Re: Anyone bothered that McNabb STILL has no new contract??
From the article, pretty much sums it up for me:
No disrespect intended to the professional Grossman, but there's a reason why he's a backup. Actually, many reasons. He helped the Chicago Bears reach the Super Bowl in his best season as a starter in 2006 (3,193 yards passing, 23 touchdowns, 20 interceptions), but he failed to keep the job and no longer is considered a starting-caliber NFL quarterback. That's not a criticism. It's a fact.

Yeah, but can Donovan do THIS? [YT]WxvWriAQGfc[/YT] |

Well with his current stats I guess he is not concerned right now until they improve and they really only have room to go up. |
Re: Anyone bothered that McNabb STILL has no new contract??
Is anyone else bothered that we are almost half way into this season and our QB, Donovan still doesnt have a new contract??? I may be paranoid, but it makes me think that maybe Shanahan doesnt have faith in him to be his long-term QB.
We know with his injuries and advancing age, that McNabb maybe only had about 2 or 3 years left when he was traded here. Do you think that is a factor on why he hasnt been re-signed? Maybe they are worried about giving him big money when he could only have 1 year left or they dont want to sign him to a longer term deal because he is an injury concern.. I searched and hadn't seen any new threads on this in a while, and just wanted to weigh in now that the season is about halfway....
Not at all. If we can avoid another lengthy overpaid contract and not Mark Brunell again that would be great. I would expect Shanahan to want to groom a young talent but who knows if he is up to the challenge and has the time for that. Draft picks arent a luxury we have. Does anyone know of what QB's that will be Free Agents next year. In my dreams Brees becomes available. |

Does anyone feel like they're in Philly?? Seriously, 7 games and McNabb doesnt deserve to be a Skin? Just let him go after the season? It's the FIRST year under a totally NEW regime for the Skins on top of McNabb's first year on the team! I actually have confidence in our offense right now when on the field. Sure he hasn't been awesome but I don't believe he's lost any games for us. We still have tons of work to do to get this team to where Shanny wants it, tons. We're 4-3, you couldnt ask for anything more right now. We've also been in every game. I'm sure both sides are just fine in terms of a contract. Let's just take it a week at a time.
I remember aside from all the hype in pre-season, I think the OL hasn't failed (only DDockery) Portis done but Torrain stepped up, havent seen FDavis utilized in a dual TE gameplan, the WR's are performing as expected except Moss is excelling and teams arent trying to take him away yet. I think McNabb is doing great. Campbell would have lost games Don. at least has made 80-90 yard drives and been a real leader on the field. I worry about the times we have good field position and can't capitalize. Not just b/c I bought the wife and I McNabb jerseys but i say keep him ust dont over pay. In another year when we have a worthy backup or another great veteran (Rex not talking about you) we will pass the reins. IMO. |

I just heard the same the on the NFL network.

Re: Anyone bothered that McNabb STILL has no new contract??
Not to down play this, but it just strikes me as the team trying to smooth over things a bit given all the drama lately.

Re: Anyone bothered that McNabb STILL has no new contract??
^ yea I agree matty.. I wonder if they will extend him for 1 or 2 years? Maybe longer

Agreed. It worked in Philly. 1) McNabb benched as a wake up call, then 2) McNabb responded by playing well but feeling hurt, then 3) hurt feelings soothed with money |
Re: Anyone bothered that McNabb STILL has no new contract??
Whether we like it or not we're stuck with McNabb for a few years. Just cause there is no extension doesn't mean anything. To be honest I really don't think there is going to be a big market for him anyway. He may not have a choice but to resign here.

Re: Anyone bothered that McNabb STILL has no new contract??
I would think the Cards and Vikes would be very interested in him.

At this point is Tavarus Jackson any worse than McNabb?? I don't know... I'd expect the Cards to go with one of the guys in the draft. |
Re: Anyone bothered that McNabb STILL has no new contract??
Jackson hasn't proven anything yet in this league. You're kidding yourself if you don't think there would be a market for McNabb.
