Re: Playoff hunt!
it's been 3 weeks of other teams not doing the Skins any favors, and the Skins not taking charge of it. I don't expect that to change. Skins cynic prediction for the weekend:
Detroit over Dallas, Dallas rests its starters in the second half GB over Minnesota Minnesolm Atlanta over Carolina We of course will blow out Chicago on Saturday, building our hope over the weekend for the monday night result.
MNF just puts the NFC North more into play. We now have a Giants team that has something to play for! We had everything to play for against Carolina and blew it. We didn't even show up, so I am not that optimistic about our chances. |
Re: Playoff hunt!
Not sure how you guys are defining killer instinct but Gruden has never been afraid to gamble by going for it on 4th or a surprise onside kick.

Re: Playoff hunt!
This team is limping towards the finish line. If we were somehow able to make the playoffs it would be one and done. With 10 draft picks, cap space and some luck with Doctson and Galette, I'd expect a much better and deeper team next year.

I think there is a difference between a coach who is a clever and successful gambler, and a coach with a killer instinct. Gruden is definitely willing to be gutsy and gamble - I like that about him. But in terms of a killer instinct, I define that a lot by how you play with a lead. Will you settle for a FG when a TD seals the game, will you go in at half taking a knee or will you push a drive that puts you up 2 scores. Other than one or two games (GB being one) we won't often go for a kill shot when the opportunity arises. A secondary part is how you play in preseason - and I am not saying preseason means squat, it doesn't - but you can tell some thing's about a coaching mentality, and Gruden's - imo - is passive more often then aggressive. Coaches can win without what I am calling a killer instinct, and I like Gruden for a whole lot of reasons. But he never will be a coach that goes for a TD when a FG puts your lead to 6, or takes that deep shot in the second quarter when you are up by 14. |

A team that can pin its ears back and do what needs to be done to take care of business is killer instinct. Gruden isn't the target of my rants, but these players just seem on the border of apathy at the very time they need to put the hammer down. They do not come across as a team that deserves a playoff spot. |

Good point, if they make the playoffs there is the illusion that they are a decent team. They would lose in the first round again. This team needs major rebuilding to start this off-season. They must sign 3 or 4 of their own....KC, Baker, Jackson.... cut the over paid vets..... sign 3 -5 mid level free agents. And with 9 or 10* draft picks find more than 3 that can contribute next year. * I am not sure if they have two 5th round picks. They have N.O. pick.... their own ? |

The article is old, so I hope it's accurate. "Here’s a list of Redskins draft picks for 2017: First round (1) Second round (1) Third round (1) Fourth round (2 -- own, acquired from Jets) Fifth round (1 – acquired from Saints, lost one for 2015 trade for tight end Derek Carrier) Sixth round (2 -- own, acquired from Texans) Seventh round (1)" |
Re: Playoff hunt!
We need Tampa and Detroit to lose sooooo bad. That is our surest way in. Of course we need to finish today.
Minny just has no shot. |
Re: Playoff hunt!
Ok Saints. Lets do this! Dallas is going to beat Detroit too. Skins will control their own destiny once again...
Oh shit just read Earthquakes post on the gameday thread. That is right Detroit would have to lose again. Which i think they will anyway.
Well if they lose to Dallas on Monday then either result in the last week will be good for us as it will either give GB a loss or Detroit its second loss C'mon Saints! |

Re: Playoff hunt!
How many times do i have root for Dallas in one year, it's killing my soul.
Call it loser talk, but i'll be happy with 2 winning seasons in a row even if we don't make playoffs. |
