It's looking more and more like the best option for the skins is to franchise and trade Kirk. Get something out this.

I don't know if anyone will give up a 1st for Kirk, with all the young QB's in this draft it will be hard to imagine that. MAYBE Denver but that is a Big Q too with their money situation. |

I don't get why the transition tag option gets disregarded so quickly, here and in the media. If the FO can ask (or at least get a feel of) if Kirk would sign offers from other teams in that situation, then it's a good option: -either he signs a crazy offer that you don't want to match and you can finally move on and say "We should've signed you 2 years ago, but you played it right, good luck to you we're not paying that kind of money" -or he signs an offer that you're willing to match and you know you got him at market value. You only need to know that he's not gonna make it backfire by not signing any offers and just taking the 28 M. But I think he made it pretty clear he wants to get settled. So I'm guessing the FO could get that information from his agent. |

Makes more sense now, and yes the JETS are the team I worry about the most actually.. They have a ton of room and have said they are interested before. In fact weren't they rumored to be a trade partner for Kirk a couple years ago? |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I think it comes down to this, if the Skins are serious about keeping him, they need to come strong with an offer that screams we want you back. Otherwise let him hit the market to gauge his true value and hope he’s interested in letting the Skins counter.

Which is what I think will happen, he'll hit the market and go where he wants to go. Might be DC, I doubt it but we will see soon enough thankfully. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
agree with a lot of the above post - i have so many mixed feelings about this QB conundrum.

Mmmmh. It was my understanding the only things to match were the average/year and the guaranteed money. Must have misunderstood, can't find anything online really detailed about what you'd have to match. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
if Cousins is not worth a 1st round pick then why in the world would you make him the highest paid Qb ? I would surely think that if we franchised him at least one team would give a 1st round pick for him..why can't the skins sign him for what he wants then turn around and trade him? and if his salary is to much then we overpaid big time. how the hell is this team ever gonna break through when we keep taking steps back? we are getting weaker every year. Is there any scenario where the skins can get compensated with a high draft pick?

[/B] Yeah hoping a team gives us a 1 for him, Jets have a high pick but they won't let that go IMO, Browns have 2 top 4 picks... They may but doubtful. Denver? That is the only legit trade partner imo. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I think I'm agreeing that the team will offer Cousins an aggressive offer and if Cousins turns it down, he'll be cut loose to test free agency. We'll see if he chooses to let the 'skins match or not. It's either Denver or NY Jets.

Jets have been rumored to go after him and Bell hard this OS. |
