Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?

Getting ripped offed by some pecker head who knows he is ripping you off. Went to leave my office last week and could not find my keys. I got to work at 7am and its now 8:30 pm and I'm tired and ready to leave. Keys no where to be found. I figured I had probably sat them on my desk and a customer had picked them up unknowingly. Called the last few customers in my office and no luck. Called wife and she cannot find my spare and its now 9:30. Called locksmith and they gave me a price of $130 and I told them to come on.

Took him an hour and when he got there the price started changing. It's now up to $250 and I started raising hell. So he was nice and could get it back down to $200 blaming the company for the price change. At this point I said just do it and want to punch the guy in the face the entire time. When finished he said it was $200 plus tax for a total of $212 which at the time didn't question. Next morning looked at the bill email to me and what he called a $12 tax was listed a a convenience fee. So he also lied about it being a tax.

Next day I'm sitting at my desk and one of those customers I called walks in and says look what I found as he held up me keys.

You should have punched the customer in the face. Lol. Not sure exactly what you do but if you could manage to charge your customer a “tax” of about 212 dollars that would work.

Let me know where you can do more than cruise and get away with it. Any of the semi well traveled areas where I drive (between Richmond and DC) have cops with speeds guns lying in wait, thick as flies at the dump. There are stretches of I-95 and I-295 where there are constantly one of them every half mile hiding in the wooden median. I go 4-5 over the limit and that is it.

I commute up and down 95 in the shit every day, if you are camping in the left hand lane move over.

Where on I-95? I am guessing your commute is from Stafford to DC area where there isn't any speeds traps with cops sitting in the center divider with speed guns out. Anywhere from exit 140 south on I-95 down to Richmond there are speed traps galore. In your disrespect for left lane "campers" please drive 80 mph on I-95 between Stafford and Richmond on your free time during daylight hours for a couple months and tell me what your average miles logged are between the times you are stopped and ticketed.

No, it's mostly Woodbridge to Springfield or occasionally Alexandria. We have speed traps too, and for some reason I haven't been caught in one in 10 years even though I do 70 too. Fairfax County loves to sit on the north side of the Occoquan and write up people on Route 1, and VSP love to sit on the NB side of 95 just past the Woodbridge/RT1 interchange.

I also commute all the way from Woodbridge to where Fairfax County Parkway meets 66, all the way up 123 and they have speed traps too. My general rule of thumb is they won't pull you over if you're doing the same speed as everyone else.

If you are going 5-10 slower than everyone else then yeah, you're the asshole. Esp. in the left hand lane. I don't get mad if you're in the slow lane because that's where you're supposed to be.

TheMalcolmConnection 11-22-2019 09:46 AM

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?

All I'm saying is this (I mostly drive I81), drive 90, drive 60, I don't care, but when you pass someone, get over. Don't just sit in the left lane assuming you'll eventually pass someone else, because what ends up happening is eventually someone catches up to you, passes on the right (MAYBE) and maybe gets caught behind someone going slower in the right lane causing the aforementioned clusterfuck. If everyone passed at a decent clip whatever speed they're going and just got over, congestion would go down significantly. TMC science says so.

Yup. I don't often drive up there, but I notice most people chill in the middle lane so they don't have to react to anyone getting on the beltway from the right.

Boss doesnt drink coffee.

Boss decides we have too many coffee cups in kitchen so he throws away half the coffee cups. I asked him why he threw away all the good coffee cups (the newer larger 16 oz ones) and left the old dirty 10-12 oz ones.

He said bc those were the ones at the front of the cabinet.
Co-worker tells him that bc those are the ones we use.

Now I am walking around the office with the coffee right at the brim of my mug spilling on my hand and floor. And these mugs are old as hell. All dusty and perma-stained.

I think he was pissed bc very few people showed up to work on Christmas Eve.

Having the FLU...so I got a Flu Shot about a month ago, but appeartently I got a Flu Shot that only protected me from the 'B Strain' of the Flu and not the 'A Strain' of the Flu. So I got sick in Christmas Eve and felt like crap on Christmas Day, but I made it to Church as all of the Chirstmas celebrations . I was finally able to make it to the doctor yesterday, and I was diagnosed with the 'A Strain of the Flu'. So now I am on Tamiflu, I am stuck not being able to leave the Condo Unit, and my wife has been forced to stay with her parents, since the doctor does not want me to be around anyone. Having the Flu REALLY Sux!

People really aren't aware about the different strains of the flu. The vaccines available in your area are distributed based on which strain they think will be most prevalent in the region for the year. It's why they're not 100% effective. I had the same problem last year, got a flu shot, then got the flu like 2mo later. It'll pass. Hope you feel better soon.

Must be your selection of what you watch and listen to dictating those ads. When I heard about the controversy surrounding those ads I had to Google and watch one on You Tube to see what everyone is talking about. I had never seen nor heard of one.

I think that may only be true with celebrities not goods for sale.

Gerber wouldn't be excited about a bunch of press that their baby food had glass in it, though Paris Hilton would be excited everyone was talking about her latest sex tape.

Grocery store meat departments.

This is a national problem, not just a local one.

Two fold.

I went to Giant last night to get 1 lb of ground beef as my taco dinner kit instructed me to.

1. why the fuck is there never just 1 lb ground beef packages? Why are they always 1.34 or 1.27 lbs? I dont think i have ever had or tasted my tacos as Old El Paso wants me to. That extra .34 of ground beef most assuredly dillutes the taco seasoning that was intended for 1 lb only. No wonder my tacos taste meaty vs taco-y. This just isnt me being nit picky. Ive heard many of people complain about this.

2. Every package was exactly weighed out to 1.34 lbs. Like 8 of em. Im calling bull shit. So youre telling me that your butcher guy has this magical ability to exactly weigh the same ground beef every single time. Like every single time he goes to separate a pound or so of ground beef he always magically nails 1.34 lbs?

Or, alternatively, he doesnt want to have input the numbers for each individual label for each individual weigh and says fuck it, Ill just make all the labels 1.34 lbs.

Fuck it indeed. Who needs flavorful tacos as they are intended or to not be ripped off for paying for 1.34 lbs of ground beef when really you probably got like 1.23 lbs. Fuck it.
