Just this game against the Eagles? You're not predicting us to go 16-0 are you?

Sorry dude, but struggling against the Dolphins isn't exactly the mark of a turn-around. There's still a lot of work to do, and one week isn't enough time to work out all the obvious kinks. Expect Jim Johnson to have something special planned for Stephon Heyer or whomever starts at RT.

Don't forget folks, the 'Phins had the ball on our 8-yard line towards the end of the fourth quarter before they self-destructed with penalties. That game could have easily gone the other way, and the mood around here would be quite a bit different.

The way the Eagles have had our number over the last few years, (except 2005), I don't see any way we can win this game in Philly -- at home, we have a chance. But not this week.

Eagles 28
Skins 13
The game could have went in several different directions. If the Skins came away with a TD instead of a FG on the drive that Jansen got hurt, it could have been a different game. If the Dolphins 4th down gamble at the end of the first half didn't work out... different game.

If this game was in Washington I would take the Skins but its not so I gotta pick Philly. I just dont see Philly losing their home opener on Mon night. If the Skins had a little more fire power on offense I might have picked them but they are still struggling to score. I think the crowd will be the difference causing the Skins O to make a turnover that loses the game.

Phila 17
Skins 10
I hate ta do it, but I just think we are not there yet and the Eagles are gonna be fired up after the loss and their home opener. It will be a close one, but the home team pulls this one out.

Iggles 20
Skins 16 (another 3 field goals hurts us)

Man, I hope I am wrong but I had this away game a loss on our 10-6 run to the playoffs.
with the game @ philthy i would say it will be a tie ballgame going into the 4th quarter 14-14 and my heart says we hold onto the ball for (TOP) to take some time off the clock but things get hairy .we trade it back and forth with good defense and down the stretch kick the field goal to win it .

eagles at home will be tough and its a division game to boot early in the season.

skins 17-14 ....gotta go with the heart but my gut aint feeling the same...
my gut says 24-17 philly..

Redskins 24 - Eagles 13

This will be McNabb's final game of the season.

Well it is possible, he's not as mobile as he used to be and we have an extremely fast defense.

Seriously, I watched the Eagles-Packers game last week and Philly looked HORRIBLE against a mediocre team.

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
Almost 60% is not elite in a west coast offense. He completed 54% before he got hurt again last year. If Jason Campbell lost all those big games, I think I, and many others, would be saying, "Jason Campbell can't win the big game." I don't understand the devotion of Redskins fans for this guy. The Eagles fans watch him every week and they don't feel this way about him. Donovan is a good quarterback who has been dinged up for the last three years. He and the offense he plays in lean heavily on the screen pass which pads his stats and doesn't require him to do much. He used to make a lot of plays with legs, now he sometimes makes plays with his arm. He's not now what he once was, and what he once was was not what some people think it was. I don't understand why Redskins fans have such an emotional attachment to a Philadelphia Eagle.
This is actually one of the reasons I feel Andy Reid is a top 5 coach...of all time. The perception of McNabb around the league is that he's an unstoppable force of nature, and you just have to hope to contain him. He's beaten tight coverage with his arm enough times to theoretically justify the fear he strikes into opponents. But all this has served to do is allow really simple plays like the screen and draws to work to perfection for Westbrook (a truly great player). So essentially, because people feel that McNabb is elite, defenses play very conservative against him in general, and the west coast works to perfection.

If defenses around the league would treat McNabb like a Roethlisberger or a Hasselbeck, it would allow them to defend some of Philly's bread and butter plays better. Yeah, McNabb would beat you deep every once in awhile (like he does anyway), but ultimately the Eagles offense would be less effective.

And I have to say, when you do a good enough job to distort reality not only in your only locker room, but around the entire league, thats not just good coaching, thats downright exceptional coaching that creates a decisive competitive advantage for your team.

Much more effective than videotaping signals.

Anyway, it's on GW this week to play his own game and not get beaten by Brian Westbrook.

Fixed your typos.

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions

When I looked at the schedule a few weeks ago to analyze the W's and L's and potential record for this season this game was a LOSS. I don't know many people in their right minds who would have thought the Skins would steal one in Philly based on what we saw in the preseason. I still think the Skins will end up 10-6 and this will be one of the Losses. I hope I am wrong and I will be screaming and holler'n just like any other fan but that doesn't mean I can't look at this logically and say the odds are very much against us and I am not a Redskin fan because of that assessment.

Let's be realistic, this is a team that will get better and better each week. There is some light at the end of the tunnel, unfortunately this week I think will be a struggle and the Skins are just not good enough to overcome those adverse conditions just YET.

I agree that Philly didnt look good but the game was in GB. For that matter, the Skins didnt look all that great (at home) against a below average Miami team.

Like I said if this game was in DC the Skins win but its not so they dont.

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions

this is a monstrous game...it could really catapult us into a phenomenal season...looking at our D, they'll be ready. Looking at the Eagles offense, I'm not that impressed....it'll come down to our offense. We HAVE to get into the endzone. We should have destroyed the dolphins when you look at the stats, but just like last year, we couldn't finish the drives with TD's...I'll be optomistic and say the O gets in gear...21-13 skins

I agree, our offense has to finish drives with touchdowns. If we keep on settling for field goals I think we are going to have to settle for another sub
.500 season.

You keep saying "below" average Miami team. Yes, a below-average team with one of the best defenses in the NFL.

Philly got beat by a below-average team, one without even a RB they can rely on.

Miami's offense is not great, but we beat one of the top defenses. In fact, we ran all over them.

Philly should not be very hard for us to beat.

Being a true fan is not being realistic. No real fan goes into a game saying "I think we'll lose by a field goal". :)

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions

Philly is a 7 point favorite, Over/Under is 39. Now, from that game last week, there's no way this is going to fly. I'm guessing they are trying to get people to bet on the Skins perhaps.

Philly gets the edge playing at home. They have one of the best offensive threats in the league in Brian Westbrook. McNabb is hobbled still by injuries, and they have a bunch of #3 WRs playing for them. Their defense is carried by Takeo Spikes, Brian Dawkins, and Sheldon Brown.

The Skins are coming off an overtime win at home against a less than stellar Dolphins team. Campbell showed off his youth with several 20+ yard passes along with several mistakes. The tandem of Portis and Betts will carry the load all year, as they did last week (34 carries, 157 yards, 1 TD). Randle El will not have many games this year like this past one, especially with the quality in the Eagles secondary. Cooley needs to get the ball more for this offense to be successful. The defense played fairly well, and will need a plan to contain Westbrook and make McNabb throw into our secondary.

Monday Night, Eagles at home, is a recipe for destruction. No matter what the records are, when the NFC East teams play each other, it's a war.

Eagles 20
Skins 17

Last minute FG by Akers, folllowed by a Campbell interception ends the game. Take the Skins with the points and the under.
