Re: Joe Gibbs: "Campbell is ready to play"!
Everyone should just chill out. Jason is going to struggle just like every young QB. It is going to take time for him to start playing well. This is why they just should have let him be the starter after the Seatlle game last year. That way he would have gotten all the off-season work. Look what Cinn. did to Kitna after he threw 26 td's and 14 ints. He got the hook!

In retrospect, it probably would have been best to give him the job in February, but hindsight is 20/20. Right now, all that matters is beating Dallas. |
Re: Joe Gibbs: "Campbell is ready to play"!
It's difficult for us as fans to think of Campbell going into his 3rd season with US having no clue what he can do but...even if we have no clue that doesn't mean the coaching staff has no clue. Gibbs in the past has let young QB's watch and learn then thrown them into the fire to see them atleast have moderate success(Rypien instantly comes to mind)...because he knew what they could do even if we didn't.
Still I would love to see Campbell ASAP cause Brunell is taking us nowhere and either is Collins so sooner or later the move has to be made to find a successer...the sooner the better IMO.
Gibbs had that luxary during his first tenure of bringing QB's along that way, but time has changed all that. We cannot compare Rypien, Schroeder, and Humphries with Jason Campbell simply because none of these players were drafted in the first round with other picks involved. Therefore it was easier to wait on these type players because not a lot was expected of them at the time, plus they had a good experienced QB playing ahead of them. There is more expected from Jason, that's why most of us want to see what he can do, sooner than later. |
Re: Joe Gibbs: "Campbell is ready to play"!
Joe Gibbs just released a statement saying he would start Campbell, but Campbell declined an invite to eat dinner at Gibbs' house and Gibbs feels he'd be letting him off the hook.

Re: Joe Gibbs: "Campbell is ready to play"!
I believe this as much as I believed Gibbs when he said Ramsey was his starter.
Got that right! Who knows if the kid is really ready, but Gibbs can't continue to say he is not, the longer Campbell is on the bench the worse the pick looks. Tough to explain to people that a player you gave up so much for can't outplay MB. |
Re: Joe Gibbs: "Campbell is ready to play"!
extremeskins guys are just plain full of shit. i stake my sam baugh signed leather helmet that if brunell is healthy stubborn ol gibbsy will play him.
|
Re: Joe Gibbs: "Campbell is ready to play"!
let's please not start calling him gibbsy. he's definitely stubborn with QBs though.

Re: Joe Gibbs: "Campbell is ready to play"!
True enough Gibbs gave him at least 900 seconds.
Ramsey wasn't Gibbs long lost son tho.... Brunell obviously is.... |
Who knows if the kid is really ready, but Gibbs can't continue to say he is not, the longer Campbell is on the bench the worse the pick looks.
Tell that to Chad Pennington, Larry Johnson, and Phillip Rivers.
All I'm saying is that guys will progress each year they are in the league whether they play or not. |

Re: Joe Gibbs: "Campbell is ready to play"!
WHAT THE HELL
from the WP: "Yet Campbell's biggest career highlight thus far was the chance to lead the first-team offense for consecutive days in practice during the bye week with Brunell ailing. "Last year I didn't get anything close to this," Campbell said of the practice time. "This year I got a chance to at least get a couple of days of reps in, and I feel like if my number is called I'm ready. Last week the guys had to get used to me, and this week I can tell it's way better than it was last week. I feel way more comfortable and confident in the plays, and I feel like if I get more reps the sky is the limit." "ready to play" my ASS. the FIRST and ONLY time Campbell has practiced with the first team is THIS WEEK?????? for the first time on the warpath. i'm...speechless. |

Although if he gave Campbell reps he might have had to bench the teachers pet, we can't have that happen, besides Brunell really hangs in the pocket in practice.:cheeky-sm |
Re: Joe Gibbs: "Campbell is ready to play"!
Michael Wilbon's colum in the WashPost today echoed my sentiments exactly in reference to what I've been saying about Campbell. It appears such a waste this kid may not get to take a snap until his third season in the league, I don't know who we blame for it, but I think it's throughly disgusting.
