Re: Q.B. competition?
JC has his head on strait IMO. When they attempted to get Cassel, Cutler got offended and threw a fit... JC just looked over at the chip that was already on his shoulder, and watched it grow. His determination and lack of crying and complaining should be a sign to all Redskins fans that we at least have a mentally sound QB that at least wants to play and will give his all to do what he can for the franchise. If he fails this season, we will all know that he simply does not have the skills/talent that we thought we were getting when we drafted him. This is what separates JC from Cutler, and Leftwich for that matter. In a contract year, after trying to be traded, (potentially) having a semi-talented wanna-be starter under him, and having shown he legitimately wants to play for us and give his all every team we play should be afraid. Determination does not win championships, but heart will prevail!
Heart doesn't amount to squat unless you have a great supporting cast. That my friend, is going to be any Redskin QB's problem for the next couple years at least, and that is even if we got Cutler!!!!! Everything is going to hinge on how our young receivers develop and how we deal with rebuilding the offensive line. Everyone(especially Bradshaw) always talked about Favre's big heart, but you know ,what? Without that excellent supporting cast of his, he was an aging average QB, who was reduced to trying to force plays and making himself an ass in the end. Also what is determination? It is the drive to succeed, so your statement about determination not winning championships and heart prevailing is a rather large fallacy!!!! |
Re: Q.B. competition?
Here is Cooley's take on Colt Brennan.
Chris Cooley, Washington Redskins No questions asked, Colt has the potential to be a starter in the NFL. He has all the qualities to get the job done. In the next couple of years, he'll get a shot somewhere. NFL Live Chat |
Re: Q.B. competition?
I like Colt, not sayin he is the best thing since sliced bread but he plays with energy and the rest of the players feed off of him. I like his gunslinger mentality.and the way he plays.

Re: Q.B. competition?

|
Re: Q.B. competition?
Like Mason, McMullen, etc.
You know, the guys that won't make the team any way. |

It's the offseason man, the offseason. LOL. |
Seth Wickersham examines the art of being a backup QB - ESPN
Pretty decent thread bout a quarterback accepting the fact he will be a backup. Excerpt from it. "First, he says, a backup has to be pure in his motives so that he earns the starter's trust. Only then does the No. 1 guy not feel threatened. For instance, last season Campbell, playing in his seventh offensive system in eight seasons going back to college, had a few questions about a pass-protection scheme, questions he was too embarrassed to ask. So Collins, being a friend first and a position rival second, asked the coaches for him. "It works much better when guys are working together on the same team," Collins says."
That's great for Collins. And it just further illustrates how big of a p---y JC is. He was embarrassed to ask about a pass-protection scheme??? Do what!? Everyone looks to the positive in how Jason didn't respond like Cutler. I think it illustrates a flaw that Jason has in his personality. He's too soft spoken, and he doesnt stand up for himself. Where is the confidence? |

Where is the confidence?
Cooley indicated on NFLN this week that Jason has stepped up and is taking the reigns. Because he was reluctant to ask what he felt may have been a "stupid" question makes him a p---y?? That's a reach. Also, it's great for Collins to do that for JC, not so great to tell an ESPN reporter about it. Check out the line above my avatar. Better get with the program and start rooting for JC. Like it or not, he's the man for '09. If he's not successful, the Skins won't be successful. |
Re: Q.B. competition?
Totally agree with you on our success being directly linked to Jason's growth. That's why im settling in for another long mediocre season.

So I guess you would have been happier if he demanded a trade and whined his way outta town? |
Re: Q.B. competition?
Not at all. I just knew he was going to react close to how he did because it's in his personality to keep quiet. I'm just worried, it's not because he classy, but because he doesnt know how to stand up for himself. That quote about Todd Collins asking the coaches a pass protection question because Jason was embarrassed really really sucks.
Havent you ever gotten frustrated with the same game face he has, win or lose? TD or Int. I see no emotion. |
