Re: Who are you rooting for in Super Bowl XLIII?
I think we're all a little shocked by the news that the Bucs have signed Anthony Mix (incidentally their first move since letting Bruce Allen go...and yet we want Allen here?!)...but let's try to settle down here
I'm surprised this wasn't its own thread. I came very close to creating a thread as a joke. LOL. |
Re: Who are you rooting for in Super Bowl XLIII?
The Stees are my defacto second team since my wife is from the Burgh-so I'll be rooting for the Black and Gold...

Re: Who are you rooting for in Super Bowl XLIII?
I'm going with Pittsburgh , why should I hold success for as long as they have had it against them..the Cardinals did an exceptional job ,but I admire the Steelers tradition of churning out winning teams no matter what the decade..this is an Organization we should model ourselves after...and this is why I'm pulling for the Steelers (they do it the right way)

Re: Who are you rooting for in Super Bowl XLIII?
The Steelers O averaged 21 ppg without a running game. Not the greatest but certainly not like Balt when they won the title. When a D only gives up 14 ppg and the O can get 21 it sure makes the O's life easier. If those number were reversed then I'd agree with your carried their ass theory but they arent so I dont.
I guess I dont know your definition of pretty good teams but in the regular season the only pretty good teams it looks to me like they beat were Mia & Dallas. They did get hot in the playoffs and thats all that counts and shows the importance of just getting in because once you are there anything can happen.
People said the same thing about the Giants last year and they got hot at the right time and we know how that turned out. It does not matter how a team gets to the SB its what they do when they get there. Who's still talking about the Pats winning all but one game last year. No one well maybe a few people. |
Re: Who are you rooting for in Super Bowl XLIII?
While I really don't like most Steelers fans because they're rather obnoxious, I am rooting for the Steelers.

My post was to refute 2 points. The first point was that the Steelers D carried the team and I was showing the numbers say they didnt. The second point was that AZ beat a bunch of pretty good teams in the regular season and I was pointing out that they only beat 2. I agree that it doesnt matter how a team gets there as long as they are there. If they are there they can win. |
Re: Who are you rooting for in Super Bowl XLIII?
Cards 28
Steel. 24 |
Re: Who are you rooting for in Super Bowl XLIII?
Gotta go with the Cards for all of the above stated reasons. Pittsburg is a class organization, but I can't say the same about their fans.
Everytime Fitz gets a ball thrown to him, I say, "you can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him!" Damn, I wish that guy was on our team. |
Re: Who are you rooting for in Super Bowl XLIII?
First off if a team is in the super bowl they deserve it. However, if either of the current super bowl teams doesnt deserve it its the Cards. The won the easiest division in the NFL with a 9-7 record. The Steelers were 12-4 and a top seed in the playoffs. Dont forget also that the Steelers played most of the season without a running game due to injuries and still managed to win 12 games. Its not that they dont have an offense, it that the O has had a lot of injuries.
AZ is a great story and have been hot but now they have had to take 2 weeks off and I think that 2 weeks will cool them off.
After much thought, this too is what I believe. Somewhere in that 9-7 Card record is a loss to the Burgandy and Gold, and somewhere in that 12-4 Steelers record is a huge win over our very same B&G at our place! I'm using that as my standard. My eighteen year old parrot is rooting for the Cards, but he's a birdbrain! |
