Re: Brian Cushing Suspended 4 Games
I don't think he was the runner up the first time. In fact all he got was 2 votes, this time he got 3
Perhaps I'm confusing something... I thought for Rookie of the Year fans voted for it, perhaps as well as coach's, and media? I thought I remembered Cushing and Orakpo being neck and neck for an award? Maybe it was the pro bowl but I could have sworn it was ROY. |
Re: Brian Cushing Suspended 4 Games
ROY is voted on by the media only.
The only time where fans vote is with the Pro Bowl. |

Re: Brian Cushing Suspended 4 Games
To his credit P.King said no to voting for Cushing and voted for Clay Matthews instead. I'm still in shock that 18 of the 29 previous voters still supported him as DROY. Unbelievable that writers could be that obtuse.

Says alot when it comes to football and PED's. Alot of people just don't care. I would bet a MLB vote under the same circumstances would have gone in a completely different direction. |

Aint that the truth, imagine reporters being judged by athletes on their articles it would never happen, but reporters can vote on athletes. You know 65% of the vote is probably based on the athletes who are most friendly to the reporters. |

Re: Brian Cushing Suspended 4 Games
From PFT:
And finally, a few notes that are too bizarre not to include: 1. Chris Berman has a vote. Really? 2. Poor Brian Orakpo lost two voters, who changed their mind and chose other non-Cushing defenders. Strange. 3. Howie Long was "Not available." Taping a truck commercial, perhaps? |
Re: Brian Cushing Suspended 4 Games
They shouldn't have even bothered with the re-vote. It just looks like more of a joke now.

Re: Brian Cushing Suspended 4 Games
Him getting revoted for rookie of the year is the largest double standard I've ever seen in my life. These are the same hypocritical dolts who refuse to vote for Big Mac to the HOF. Also, I can't recall the word "cheating" being associated with Brian Kushing either. Whenever you heard the name Barry Bonds, or Big Mac, the word "cheat" would soon follow. These sportswriters are a joke.

I disagree. He should have been on the ballot but gotten 0 votes which would have worked out great if it hadn't been for the 18 idiots with votes. Having Cushing loose his DROY award would have helped send a message to kids that the general public won't support steroid use. In fact thats the part that worries me the most, seeing as how it will now send a message to high school kids that the ends justify the means. Way to go sportswriters. Freaking F+. I mean do we really have to be so strict as to leave Cushing off the ballot for them to get it right? Thats the kind of treatment I would expect to be reserved for children, only problem is today they proved they were worthy of such treatment. |

Re: Brian Cushing Suspended 4 Games
To me it's just a waste of time to re vote. The games have already been played, the guy had a monster year and the season is over with.

Baseball is just retarded. To me the media drives all the crying over roids in baseball. It's like they pretty much ignore that the pitchers were doing it. Yet when a hitter does it they can't stop talking about for 10 straight days. I personally don't care cause everyone was taking juice. Actually I can't stand baseball so I really don't even care. lol. |
