This guy has sucked for the last two seasons and now he's telling the NFL what he wants for Christmas?

If he gets a lucrative, multi-year contract then we'll know that spending on FA's is completely out of hand.

Some GM will give him a big contract using the reasoning that he didnt try due to his contract. Someone will assume that his effort will be there if he is given a big contract. Im hoping we stay away from him. Dont want players that give up when things dont go their way. Its a Vinny move and I am hoping we are past that.

The more I hear about Mike Mitchell, the more I dont want him. Rather pay the high price of Byrd than overpay for a bust FA.

Yeah, anything other than a 1 year deal Im not down with. Ive been saying a prove it deal for Nicks this entire offseason, but I do think someone dumb is going with a bigger offer. Indy probably gonna way overpay Eric Decker, so dont think Nicks lands there.
Alterraun Verner is my favorite FA. I'd rather sign him than Byrd or Talib by a long shot.
Agreed. Younger, less expensive and potentially better than Talib too, without the issues that Talib might bring.

Talib is asking for too much and we're not completely broken at CB. Safety should be the higher priority.

I'd love to see Verner and Mike Mitchell over picking one of Byrd or Talib.

O-line too..hit it!

Less expensive? Almost certainly not because there are so many teams that are going after him.

Other than the less expensive part about Verner, I agree with you. That's not a knock on Talib or Byrd - they're both outstanding players. Perhaps signing Mitchell and Munnerlyn wouldn't break the bank.

I'd be happy with those two.

No way is a safety getting that kind of money. He needs to lower his demands.

I would rather go DL than CB in F/A . Money would be a big factor in the decision , Im not sure any of the DB's are worth the $ ( maybe if we were 1 player from a championship team ) . I honestly hope we get some hard nosed team guys first , and take the approach of building the foundation for a decade of winning football !

as far as i know we're not looking at verner, and he's not going to be any cheaper than talib, so that's not really an option.

Re: Current 2014 Free Agents

The Redskins have expressed interest in free agent CB Corey Graham.

It doesn't look like the Ravens are going to be able to keep their valuable nickel corner from hitting the market Tuesday. Graham should be an affordable target for a Redskins team that is desperate to upgrade their pass defense by any means necessary. They had the league's No. 20 secondary last season and the No. 30 unit in 2012.

Graham is good at nickel and on special teams. I'd approve that signing.

Goldson signed for an average of slightly over 8 mil per year when the cap was 10 mil less. Plus there is Eric Berry, whose contract averages 10 mil per year already. Given the cap rising like it is, 9 mil is not out of the question. Especially since it will continue to go up a good amount in the future.

Most of you are still stuck on the cap being 120 mil or less when talking about salaries. Those days are over. Thats why Shields got almost 10 mil per year from the Packers. No way is he worth that under the previous salary structure of the NFL. He probably is worth it now, and is easily worth it in a couple of years. Salaries of top end players are going to be jumping significantly in the next 5 years.
