I have one for you concerning the signing of S. Rice...NO!

Lets not, have another Deion Sanders, Marc Carrier, etc. It's just not worth the money. Yes, our D-line is questionable...however, he not worth paying the big contract to for the limited amount of return you will get from him. I past post said he has 12 sacks in 2005. Did we fail to realize the 2005 was 2 years ago?

This is the one "splurge" of the offseason that has been rumored for the Redskins that I strongly hope that we do. We all can agree that Rice would be an upgrade over wynn, daniels, evans, and even carter for that matter. I've seen some people only wanting him to play on passing downs...please....hes better against the run and the pass than the guys we have now. Let's say we offered him a one year 4 million dollar deal or something of that sort, what would that hurt? He's in for one year, if he helps us he helps us, if we see early he isn't healthy he can sit on the bench and we can give him the money we had the room for anyway and send him on his way the next year.

I think he would be an added benefit to our Dline

Simple answer to Rice. NO THANKS.

Re: Simeon Rice released by Bucs

Okay I just saw his (Rice) stats on NFL.COM, an all he's done is averege about 35 tackles a season, play pretty much every game a season since he's been a starter, and just flat-out ring up qb sacks. I say if the money is right, and if the coaches think he is a good fit, why not sign him. His stats are WAY more solid then anybody we have at that postion. Oh that's right, he doesn't play cornerback. There goes another missed opportunity to better our D-line.
I past post said he has 12 sacks in 2005. Did we fail to realize the 2005 was 2 years ago?
If you had read my post, I corrected everyone's stats with his actual stats for 2002-2005. So here it is again:
02- 16.0 (16 gms)
03- 14.5 (16 gms)
04- 12.5 (14 gms)
05- 14.0 (15 gms)

So the man gets injured and has one poor season it's time to throw him in the garbage? No Redskins DE has done that over a 4 season span in the past decade...maybe the past 2.
To ignore Rice when we have all these issues at DL would be giving up on the season already. At least explore it, if he's too much then move on, if not, then get him in a uni NOW.

ps- funny how divided we are...it's 15 to 14 right now in favor of signing him.

If he's healthy and can be had for a decent price we would be stupid to not do it, but those two conditions are quite iffy at this point.

I totally disagree. Daniels is old & inury prone & Wynn is well past his prime but both are as good or better than Rice vs. the run. It's never been his strong point & it would show if not for the LBs that have played behind him.
In his prime he was a better version of Andre Carter, but he's also been known as a primadonna me-first guy. See JLC's Skins Insider comment on him in the wash post. He hits it right on the nail. We don't need another Bruce Smith, we're lining MW up at end on passing situations & hopefully J. Hickman can make the team as a pass rusher.

I cant believe that we dont want this guy. He would be the best move they have made in a long time. I think our line becomes top ten instantly with him on it. I would trade both Daniels and Wynn for this guy.

the man is definetly on the decline, he couldnt play a whole game. he could play maybe 15-20 plays a game

Re: Simeon Rice released by Bucs

If he isn't good against the run there will always be 3rd downs and some 2nd and longs. If he was a situational player for us i think he would help out, but he will play as a starter for big money. Someone will pay him to do that other than the skins. If the Gmen sign him and release Strahan that could land us big mike since he stated he would like to play in DC. Football is a damn Soap Opera anymore but i like it.....lol

Re: Simeon Rice released by Bucs

Well I like Strahan also. He is older, but still could help alot.

Why your at it, why not at least post last years "poor" season stats.

Just what we need another Bruce Smith...? lol

This guy is old at the end of his career and is going to require to much cash and he won't get it in DC. I believe Joe's comments on SR were we are not interested.

Thank you LORD.
