Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings
IF free agency was the Superbowl, the Redskins would be 6 time champions.

Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings
SS, any news on Ray Lewis - does the Bart Scott deal mean Ray is staying in Baltimore?

Adam Schefner reported that Ray Lewis is not returning to Baltimore and the Cowboys have no intention on signing any big named free-agents. So Look for Ray to go the Jets along with Bart Scott maybe. |

Don't know, he wants at least $10 million a year and I don't think he'll get that in Baltimore Looks like I might have been wrong on Jason Brown. He may not be coming here after all. Did you all hear that Ramsey might be replacing Rosenfels in Houston? It'll be the second time in his career that he replaces Rosenfels. |
Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings
Stacy Andrews apparently going to the Eagles? Not positive on this one yet

With all the money these two have, a joke about "stimulus package" seems appropriate - but I just can't think of one. |
Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings
Looks like Bart Scott is going to the Jets. I wonder if this means the Ravens will have enough money to keep Ray Ray.

Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings
With all these high priced free agents does this mean we are more likely to trade Rogers? I doubt we will be able to resign him and stay under the cap. Wouldn't trading him now for a 2nd to 3rd rounder be better then letting him walk next year?

We don't need to resign him. He's under contract. We hold all the cards as far as he and Jason Campbell are concerned. |

I know we have both of them for another season, but Rogers is walking into contract year and is going to command big money next year. Wouldn't the smart move be to trade him and draft a CB instead of letting him leave after the season and get nothing in return. |

You hold on to him for this year and hope he has a monster year and franchise him next year. |

He's still young and he's proven. I don't think it would be smart to trade him and draft another CB based on potential when we already know we've got a solid starter in place. I think what would be smart is to hold on to him this year, see how the whole CBA thing plays out, and if 2010 is in fact uncapped (as many around here think it will be), then we can pay him whatever. |

Giants sign M.Boley and R.Bernard.

All that's left is Canty, I hope he signs with GB. Good enough reason to draft Mack, we will need a stout OL going against the Giants, Cowboys and Eagles. |

Man, that Giants d-line is going to be even scarier. We better take an o-lineman at 13th. |

Can Haynesworth play o-line? LOL. Oh wait, he's supposed to be a bust, right. :smashfrea Seriously, I hope the FO takes notice of this. Although I wonder what the state of the Cowpukes and Iggles line is going to be next season. The Cowpukes lost Canty, but still have Ware. And like I said, I don't know about the Iggles. |

I wasn't talking about you, this is referring to my post on the AH/Dana Stubby thread. I'm concerned about the RT position. Heyer and Jensen are really not convincing me, I almost feel we should address this in the draft now that we have Dock. |

Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings
Springs might land with Pats. Someone had mentioned this when Springs was cut....I think SSmack.....(The Insider)?
If true and he gets a deal then I surely didn't see this one coming. But they do like the old guys at the end of their career. Usually they pickup the ones the can still ball consistently. Which Springs has been anything but. Good luck. SHAWN SPRINGS VISITING THE PATS Posted by Mike Florio on February 28, 2009, 10:59 p.m. Veteran cornerback Shawn Spring could be the latest member of the Patriots’ thirtysomething defense. The 12-year veteran, cut by the Redskins in the wake of the Albert Haynesworth signing, will visit the Pats on Sunday, according to Shalise Manza Young of the Providence Journal. Free-agent cornerback Leigh Bodden visited the Pats on Friday, but reportedly left without a contract. Sorry folks....WRONG THREAD! |

I hope that Heyer and Rinehart step up sf. I dont think Jansen is any more than a capable back up anymore with his inabilaty to stay healthy.. I would love to see Mack, Smith ,or Oher to come in and bolster the line with some youth and longevity! |
Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings
May have been mentioned already but I think the Lions got Bryant Johnson (overrated) and the Texans got Antonio Smith, lined up opposite Mario Williams that's a great move.

Seahawks signed Colin Cole (which could put them out of the Canty race), and the Vikings might be closing in on Housh (yet still no one to throw to him or Berrian)

Canty signs with G-men. Great FA moves.
Adam Schefter Giants continue to bolster defense, sign DT Canty Posted: March 1st, 2009 | Adam Schefter | Tags: Chris Canty, Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants New York continues making bold moves to shore up its defense. One day after signing defensive tackle Rocky Bernard and linebacker Michael Boley, the Giants signed free-agent defensive end Chris Canty to a six-year, $42 million contract that includes $17.25 million in guaranteed money. Now Dallas’ loss is New York’s gain. Dallas could not afford to keep Canty, and Green Bay was trying to arrange for him to visit the Packers. But Canty did not want to leave New York, nor the East Coast, and Sunday afternoon he took the Giants’ offer. The Giants have gotten defensive. Again. |
