Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
Winston will go number one to Tampa..after that all bets are off..IF Winston is there at 5 Redskins could do a lot worse by picking him..I would for sure..WE do not have a QB on the team that can lead us to more than 8 wins ..that is why in a earlier post I said i would be happy if we get 8 wins next year..Every team that made the playoffs this year has either a great qb or above average..look at Arizona..no QB ..no chance!!

We need to get a better defense, offensive line, and two big wrs. The biggest problems both of them had last year was that they had to win games instead of manage them. RG3 has some mechanical issues and problems seeing the field. These are some things that can be corrected as he gets more comfortable as a pocket passer. Kirk Cousins has the skill set he just needs a defense as wr more suited for the WCO.
We need some warriors on our fronts. We can take a DL, OL, or LB. But we have to address one or all three of those positions. |

Disagree- I wouldn't touch him with a 10' pole because of character issues. Need to build o-line to protect a qb. this has been stated over and over again......

Exactly. We have to build up in the trenches. We got a lot of pretenders on the OL and DL. The thing is we need interior line help more than anything. On the DL we don't have no one difference maker. We got to stock pile this team with young talent on both fronts. |

Wrap up of the senior bowl practices and prospect analysis.
Me likey.... LSU OT La'el Collins — If he's not a top-15 or 20 pick, I'd be shocked. The week was exactly what scouts hoped to see. Collins stonewalled pass rushers all week, and his ability to play tackle and guard makes him an extremely safe prospect, too. Collins might not be a dominant, pile-driving force in the NFL, but it would be surprising to see him flop in the league. Duke OG Laken Tomlinson — If he didn't consistently hold up well in blocking drills and team work, Tomlinson would have earned high marks anyway for his character. Two teams we spoke with said he nailed his interviews with them, giving them the belief that he'll be a set-and-forget starter at guard for the better part of a decade. Defensive lineman Danny Shelton got him once or twice, but Tomlinson held up very well all week. |

We can't afford to leave the next Aldon Smith or JJ Watt on board to acquire career back ups.

career back ups ? The Redskins need 4 DBs, 4 OL, 2 DL, 2 LBs, and more - good draft picks will start |
Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
JJ Watt was drafted 11th overall and Aldon Smith was drafted 7th, to use redskinsfan1980's examples. We can trade back and still get a guy like that. It's not like the only elite players in the draft are in the top 5.

Do you think we're going to get all of that in just one draft? Do you think we're going to get half of that is one draft? I don't think we are. As I said, it makes sense to trade back, however, leaving a future star on the board should not be an option. If it's a guy at five that we believe can be a dominate force on one of our fronts I say draft him. I don't think you leave a future star on the board for an extra 4th of 5th round pick. I'm not saying those picks are not important because they are. This team needs a huge upgrade of talent and I believe it's going to take a few drafts before we can get there. |

We got Kerrigan, but lets be real, he'll never be as good as Watt. Jarvis Jenkins and Leonard Hankerson are career back ups at best. My point was that you can't leave those type of impact players on the board. If we see the next JJ Watt sitting there at 5. We take him at 5. If we see another guy that we believe can be a dynamic player that will likely be there at 15, then trading back will make a lot of sense. We shouldn't just trade back for the sake of trading back.

In the 2014 draft, 3 of the top 4 (in the rookie of the year voting) were not top 10 picks A top 5 pick is no guarantee of an impact player - in fact several are major busts. The Redskins have made plenty of mistakes drafting "career back ups", however there is a chance the new staff will make better picks..... and they need as many picks as they can get. They need 5+ contributors from the draft, as well as a solid 5 free-agents. Then they will have a chance for a decent year, and a promising future. |

I'm not saying we have to draft a guy in the top five or the top ten to get an impact player. What I am saying that if we see a guy at five that SM believes will be the next Aldon Smith or JJ Watt we should draft him.

I understand completely, my point is there are plenty of definite impact players like Jamarcus Russell.... if SM uses the #5 pick he better be right - he will probably be offered 3 or 4 high picks for it |
