Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version
BHA, doesn't Banks as KR/PR give you 54?

Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version
Someone mentioned this on the Monday Morning QB show on ESPN 980, and it's a good point: Reed Doughty appears to be relatively un-athletic and allows the pass to be completed more than he breaks the pass up. But there doesn't seem to be much debate that he'll be lining up next to Landry at the free safety position -- and that should be fairly alarming for anyone concerned about pass defense.
If opponents start lighting it up through the air against us, I'd be willing to bet Doughty will be the primary target. |
Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version
Thanks for pointing that out. I copied Dirtbag's roster to use as a template and forgot to remove Banks. There's no way Banks makes the team. Even if he weren't too small to have an NFL career longer than 3 seasons, he puts the ball on the ground far too often. I think he's only got a 50/50 shot of making our practice squad. If anyone on the bubble played their way off the team last night, it was Banks. It won't be a tough decision for Shanahan.

Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version
Of course my picks (if I made them early in the season are wrong so now the cardinal game is over I'm going to make my prediction...
Offense: 25 QB: McNabb, Grossman, Beck RB: Portis, Johnson, Packer, Torian Practice Squad: K.Williams FB: Sellers WR: Moss, Galloway, Armstrong, Thomas, Austin Practice Squad: Banks IR Furrey, Kelly TE: Davis, Cooley, Vickers PS: Paulsen LT: Williams, Heyer LG: Dockery, Lictensteiger C: Rabach, Montgomery PS: Cook RG: Hicks, Rinehart RT: Brown, PS: Capers Defense: 25 DE: Haynesworth, Holliday NT: Kemo, Golston DE: Carriker, Daniels, Jarmon OLB: Alexander, Orakpo, Carter, Wilson, ILB: Rocky, Fletcher, Blades, Riley IR: Henson CB: Rogers, Hall, Buchanon, Tryon, Barnes, Westbrook FS: Moore, Doughty PS: Russell SS: Landry, Horton Special Teamers 3 K: Gano P: Bidwell LS: Sundberg Possible Wildcard: Houshmandzadeh became available for trade I'd imagine we'd give them Horton or Doughty because they need safety help. |
Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version
Offense
QB - McNabb - Grossman - Beck RB - Portis - Johnson - Torain - Parker FB - Sellers WR - Moss - Thomas - Galloway - Armstrong - Austin TE - Cooley - Davis - Paulsen OT - Brown - Heyer - Williams OG - Lichtensteiger - Dockery - Hicks C - Rabach OL - Montgomery Total: 24 Defense DL - Haynesworth - Daniels - Holliday - Kemo - Carrikier - Golston - Jarmon LB - Orakpo - Wilson - Carter - Alexander - Fletcher - Blades - McIntosh - Riley - Henson CB - Hall - Tryon - Rogers - Buchanan - Robinson S - Moore - Horton - Carter - Landry - Doughty Total: 26 Special Teams K - Gano P - Bidwell LS - Sudenberg Total: 3 Total Overall: 53 Some hard choices to be made. On offense it will come down to 9 OL, 4 RB or 6 WR On defense the CB position is a little wide open. I can see a serious battle for the 4th and 5th CB spots with Barnes being the loser. I possible have to many LBs but who knows? |
Take away the fumbles and the kid would probably be a lock. Another muff last night makes him a big concern for me. If you can't be trusted to at least field a clean punt 99% of the time, you're not going to have a job for very long.
Yeah when I was just putting together my roster it was plain as day that without the ball security issues he is a complete and utter lock. He blew it. I think he actually played his way off the team putting the ball on the ground twice last night. Maybe they PS him but I gotta think another team picks him up. |
Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version

QB - McNabb - Grossman - Beck RB - Portis - Johnson - Torain - Williams FB - Sellers WR - Moss - Thomas - Galloway - Armstrong - Austin - Banks TE - Cooley - Davis - Paulsen OT - Brown - Heyer - Williams OG - Lichtensteiger - Dockery - Hicks C - Rabach OL - Montgomery Total: 25 Defense DL - Haynesworth - Daniels - Holliday - Kemo - Carrikier - Golston - Bryant LB - Orakpo - Wilson - Carter - Alexander - Fletcher - McIntosh - Riley - Henson CB - Hall - Tryon - Rogers - Buchanon - Barnes - Robinson S - Moore - Horton - Landry - Doughty Total: 25 Special Teams K - Gano P - Bidwell LS - Sudenberg Total: 3 Total Overall: 53 So I used the template from FRPLG with a few tweaks. Parker is gone, Williams makes the team. I still think Banks makes it as the 6th WR. Buchanon will be the primary PR and Thomas the primary KR. Banks will be inactive most weeks but in a pinch can be activated and play but I don't see him being exposed to the practice squad with what he's put on tape thus far. I cut Jarmon which is a huge waste of a pick IMO at this point. He's to slow to be a LB and not stout enough to be a DE. He's a much better 4-3 fit but trying to hold and trade him will just be a waste of a roster spot. I put Barnes on the team. I think his value is in being able to be physical in blitz packages as well as playing on ST. I also put Bryant on the DL because he's shown more than Kemo to this point and released Blades. I just don't see him as good of a fit anymore and he's missed a lot of tackles in the preseason. Riley and Henson are solid backups in those spots. |
Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version
Do we know the extent of Henson's injury yet?

With Moore out we'll have 5 safeties and Carter is the only real option for the 4th safety right now. |
Do we know the extent of Henson's injury yet?
Not that I know of...I assumed it was only a mild sprain and he would be fine. Obviously if he going to miss extended time it changes things up quite a bit. He probably isn't replaced by anybody but then we probably keep an extra OL or WR. |
Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version
So am I the only one who thinks Galloway won't be on the team by our first regular season game?

Probably, the only way Galloway doesn't make the team is if a true #2 becomes available. Since that's not likely to happen before tomorrow Galloway will be on the team. |

Yeah and even if we picked up someone tomorrow it's like that guy is going to be up to speed with things for a while, unless he played under either one of the Shanahans before. Galloway is likely to be here for a while. |
Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version
Funny how the Galloway sign back whenever was viewed as him coming in a couch/mentor type.
By him taking the number 2 spot it pretty much says DT and MK were huge bust. |
Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version
M- honestly I did not see anything from DT that made me think hey we got our guy last night. More Drops.
He may have taken the punt and kick return job though with Banks putting the ball on the ground so much. |
