What a Jerk!!! He could have told them before the draft!!

RB is definitely a grueling position. There's a reason why most wear down significantly by the age of 30-31.
I gotta say the toughest position physically is either running back or lineman(defensive or offensive). RB's r getting hit normally while going full speed and btheir being hit by someone else going full speed. Lineman have to worry about constant chips and stepping on one person's foot the wrong way can completely blow out your ankle, knee, hip or a combination of the 3 and others.
I know I for one am glad I gave up dreams to play professionally and instead lended became an armchair qb,lol.
don't know why the heck I put lended in there, lol. I guess I was more tired last night than I thought.

There was a prescient article posted on SI.com on Friday about Robert Smith (who retired early from the Vikings in 2001). A quote: "I think a comeback would be possible, but not advisable."

If I was Wannstedt, I'd be on my way to Smith's house with a bouquet of roses.

Smith would help alot!! But he's not coming!! The Dolphins are screwed!! Serves them right for beating our Redskins last year!! Especially after I flew across the country to watch it!! J/K ;-)

:offtopic:

I wonder how many blunts Ricky has smoked already.

At least the guy admits he's a toker, I'm sure there are plenty of closet tokers in the league. Ain't nothin wrong with that, other than the legal aspect of course. ;)

Speaking of Robert Smith, he says that Ricky Williams told him back in June that he was going to retire after this season. Supposedly Williams told a lot of people in the Dolphins organization as well as his own managers, advisors etc. that he was going to retire following this season. The more they told him how dumb he'd be to do that the more upset he got and decided to retire right now.

From the Miami Herald:
Williams said he would tell people he was thinking about retiring, and they would try to dissuade him or call him an idiot or just start yelling at him. His agents, his handlers, his coaches and too many people with vested interests who Williams thought were his friends kept trying to pull Williams back, but all they did in the end was push him away -- all the way to another country, all the way out of football.

''They made me quit that much faster,'' Williams said. 'I don't respond to being told I shouldn't. It makes me want to do those things more. I don't believe in `shouldn't.' You should make a list and try some of the things you haven't just because other people think you shouldn't. You'll feel better, freer. Everybody was being so selfish, thinking that I shouldn't retire for their reasons instead of really listening to mine. I kept saying I'd be happier without football, but they didn't seem to hear that part. I'm convinced about this. I'm not coming back.''
I wonder how feverishly the NFL is going to look into the liquid williams mentioned that can mask the use of mary jane.
