Teams who are rebuilding traditionally trade their top end talent.

What use is Cooley's Pro Bowl talents if we're just going to languish the next two years or so.

Rebuilding teams need to get where they are going in a hurry and they do that on the foundation of high draft picks. Tony Gonzalez has done much more at TE in this league than Cooley and he was traded from a rebuilding team to the Falcons. If he can get traded then Cooley certainly can.

Cooley is still young enough to be part of a rebuilding process. Gonzalez is on the last legs of his career, kind of a different situation.

Chris Cooley is about the last thing I have left on this team that I enjoy, if they trade him I don't know it would be hard to be a Redskins fan.

I think I'd make the move if getting those pick provided the last bits that put the team over the top. However this team is so far from the top that I dont see it as doing much at this point.

Yeah...but the only player on our team that would (potentially) yield a 1st and a 3rd round draft pick is Cooley. The picks are what we would need to rebuild.

Why would anyone think we would make a wise use of the 1st and 3rd round picks? So we'd give up Cooley for a Kelly/Rinehardt-type decision?

And now we are talking about ridding ourselves of the one man who is seemingly impervious to the surrounding chaos. A player who has found a way to mold his enviroment to his will. That is the kind of guy you build a team around. Not the kind of character you should so flippantly disregard. Do you think the Pats are thinking of dealing Randy Moss or the Colts, Dallas Clark or the Cards Larry Fitz. Cooley is the most productive offensive weapon washington has and here he should stay.

HELL NO! The only keeper in my book is Chris Cooley, maybe Santana Moss if the contract is right. Everyone else on offense is expendable. Clean house on defense as well. Smoot, Rodgers, Griffin, and Daniels are at the top of the list of expendables. Zorn -> gone. Vinny -> gone.

Correct, Cooley is a luxury. We can't run the ball and we can't stop the run, so until we fix that we don't have much hope of being a contender.

If we could get a 1st and 3rd for Cooley, and use our top picks for OL then I would do it. Problem is, we probably can't get that for Cooley.

Cooley is great but I don't think that any team would give up a 1st and third for him.

But if some team would do that, you have to do it. Unless Fred Davis is a complete bust, which I don't think is the case.

If the Skins could be mentioned in the same breath as these teams then it wouldn't be an issue.

Your examples don't fit...it's more like, do the Rams think about dealing Steven Jackson?
