I actually loved the answer he gave to how he prepared for Georgia after Gruden told him the UGA DC was calling Saban asking him what he did to stop Cousins after which Cousins turned around and said he called Kellen Moore who "had lit up the Bulldogs earlier in the year" to get advice. Actually brought a tear of joy to my eye.
Yeah great answer.

You could tell Gruden really likes this kid.

So, I guess we can assume he will be a willing apprentice to the RGIII school of quarterbacking.
As for the Cousins pick, at first I was like many of us, confused and frustrated by the pick but then recognized this draft was more about 2013, 2014 and beyond than 2012. This addresses the most expensive and highest position of turnover in the league so now it's locked up, 2 deep for the next 4 years at what will be an affordable price. Unless he's a complete flop and can't grasp the offense or simply can't play at this level, we've got a future asset or at worst a career backup who will have years of experience running our system. I would have rather seen another 'need' player there but ultimately, I'm fine with the pick.
Would have much rather seen a quality player taken that would have filled a OL or DL position. Possibly a Nose Tackle prospect that maybe a started in a year or 2.

Well he believes he's suppose to be here so yes.
“I’m going to work as hard as I can,” Cousins said. “There are a lot of things I can’t control, like where I get drafted. I’m just excited to be part of the NFL. At the end of the day, I believe God is in control of my future, and this is where I believe he wants me at this time.”
Given how some of the players they drafted had a pretty fluid draft stock I doubt they really missed out on anyone they wanted. Maybe a few but none where their whole draft was thrown off. As some of the beat writers said when the Redskins were picking in the third round, there were a lot of players they liked and trading down wasn't an issue.

Say hello to our starting QB for 2013.

I've been a long time proponent of adding 2 young QBs so I'm very content we finally have it.

We have exactly what I've wanted. The franchise starter, the veteran back up, the up and coming 3rd stringer.

What did Jason Reid use to say during Shanahan's first year? Shanahan wants to "grow a QB" or something to that effect? Well I guess now he gets to grow two, much to the medias shigrin. It's alright though.

Was waiting on the Kirk Cousins pick poll to weigh in, but for right now, it's a single thumb clearly up.

A lot will depend on how the Shanahan's manage Cousins and Grossman, which is kind of a scary proposition, but we've had first round prospects on this team before and who knows how that we'll work out. What we have now is the first quality backup in a long time. Maybe since the 2005 or 2006 season where Campbell was the QB in waiting.

The more i think about it, the less i like the pick. One of Cousins qualities all the experts talked about was his leadership abilities. I just think if RG3 struggles this year and next year there will a lot of fans calling for Cousins. RG3 has a lot of pressure already. I guess only time will tell, but if he does struggle in 2012 and 2013 RG3 and the Skins will have a bad divorce IMO.

Given the resources the team used to get RG3, it'd be ridiculously stupid for MS to give up on RG3 should he hit a bump on the road.

Speaking generally, I do feel a lot of fans need to realize that RG3 is not necessarily going to take this team to the playoffs right away.

I agree but if the team doesn't make a playoff push in 2013, MS could be gone.

Re: Kirk Cousins pick 4.7

If RG3 is really struggling 2 years in, we have bigger problems than worrying about who the backup is.

The only way RG3 loses the job is if he plays his way out of it. The presence of Cousins isn't going to determine his fate.

If (that's IF) Griffin struggles two years in a row, it would be a natural to consider alternatives, regardless of who was on the bench.
