Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
True but maybe they don't go 2-14 if they didn't have a guy like Curtis Painter as their backup. Every team should have a solid backup quarterback, the entire game revolves around them. They were exposed without Manning, and I don't like that. Imagine if he built this team around RG3 and then RG3 goes down, and an entire season is wasted. Not saying Kirk Cousins is as bad as Curtis Painter, but I'm not a fan of building a team around one player.
Totally agree, and that certainly wasn't Caldwell's fault. |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
problem is, Colts were a playoff team the year before and a playoff team the year after with 2 different QB. Certainly Caldwell should have had that team playing better.

Yeah I was about to say something along these same lines. I would think the coaching staff, if there was a belief in them, could have gotten a 'Manning' pass, especially with a #1 overall pick coming in. That entire team fell apart at the seams. |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
How is double G even being talked about as a head coaching candidate? He ratted out players in exchange for the Commish letting him back into the league. No locker room is ever going to rally behind him.

It was the best thing that could have happened to them. They got Luck. The main reason the Skins have struggled to find a franchise QB is that they didn't suck enough. They always finished with 5-8 wins, which put them out of reach for the top QB prospect. The year we finally get a top 2 pick, it goes to St. Louis;) |

With Painter, Orlovsky, and Kerry Collins playing QB? Good luck with that. |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
I'd sure like to know who's on the secret list that SS mentioned.
Hey, SS, I understand why you might not be at liberty to reveal the names but how about some hints. Maybe just the initials of the candidates or some place names or a physical description or a nickname. For example: JG, Tampa, blond hair, nickname "Chucky". That should be enough for us to figure it out. |

Good luck with that.
Yeah I know, but the organization must have thought he should have done better as well. He couldnt deal with the adversity and overcome such a huge injury to lead the team properly. Im in the assumptions room, but I think the colts thought this was kinda a test for the future and he didnt pass. |

I think maybe they just viewed it as an opportune time to sort of clean house, move on with a new staff and QB. I'm not a fan of Caldwell either, but he had a real shit hand once Manning went down. Certain QBs you just can't win with, they had it much worse than even we did with Rex/Beck. |

I felt at the time that that the GM left Caldwell in an untenable position by not having a good backup QB on the roster. Caldwell didn't have a snowball's chance in hell. |

Wonder if this move could be more special teams related than HC related.
