#41 - Christian Ponder
Is that what you want, or what you think will happen?

wow Jordan at 10? I'd rather have Aldon Smith but honestly if Prince is available I'd take him.

Definitely what I want. I have no reasoned idea what will happen other than your frequent statements of interest regarding Quinn. Shanny often surprises. Quinn will certainly do.

Mayock has Jordan at #10 too.

Yes, he does. If we stay at 10 and 41, I'd be fine with that

Dan Shonka, the scout we spoke to, thinks they should take Jordan at 10 too.

Re: 2011 NFL Draft

Can Marvin Austin play the 5 technique (or nose)? All the reports I keep hearing are that he he doesn't have any work ethic problems, and is a dominating force on the field with 1st round talent. Unless he has an attitude problem I really don't mind his "red flag" for taking money. I'd love for him to slip to us in the second if he can play the 5 technique.

I don't know if he can play NT, but I'm sure he could play DE in the 3-4 alignment. At 6'2" and approx 310lbs, I think he could play the NT spot, but he'd be better at End.

If we get stuck at 10 then i would be happy with a plyer with Jordan's pedigree. I still would like to find a reasonable way to get Locker with the next pick though.

I can't see Locker being available at #41. they will be looking at the likes of Kaepernick or McElroy by then. 10 seems to high for a QB...but 41 seems to low...I think were fkd.

Re: 2011 NFL Draft

Dan Shonka, our honorary NFL Scout for the Warpath (but not the scout(s) who provides me with some inside info in case you thought he was), sent me these notes on Gabbert, Locker, and Ponder in order of preference

Blaine Gabbert

Delivers the ball suddenly to his receivers. No delay. Athletic and mobile. Stands tall in the pocket. Plays in a spread ball control passing attack.

Jake Locker
Outstanding athletic ability and a quick release.
May be best in a play action offense

Christian Ponder
Has had durability problems, but like Locker may be featured in a play action offense. A good ball control passer who is mobile enough to buy time with his feet. Tough and
smart.

I'm with Shonka. I'll say this too, if Gabbert falls to 10th overall, I'm jumping for joy.

Gabbert could easily go to Carolina, but will not fall past Arizona. Newton will likely be in Buffalo and possibly Carolina as well.
