well, his agent might have overstepped or bluffed, and after two teams hung up, the eagles were left with less money on the table.

just a guess, but that's a great buy, and they might just flip DRC for a 3rd/4th and be better off for it. they can't really lose either way.

Bro, I know how it feels to feel like that, since we root for the same team obviously. It looks bad right now, that the rich are getting richer while it seems we're stuck in neutral. But in reality you just need to trust in the coaching staff. They know what they're doing, and the moves we're making right now aren't so that we can win now, they're so we can win in the long term.

At the time, we all thought we were getting players who would be playing at the pinnacle of their positions for a long time. Instead, we got players who never performed or lived up to any expectations.

Over a decade we proved that you can't win consistently by signing big name free agents to big money deals and expecting them to repeat their success here.

I mostly agree, although we have to take whatever they get in a Samuel trade into account.

It seems to me, though, that Babin might be the bigger signing. In Nnamdi they replaced a Pro Bowler with a better Pro Bowler; with Babin they filled a big hole.

To echo Mooby's very eloquent post, the game is played on the field. And the last time I checked each team has to field 11 players at a time. Asomugha could be a difference maker for the Eagles, but he's still only one player. Albeit an immensely talented one, still just one guy.

This is the NFL. How many times have we seen that one stud go to a team and things just didn't pan out the way it was drawn up on the board. I remember when the 49ers signed Nate Clements, the pundits were falling over themselves anointing them the next great thing. They do it year after year with the Chargers. This year Detroit is everyone's Cindarella favorite.

I like where the Skins are right now and that's all I'm really concerned about.

Great post, mooby. Really well said. One team's treasure sometimes doesn't amount to anything on the next team. Agreed that both the Eagles and Skins did the right thing by signing/not signing Nnamdi. A few years ago, the Redskins would have already locked up both Nnamdi and Santonio, and already held high profile pressers with both guys.

We're taking a very deliberate, non-flashy approach to building a balanced roster with measured moves... Philly is a team on the cusp of winning it all and has cap room to throw in a monster like Asomugha to get them oh so much closer. Good for both front offices.

Philly is going to run away with the division but putting together a team that plays well for the next 5-10 years is way more important IMO than rushing to build a winner with overpriced parts
