Re: We should stay away from Bradford
Isn't this entire discussion somewhat moot. Every prognosticator on the air has St. Louis taking Bradford at 1. Is there any chance in hell that he would fall all the way to 4 with both St. Louis and Tampa in front of us? Doesn't seem likely to me. I think we'll get Okung at 4 and pick up McCoy at 36, with a draft day trade for a mid-2nd round pick to land another OT.
I was thinking like you but honestly why waste the 2nd pick on McCoy if you don't feel he is going to be something great. There is always next years can't miss batch of QB's coming out and I am pretty sure we will be drafting in the the top 10 again next year. |

Because I really think that Shanahan wants a young QB to push JC this year and see if he can perform. Brennan is not that young QB, and that leaves the draft. Plus the 2011 draft class for QBs isn't looking spectacular right now. Things obviously change and guys will emerge, but there isn't any real "can't miss" talent projected for the next draft. Then again, maybe someone will emerge as the next big thing. Heres a great article I read from SI about what NFL draft analysts said about certain prospects and how wrong they were about these 'can't miss' prospects

Re: We should stay away from Bradford
Hopefully true:
Jimmy Clausen Sources tell SI's Tony Pauline that the Redskins' moves in free agency indicate that they will not draft a quarterback at No. 4 overall. Aside from hosting Barry Sims and Chad Clifton for fruitless visits, the Skins have done nothing to address their monster weakness at left tackle. Thus, it appears Mike Shanahan is targeting that position -- a more needy one -- at the top of the draft. The Redskins did give Jason Campbell a first- and third-round tender and are treating him as their uncontested starter. Source: TFY Draft Insider
"As mentioned earlier quarterback Jimmy Clausen was on hand to view the workout. Clausen was seen hanging around with a contingent of people from the Washington Redskins during most of the pro-day event. Will the team use their selection at the top of round one? If free agency is any indicator sources do not believe they will. Many have told us the Redskins have been very lukewarm to signing one of the top rated left tackles available in free agency. To many this means the team won’t use an early pick on a quarterback." |

well they're wrong on both counts |

I think this QB class is pretty decent, and that we can get a NFL caliber QB in the mid rounds still. I mean there are guys in this draft that had better senior stats than Matt Ryan did. Everybody thinks it is really weak, but there are some good QBs other than the stellar 4 that can make something of themselves. WE can wait for 2011 or 2012 for Mallet, Keenum, etc, but there are other options available this season as well. I don't like it when some guys are going to get ditched from the draft just because they didn't play on a NCAA powerhouse with the huge hype machine built in. |
Re: We should stay away from Bradford
I don't know, anything would be better than Campbell. Campbell would be a great backup but maybe we should give Brennan an honest shot first.
|
Re: We should stay away from Bradford
Brennan will get his shot in camp, all QBs will.

and soon after "his shot," he will be shown the door. |
Re: We should stay away from Bradford
I am sorry I just can't get pumped about taking any qb with a first round pick this year.

Re: We should stay away from Bradford
are you guys crazy? What's not exciting about having Tebow, Clausen, or Bradford suit up for the Skins? You guys are all crazy and ill-informed...Clausen is the best followed by Bradford...with tebow somewhere below...but still all 3 are better than the junk we have now.
