The same people who are so excited about DeSean will be the first people bitching once he becomes a cancer. I don't see why we don't draft Benjamin from FSU in the second round and call it a day. In no way, shape, or form is this a smart move. Throwing all that money that he will demand at someone who is known to be a prima donna and not a good teammate in the locker room as opposed to drafting some younger talent is asinine.
I hear ya, I feel like Vinnie C when I start saying get him. BUT he would solidify our receiving corps free up the 2nd pick for a RT, and he would give us a solid punt return threat. I don't think it will happen because I think Bruce will be the anti Vinnie, which is generally what we needed here. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
I am just playing devils advocate Alvin. They had money invested there because they were able to with so many of their key players coming in relatively cheap because they drafted well.
Like I said earlier in the thread, I wish we would have spent some money at S. If we make a big play for him so be it, but I think we needed on D or up front. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
Maybe its an early April fools day.

Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
The Ravens won with offense as well, J Jones , T Smith and A Boldin is a solid to great core that wasn't cheap.
And once he makes our offense number one in the league and making us a contender for years you will be saying I'm so glad we signed him.
That will not happen. When have we ever signed a big name free agent and he produced like he did with his old team? Rarely happens, if at all for us. I'm just saying, the guy is a cancer, why else would philly cut their best receiver? Let's be smart like we have been all March. |

Jones and Smith were dirt cheap. Boldin was the only high-priced WR on the roster.. We already have Garçon. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
I was killed from my earlier post that Aldrick Robinson has some of the same attributes as DeSean Jackson. They both are deep threat WR's and can run after the catch. I'm not saying Robinson is as talented as DeSean but he is much cheaper and doesn't come with the baggage. I'm torn on this because the last time the Eagles gave away their star player it was McNasty. We got hosed on that deal. The Eagles not only gave away their best WR but they have a cap hit this year for 6.5 million for releasing D-Jax. They must really wanted to get rid of him. We have seen DeSean be a distraction for the Eagles over the years , but also seen him make big time plays. If the price is right sometimes you have to roll the dice and hope he grows up and becomes a real pro. Its funny if we sign him we get blasted by the Haters. Yes we have made some dumb free agent signings but DeSean is 27yrs old with tons of talent so how can you not take the risk if you need a another WR to go along with Garcon. This gives RGIII another big time playmaker and who says if we draft a WR he will be productive. I read that D.Hall wants him here so lets make it happen for the right price. HTTR

Number one, yes, he is a great receiver. He would be a great threat, and RG3 knows how to throw the deep ball. EVERYTHING would open up for the rest of our offense. No question. Number two, though, is we should get him only if Gruden thinks he can control him, and make him a long time contributor. Not because DHall or anyone else wants him here. |

The key here is Robinson actually has to make the catch. His hands are a question mark, though admittedly they got a little better towards the end of the season... and he wasn't really known for running any routes except the fly. I'd like to see what he can do on a real route and if he can make guys miss. |

I agree there will probably be no tackle worth taking at #34, however I doubt you can get an extra 3rd for trading down a dozen spots |
