Re: Here comes Sally
Maybe we need to remind everyone of rule #4 in the forum guidelines:
4. Keeping with the self-censoring idea, please refrain from using any racial slurs or anything that might be viewed as racist and/or discriminatory towards minorities, women, religions, etc. Those that don't adhere to this guideline will be dealt with accordingly and will likely face immediate ban from the forums. Let's not generalize here. We're better than that
you are right SS thank you |

Re: Here comes Sally
i remember i was mad at ST for not picking up or returning multiple gibbs phone calls for a good month after the rv gun incident . .things have settled now, ST missing a week of voluntaries isnt a big deal but there seems to be poor communication through-out the organization . . even down to how we have safeties and cornerbacks meeting seperately during the reg season . . whatever it is lead to a lack of communication on the field last year . . leasons learned, our D is going to be alot better

Re: Here comes Sally
With all due political correctness, how many women are on this site?
Now, I don't know if I'm trying to prove a point or not, but the fact that Sally is a woman does have something to do with this discussion. So while I do agree that taking into the realm of blatant sexism is not necessarily cool, I don't think we can ignore the fact that the majority of football fans, and ALL pro football players and coaches are men. I don't think that means that women can't bring a lot to the table as far as analyzing football goes. Look no further than the gentlemen who frequent this site, we can almost all admit to not being pro scouts, players, or coaches, but that doesn't mean we don't have a valid opinion about the state of the Redskins. Also, in her rebuttal email, I thought it was interesting that she did not address the Chris Carter issue. Clearly, she didn't do to much solid reporting on this column. But that's oftentimes what columnists do, they just write their opinions on a subject without having to use more evidence than what they've seen from their colorful, yet limited, perspective. Almost everyone has been on the Bash The Skins Bandwagon the last couple of years. It's easy to single someone out when they are different than almost everyone else in their profession and they get terrible results. Just take a look at Sally Jenkins. |
Re: Here comes Sally
Actually close to 50% of NFL fans are women (I think it's like 46%) according to Neilsen and the NFL.
I'd post a link if I could find one. I just remember discussing it at work a few months ago |

Somebody who watches a couple of games a year? People who don't keep up with the team except for when they are winning? I dont consider those people fans. A fan is somebody who keeps up with their team all year long and watches/attends all the games whenever possible. I would bet its more like 75% men and 25% women. My mom watches the highlights on ESPN but doesn't wacth the actual games. Would you consider her a fan? |
Re: Here comes Sally
MOST women I know couldn't tell you five players names in the whole league. They would say; " Yeah, I like the Redskins because of their colors". Or some BS like that.

That's another sad generalization. |

I am not some kumbaya touchy feely moron whose enlightened view of the world is so advanced as to hold no bias or prejudices but I am pretty saddened that so many people are able to generalize so blatantly. And with such conviction too. Really pathetic guys.

I'm a little a suprised myself. When I lived in Columbia, Md., I would routinely go to the sports bar to watch football games. And I can tell you that most of the chicks there knew their football. Especially this one chick from Philly...boy she was annoying, but she was hot! |
