Re: offensive coordinator
That's if Al Saunders actually comes here....and if Gregg Williams actually takes over one day.
According to ESPN, it's a done deal: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2298365 |
Re: It's official - Al Saunders is our new offensive coordinator!
Can you see this conversation?
"Fire up Redskin One Danny boy! I'm off KC to fix our offense!" |
Re: It's official - Al Saunders is our new offensive coordinator!
Wow, I really didn't see a move like this coming... great, great move and a great start to the offseason!!
|
Re: It's official - Al Saunders is our new offensive coordinator!
I guess playing the CHiefs this year gave them a good look at what they'd like to do offensively maybe. Smart move to just go get the guy who was a main figure in putting it together.

Re: It's official - Al Saunders is our new offensive coordinator!
This is just huge! I couldn't be happier right now. They're already making all the right offseason moves for next year.
|
Re: It's official - Al Saunders is our new offensive coordinator!
I love the move. Not only can KC air it out and put up a ton of points, but their ground game has been ridiculous. They do have great players, but some of that has to be scheme. I'm not willing to believe that Larry Johnson is head and shoulders better than Clinton Portis, despite what many of you all thought at the end of last season.
I think this was a great move and I will definitely help out this offense. It's almost hard to believe how much the Skins are willing to spend on coordinators. Think about it, is Gregg Williams or Saunders good enough to pay at least 3 mil a year to try to get them out of Washington? In my book, not only did they get great deals to be here, they're almost cost prohibitive as head coaches, now. |
Re: It's official - Al Saunders is our new offensive coordinator!
AWSOME move. This is a guy who can come in and run the bread and butter of the Redskins (rushing the football), but who knows how to mix it up alot better than I think Coach Gibbs had at the end of the year.
In addition, I think its a great move by Gibbs, he recognizes the problem and is willing to do anything to win; even at the cost of taking a step back in the playcalling. |
Re: It's official - Al Saunders is our new offensive coordinator!
Sweet move! Uncork the champagne boys and girls....super bowl XLI, here we come!
On another note, how embarrasing for the Washington Post. They've been completely clueless about skins breaking news this past year. |
Re: It's official - Al Saunders is our new offensive coordinator!
Just wondering......doesn't Al Saunders run a lot of stretch plays? Also, I think he mixes in counters, sweeps....etc.
The passing game is where he'll make the biggest impact. Look for Cooleys numbers to go up next season. |
Re: It's official - Al Saunders is our new offensive coordinator!
Kansas City Free Agents
WR Chris Horn (RFA); No compensation WR Marc Boerigter QB Todd Collins QB Damon Huard Some Wide outs that could end up on our team, as well as a possible veteran backup to replace Ramsey if we decide not to keep him. |

Agreed. In fact, I would say it's probably more the scheme than the players. KC has had a very successful passing attack for years with guys like Eddie Kennison, Johnnie Morton (before this year), and Dante Hall as wide receivers. Talk about getting the most out of sub-par players. Nothing against them, but they really aren't superstar WRs. Of course, everything is easier on offense when you have an O-line like they've had. Either way, I'm very excited. Oh, and yes, Cooley should go off this year. |

The first I did was look to see who their FAs were but they were so worthless I didn't bother even posting them. I don't see one guy who I think the skins will make a move on. I guess maybe Boerigter or Huard(if Ramsey is gon) but there are a lot better options out there. |
Re: It's official - Al Saunders is our new offensive coordinator!
Wow, great news. The only bad thing is we have to wait another 7 months before football starts again. Great move though.

LOL, Yeah Boerigter is coming off of a torn ACL, and I think Collins was the back up so he would be the most likely one to sign. But all in all, they dont have crap. |
