Re: Disgusted with Bonds?
Is anyone else disgusted with Bonds and his run at Aaron? There is no doubt in my mind he is a roid head, and he cheated to get where he is. I think this is a disgrace to baseball, and an insult to a truly great baseball player in Aaron. I know Aaron would never never say anything negative about this cause he's a class act, but he's got to be annoyed with it. He's only 15 away, and he's making me wish something I would never wish on anyone...a career ending injury. I know it's wrong, but the integrity of the sport is in jeopardy...we should not exhault players like Bonds who cheated to get where he is. It's wrong.
What does everyone else think?
As a Dodgers fan, you know how I feel about Bonds the guy is a world class prick.

Sorry, hit post too early...here's the last proof:
First of all, that guy that wrote the book from Balco can't lie about it, that's Libel...meaning Bonds would OWN him by now from the statements made in the book...so if Bonds is innocent, why not sue him?
2nd- How about the testamony of Gary Sheffield?
3rd: Bonds used steroids in 2003, trainer says on secret recording / Slugger's lawyer sees 'another below-the-belt bash'

I would provide more, but these are common knowledge, and I have to go.
Didn't they use the "secret recordings" to write a book about it.

Not saying I'm an expert on the subject, but I can see a motive to be misleading about the information. If they're going to make tons of money off of it, then yeah, maybe there supplying a "secret recording" to make tons of money off of it.
D,
Did you hear the int the other day on the Dan Patrick show? Pete stated he bet on the Reds EVERY night. he indicated for an extended period.
i heard the interview. he also said he bet on the reds TO WIN every night. whatever, anyway. like someone stated, it should be about accomplishments on the field, period. OJ Simpson is still in the hall, isn't he?
I'll follow the sport regardless. I'm a fan of the game, not the players who play it, because players come and go, but the game is still the game. There isn't a more pure thing than watching a guy put wood on a 98 mph fastball. And while you can argue different things about football, basketball, hockey, curling...Baseball is the only sport where failure (getting out 7 of 10 times) gets you into the Hall of Fame.
Same here, I watch the sport instead of the players now. The last player I specifically watched was Seattle's Ken Griffey, Jr.

I understand your point...but it's not just them. It's ex trainers, ex training buddies, ex girlfriends, ex friends, ex teammates. Basically, it's anyone that came into contact with him.
When 1 person says it, you can dismiss it...but when a whole village says it, it's hard to ignore.
Bonds is as guilty as OJ and he will get off scott free like him too.

Big difference between the "crimes" though.

haha, yeah...sorry, didn't mean to imply otherwise. Just pointing out how guilty someone can be without being caught. Of course OJ came to mind.

Let me say two things:

1. Bonds is guilty of steroid use. Come on, his trainer gave him the cream and the clear -- right? That is indisputable -- isn't it?

2. Charlie Hustle is the MAN! He should be in the Hall -- no doubt.

The ultimate would be for A-Rod to beat Bonds record, Bonds never being allowed into the hall of fame. That would kill him.

It will happen!

McGuire getting 23% of the HOF vote is an indication of what we'll be seeing from the "Steroid Era" hitters I think.

A-Rod's way ahead of Bonds' pace for career HRs too. All he has to do is stay healthy, which he's been good at so far. Actually...Bonds hasn't been very healthy (gee, I wonder why...) for a few years, so he's just helping everyone else catch up to him.

If Bonds beats Aaron, which is a disgrace, someone better come along and dethrone Bonds.

Pujols has a chance too, but he's a LONG way away from being in the discussion...too young and too early in his career.

I can see a-rod doing it. He's the only one right now though with a realistic shot to beat / break it. He has a proven track record of being healthy (which is a very good indication that he does not take steroids) and he's simply a beast.
McGwire will make it though...I don't think they wanted to set a precident that a suspected steroid user can make it first ballot. The sad thing is, McGwire admitted to andro, and he's still being kept off because of him ducking those questions in front of the grand jury.
The only two more guilty of taking roids than Bonds is Canseco and Caminiti.

Although, I have on very good authority that Sosa took roids in front of some others and offered it to them. I play softball with Shane Andrews and we've talked about Sosa and roids on many occasions.

Pujols averages 41.67 homers a season right now. So for him to catch Aaron, he'd have to keep up that pace for over 12 more years. That would make him 39 when he broke the record. That's possible...but that really is a long way away, and a lot can happen in that time.

Re: Disgusted with Bonds?

Another young gun is Miguel Cabrera...he had 104 homers by the time he was 23.
