Exactly. Getting weapons for RGIII is a definite need.
The first priority should be adding a couple of people that can block for RG3. |
Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
Saw that Riley had resigned on our NFLTweeter feed.

it depends on what they paid him. As Cooley said today you can get a good ILB in the 4 or 5 round |

Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
Ya, anything more than 4 per and I think we overspent on an area we could have brought bodies in to compete for, and take the best two out of the bunch. But I guess something has to be said for continuitys sake. Riley was definitely the best ILB we had last year, maybe with him as the lead LB, he can grow and become an all pro? Who knows, I just wish we had a new DC, I still cannot believe that Haslett is still going to be on the sidelines........
So you have no confidence that Thompson will be able to grow into this role? That remains to be seen. But this has been the problem around here, not having the ability to develop our own players, or not doing it enough.
Signing a playmaker like Sproles isn't the same as not developing our own. Thompson was a 5th round draft pick from last year, who was out with injury. If anything, bringing Sproles in on a reasonable two year deal would let us develop Thompson properly. Expecting him to be a Sproles - like playmaker after being put on IR his rookie(only) season is likewise overvaluing our own player and missing an opportunity to take advantage of another team's poor salary cap management. |

Well, my opinion of our new Head coach just skyrocketed!

I agree but as we say when we get a new coach these ain't his players. |

Chris Cooley had an interesting take on the O line, he said Lictensteiger would be moved to center, and the Redskins were happy with their tackles |
Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
Why wouldn't they be? Polumbus is awesome

Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
If we are happy with our tackles then Bobby Griff is happy with grass stains on his butt.

I didn't see anything from him last year that would make me pass over a proven player like Sproles. We have homegrown players in Morris and Helu already in the backfield. |
Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
Yep, Thompson hasn't shown us much flash yet other than a pr against Tampa scrubs.

For his justification of his idea he took one play (an intercepted pass) from a game that the Bengals offense scored 27 points, and won the game to show why a new offensive co-ordinator will improve the Bengals, THEN realize the question was about how the Redskins would do under Gruden... mind blowing. hypothetical discussion if VC had still been with the Redskins at the time of TW's drafting DS: What do you think of Trent Williams VC: Man, The Terps have this LT that just blew away the Sooners DE. DS: Well what about TW? VC: Just think if the Terps LT does that, and TW practices against that DE every day, just what does that say about TW. DS: ?? VC: All I'm saying is that the Terps LT sure blew him off the line on that one play DS: the Terps LT blew off TW? wait, so are you saying we should get the Terps guy? and so on in an infinite loop of vc mumbo speak |
