Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Let's talk about the kick return game. If anybody thinks Paul or Armstrong can't fill Banks spot, then you are fooling yourself.

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
On a serious note, that's just him being passionate about this team. I can't hate on passion. I'm not that upset about it because he's probably gonna get cut at the end of the day anyways, but you know, getting pissed about a shitty 3rd stringer playing bad in the 4th quarter of a preseason game = straight passion.

I love what Banks brings to the game as a returner, but let's be honest. Your value is minimal when all you do is return kicks/punts and the NFL institutes a rule that cuts down on a lot of your opportunities. As a coaching staff you have to analyze the question. Is it worth devoting one roster spot to a guy who makes the most of his opportunities, yet won't get that many opportunities due to a rule that's out of his hands? If it is, then you keep him, if it isn't, use that roster spot towards someone who offers more of a contribution. |
I'm not going to take anything serious from someone who made a Chase Daniel reference.. The guy threw one lob pass to Marko mitchell for a TD and everyone thought he looked fluid?
Come on..
Was in the last two games he played in. He looked rather comfortable in there, and it did go smoothly for him, but he was playing 2nd 3rd stringers, so my point is can you make the same evaluation about Beck? I jumped on the Daniel bandwagon, as did a few others. We were obviously wrong. Daniel had a pretty good completion percentage, when they did give him an extensive look. He was more at ease than the other QBs, and he was the low man on the totem pole. I just don't see Shanny starting Beck over Rex, unless something bad happens. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
The Ravens did have the likes of Sergio Kindle playing in the 4th quarter...I think their 3rd stringers were of better quality. Oh well, who cares.

HogsHaven probably jumped the gun a bit on their tweets as no one really knows what's happening with Jenkins...but I can tell you they have good sources

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Beck did look good against the Indy starters.
And again, he started 4 games, so he has been higher than 3rd string. And he will be 2nd string at worst here. Time to lose that argument.
He actually started? When? And I still think he will be 3rd string in 2012 if we keep Rex. QB will be tops next draft. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
I think you're dismissing Beck too quickly though. In the end, unless either QB blows it up (in a good way), these guys are just holdovers until we draft the QB of the future.
Beck will stick around as second string tops. If we keep Rex 3rd string. I no longer buy into hype anymore. Beck looked good against backups tonight. Yeah he did look good at Indy, but that team isn't the Ravens, or even NY or Philly for that matter. |

Did you not watch the preseason game against the Colts last week? |

Yes, but Beck also played against 1st stringers in his first preseason start. Then Grossman threw a INT against the Colts 3rd stringers. In the end it's all irrelevant. It's what Mike Shanahan wants, and he's going to do it his way which I have total faith in, but if history teaches us anything. Then it's going to be Beck |

Bro you can't just evaluate quarterbacks based on how the play in one series, or one game, etc. Shanny is going to evaluate Rex and Beck based on all their preseason play, all their practice play, and by all the other intangibles, such as how they lead in the huddle, etc. |

Indy had the 13th ranked pass D yardage-wise after week 2. This wekk, it seems like they asked Beck to try out plays where he would chuck it deep. Deep plays usually do not end up as completions; having a 50% completion percentage on deep plays is considered beyond excellent. You can't have it both ways. Emphasis on shorter high percentage, less big reward plays = longer drives with better looking stats. Emphasis on lower percentage, high reward plays = more incompletions failed drives, but more exciting plays. Even QBR accounts for the low percentage of the deep plays. That's why QBs deep rating can be in the 100+ even with shitty completion percentages. The receivers getting YAC against the second string Ravens D is a testament to Beck's ability to deliver an accurate ball. |

He also had 4 starts as a Dolphin. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Philip Daniels tweeted that Jenkins is saying he's okay. Uh...how Philip Daniels knows this is a mystery to me, but that's what he's saying.
Jenkins did say he heard something pop, but they have to wait and see. |
