Re: Vikings Post-game Thread
Only thing we know for sure is Wentz isn't the long term answer and neither is Heinicke. Is it Howell? No idea and we probably aren't going to find out this year. It's back to a serious QB hunt this offseason.

I tend to agree with this for the most part. However, there is still a small possibility that this thing takes off with Wentz as the QB in the second half of the season, and if so, that at least opens up the possibility of Wentz being here longer than we think. I don't think it's likely, but you never know. |

They can dump Wentz after this season and they should do so unless he takes the team on a big win streak. Keeping him would necessitate too big a cap hit to take next season for someone who may not be the answer. |

If we continue to lose and Howell isn't given a shot at some point, that would be malpractice, IMO. We need to see what he can do before we draft a QB in Round 1. |

I don't see this team falling on it's face to the point where Howell would get a chance. |

Oddly enough The Falcons game in a few weeks could be for the 7th seed |

Yes, they CAN dump Wentz after the season, which is why it was at least a decent idea to bring him in; but that is my point - if he takes the team on a big win streak - or more, then that at least opens up the possibility of him being here beyond this year. |
Re: Vikings Post-game Thread
I mean, let's be honest. If Wentz piles up wins to end the season, they secure a wild card spot, and then manage to win a playoff game for the first time in 16 years, are they going to dump him? For who...?
It's not really an improbable scenario. They just took the current #2 seed to the wire, missing a few key players, and arguably should have beat them - with Heinicke as the QB. |

We don't need to see what Howell can do, Ron needs to see what he can do. Which he does, in practice. If Howell is impressing in practice, throwing accurate dimes, showing a great knowledge of the offense and the rules, hitting receivers all day and making the defense look silly by all means Ron should see what he has. But if Ron already watches the film of Howell in practice and it's generally unimpressive, no I don't need to see Howell in a game to determine if he should be the starter next year. I trust Ron's judgement - if he says Howell isn't ready that means he's not ready. |

I don't predict it does, but I don't think it's entirely unlikely either... |

Some of you think Sweat is mediocre, sacking the QB isn’t everything. Just to add on - it took our now-competent first-round linebacker almost a year and a half of his career to finally understand the NFL enough to make plays - and you guys think throwing a 5th round rookie qb to the wolves 10 weeks into his pro career is a smart move? |
Re: Vikings Post-game Thread
Cant help but think that if Howell looked better than Heinicke in practice he would be out there. Would seem to indicate that he looks worse than Heinicke which is a disturbing thought given how Heinicke played on Sunday. With prospect of new owners coming in Ron is very much on the hottest of seats, it may not ultimately save him but winning would be his only chance of sticking around.
