Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
About sums it up for me too. He's a 5 year vet but doesn't show it much. In fairness to him, his 2010 season was derailed by his achilles, had he stayed healthy he might have a contract already as he was having quite a year.
Yeah but he also decided to pass on having surgery which could have healed his achilles |

Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
LL is a great physical specimen but he's not a great football player. He's simply not going to be worth the $ he's going to demand. On top of that the guy can't stay healthy. I'd let him walk.

Maybe he won't demand that kind of contract though? If he and his agent are smart they'll keep it reasonable because I doubt any franchise will pay him handsomely. Most teams don't wanna put up w/ the nonsense he brings for one thing... |
Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
I really wonder what Shanny thinks of him. My guess is that he doesn't like his style but of course wants him to reach his high potential. I see them tendering him next year & if a crazy offer comes in they'll let him walk. Otherwise he has another year to play for a contract.

Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
Once again The Goat will have as many tackles and forced fumbles in an NFL game as Laron Landry this Sunday

Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
great article regarding laron landry.. I love the guy and I think we should resign him yet there are valid points in this article as to why we should't

Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
GTripp, Landry isn't the most important member of our defense. Sorry. We've been dusted with him on the field and without him, which has been quite frequently. He's a solid safety at best when healthy, but not much more. Great athlete, but bad technique and fundamentals.
At this point there's probably more value in keeping him than letting him walk, but either way I don't think it's a deal breaker. I guess we could parse words --"most important, most valuable"..but that person is Ryan Kerrigan. He not only plays his position well, but he plays every damn snap and frees up others to take advantage of mismatches. |

Which brings me to my next point. Why should we? |

I didn't know about this. What was the motivation to skip surgery? |
Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?

Which brings me to my next point. Why should we?
It's a valid point/question to be sure. Part of the time I want to see him walk. I was at the Seattle game last Sunday and from our seats could see the play where Landry went for the hit instead of the tackle (didn't even raise his arms btw) and the receiver bounced off him for something like a 20+ yard gain. As a defender that's just...indefensible. If Landry was actually a consistent big hitter I'd give him the benefit of the doubt on the play from Sunday but the fact is he just doesn't lay the wood like some people want to pretend. I honestly doubt anyone in the league is afraid of Landry apart from late/cheap hits out of bounds. Flip the coin: he knows the system and I stand by the observation he's neither the sickness or the cure in our secondary woes. If he can be retained for a modest price and won't be a bonehead about it re-sign him IMO...if he even hints at wanting big money or makes a single comment about being dissatisfied show him the door ASAP and (easily) find his replacement in the off-season. |

He chose to do some blood spinning thing instead. Why? I don't know |
