK COUSINS HATES NICK SUNDBERG. Get this clown out of here, not only is he taking passive aggressive shots at the Skins, he clearly can't get along with one of the nicest guys on the team. I'm so over him |

Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
I have to think Kirk still wants to sign a long term deal with us. $55 million guaranteed (for instance) over 5 years (plus more in not guaranteed contract) is better than $24m this year and $30 million next year because next year is not guaranteed. Have a bad year or get hurt and you can kiss that money goodbye. Kirk set himself up by making them tag him again, but my guess is something gets worked out as long as the team can come up with a decent offer.

I completely agree and this is how I see it going. I think the team is either a) playing this as poorly as possible (Snyder is meddling and doesn't want him) or b) playing this as absolutely perfectly as possible by not budging an inch until July 15 when they will have waited out Kirk's leverage and then come up with a reasonable deal as you suggest. I still think it's B. |

Of course, the only thing they'll be talking about is how the Redskins could have signed Cousins to a cheaper deal had they offered him what he wanted last year. Will probably also go on to say how we could have kept Garcon and D-Jax (assuming at least one of them leaves.) Even though had the 'skins done that, then the media would have blasted them for offering a contract to a largely unproven quarterback ala' Brock Osweiler. Honestly, it's not my money so I won't really care if Cousins makes over 100 million dollars so as long as he continues to improve and show himself as a franchise QB and that the team can still draft well and sign free agents. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
The team wants him back!!!! A deal will get done!!! A long term deal with enough guaranteed mullah to make Kirk happy. Can't tell me he really wants to be a 49er. Their line blows!!!!! Their ownership is even more retarded than ours!!!! HTTR!!!!!

so you want to pay KC more than Aaron Rodgers ? https://overthecap.com/position/quarterback/ |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Yes! Rodgers will probably get $35m a year when it's his turn.

I still think it's B.
Agreed. What would you say the choice of the exclusive tag is telling us on the will of the team to keep or trade KC, as opposed to choosing the non-exclusive tag? Right now, without a lot of time to think about it, I kind of see it as a sign they would want to negotiate a long term deal: -they don't want him to approach and be approached by many teams and get crazy offers that turn his head upside down, they want him to be here, to still consider himself a Redskin (even if it's because he doesn't have a choice), -maybe they also want to have the upper hand to work out a trade with the niners or another team, BUT had they trading KC as the first option in their mind, the non-exclusive tag would have been a better option, let KC work several teams, and statistically increase your chances one would actually want to give up 2 first rounders! Any way we most probably won't know until July 15th if they played it perfectly or screwed it all the way. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
I’m thrilled about this move. We know we have Kirk for at least one more year. I lot can happen in a year. Winning changes everything. Now if we can keep either Jackson or Garcon, and Doctson makes it onto the field and contributes. We fix some holes in the defense, and the new defensive coordinator is more aggressive. That should put us in a position to do better than we did last season. And hell I didn’t even mention Jordan Reed. He’s the fu-#%$-en man. I’m excited.

Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
I think the exclusive tag was all about the team trying to keep leverage. Allowing him to talk to teams would likely only drive up the price.

Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
JP Finlay says the real deadline for a long term deal is the day of the draft. Good point, if they cannot get a long term deal they must trade KC. And find another QB to compete with Colt for the job.
If KC plays the season under the tag, he is gone and they get nothing. (except a compensatory pick). A tag in 2018 would be $30+ million |
