Re: Graham Gano has to Go !!

i honestly can't believe all the Gano lovers on here. The fact is there is one kicker statistically worse than him. So, how much worse could it possibly get. Fact is, he is missing some pretty damn improtant field goals. Not just this year either, he missed a few important ones last year. One that comes to mind was the Cowboys game that would have won the game. He hasn't shown me anything on a consistant basis worth of giving him a pass. It isn't like the kid misses from just 45 and over. He misses from any distance. What was it last week...35, 37 yards?? Come on, that should be freaking automatic. that isn't the first one he has missed from that range either. The only reason all these lovers are here is because we haven't lost the games (except Texans) where the field goals mattered. Those ones he has missed (chicago, green bay, dallas) if we lose those games his kicks would have made all the difference. I am sorry, i was a Gano fan because the kid has a leg, no doubt. But I will take a guy that can bang 40-43 yards in on a consistant basis than a guy that "could" be good, and has a leg to make from 50+ easlily. I am tired of the freaking revolving door of kickers at Redskin park. We can never find a guy that is any good. I would be bringing someone in and giving them a chance. We have 9 games left, and all but one has come down to the last minute, and withing 3 to 5 points. Field goal kicking is brutally important and we are suffering in that part of the game.

Suisham missed those kicks last year, Gano came in at the end and was 4 of 4.

The way I look at it is Gano is 50-50, when the game is on the linne. Siusham was 100% miss in those situations, so I am willing to give Gano the chance to get better.

I love it when people are tired of the revolving door at kicker, yet they want to bring in someone else. Go figure. How about giving Gano a fair shot to develop?

I think the sentament would be different if we had lost the games this year. You can't honestly think it would be the same. the revolving door i am tired of is the inadequate kickers we have had here for the last how ever many years. the fact remains he is the worst kicker in the league, how could it get worse if we gave someone a look. With the way we play we need a reliable kicker and he just isn't AT ALL. Wait until all these close games go the other way, where his missed kicks are costing us the games, then lets see how much you want to "develop" him. You and everyone else will be saying he has to go. WIth the win now attitude, we aren't going to keep a kicker around that is costing us games.

hopefully i am wrong and he'll work out for years to come. But haven't seen any improvement from last year to this year.

Well, technically Lawrence Tynes is the worst. Gano is 31 of 32 in terms of accuracy.

FedEx is a tough place to kick in. We may never find someone that everyone is 100% happy with.

Re: Graham Gano has to Go !!

speaking of kickers, i have a hunch cundiff is on hgh. since when did he consistently boom them for touchbacks.

imo gano has done enough with his long kickoffs and has made some decent pressure/length kicks to have some sense of job security. Also, at least to me it seemed we had consistent kinda off-target snaps at the beginning of the season.

gano has done just enough imo for us to not be having a kicker debate, but one bad game or kick and i think it is ripe for discussion.

at least gano has a strong enough leg to go 50/50 on fgs 50 yds or longer. i remember with suisham, gibbs would either go for it on 4th or punt rather than trot suisham out for anything 50 or longer.

it is what it is at this point, subject to change at any time. not great but better than most other options.

I mentioned only one was worse than him earlier, but hell 31 out of 32, pretty much is the worst in the league. If FedEx is tough to kick in, then he better step up the game because he kicks there 8 times a year, maybe more if we make the playoffs. hell, even the guy that kicks in pittsburg is better than gano, and Pittsburg is like the worst place in the NFL to be a kicker.

Reed in Pittsburgh is just 1 percentage point higher than Gano at 73%.

Plus that guy is the only one not named Mike Vanderjagt to earn the honored distinction of being called an idiot kicker. He was the true originator of sending girls the cock shot, unlike that copycat Brett Favre. He even has a douchebag haircut and a reputation for being a cocky asshole, despite not even being an elite kicker!

Re: Graham Gano has to Go !!

C'mon now, give the guy a break. He is the best we have had in a long time, and a young guy to boot. Do you really want to pay top $ for an aging vet kicker, when we have so many depth issues to address to make this team a true contender? You have to give him a whole season of work to evaluate him anyway. What if he goes like 11-13 in FGs the rest of the way? Are you going to still call for his head on a silver platter?

Re: Graham Gano has to Go !!

He'll have to show some signs of consistency later in the year because I'm about to die if he misses more of those critical FGs that could have cost us the game.
