Re: Camp Battles- The journey to 53
From John Keim:
11. Hard not to like Trent Williams’ block of Ray Lewis on Tim Hightower’s touchdown run. But first it was Jammal Brown, who turned Terrell Suggs outside; Hightower cut inside and then received nice blocks from Will Montgomery and Kory Lichtensteiger and, of course, Williams. The guy who capped the run? Terrence Austin. It wasn’t a big block, but he came from the left side and, after a pit stop on another defender, ran to the safety. All Austin did was knock the safety a couple yards back. That, in turn, forced him to take a longer angle to the ball. And Hightower barely got inside the pylon. Had Austin not blocked him, Hightower doesn’t score. A team effort. There's a lot about Austin to like. I think this guy is going to be a real difference maker in our offense. |
One thing I was thinking about since the Jenkins injury..
What about moving Chris Neild to DE? He's a smaller NT but has great straength and quickness for a big guy. I think 3/4 DE would be a great fit for him.
Its a good idea, I was thinking the same thing, considering the packers played with two NT's in Raji and Pickett. We could sign this guy though as depth. Jarvis Green - Houston Texans - 2011 Player Profile - Rotoworld.com |
Re: Camp Battles- The journey to 53
Free agent DE Jarvis Green is mulling retirement.
If he does not want to play football we don't want him here!!!!!! I agree with a lot of you here on the board, Austin is impressing the hell out of me! |
Re: Camp Battles- The journey to 53
I hope we just don't sign someone just to sign someone.

This. I think Darrion Scott has looked good enough in preseason to earn the spot, although I still hold a lot of animosity towards him for the f'd up things he did to his kid a couple years ago. This is one of those cases where I'll put aside my dislike for the guy for the team I root for. |
Re: Camp Battles- The journey to 53
Man.. I don't see how we keep Torain. He's played 12 games out of a potential 48 for his career, and as a running back, one of the key traits is durability. He's already getting worn down because of these injuries, and now he has a jacked hand?
I say we cut Torain, and add Royster to the team while putting Droughns on the PS. |

Re: Camp Battles- The journey to 53
Austin makes the team, and to be honest. I wouldn't be surprised if he's our Santana Moss in a few years, and takes over the #3 spot late this year, and into next year.
He looks really electric out there and is always pushing for that extra yard while holding on to the ball. I don't want to jinx him, but I haven't seen him drop a pass since he's been in the preseason last year. I'm pumped for the guy. He looks like a future star.
Austin seems to get it. A young man who understands what it takes both mental and physical to make it in this league. His time very well may have arrived. Landry out yet again. Not good for a guy to miss all this time. |
Re: Camp Battles- The journey to 53
He said he would be ready for the opening game, if he is then I dont care about him missing preseason games, as long as he has been getting the mental reps to help him communicate back there.

Re: Camp Battles- The journey to 53
No surprise. Sounds like LL may be iffy for the opener too. Hope he gets well soon.

As much as I want to keep the youth movement going, it is too risky to let ATV go IMO. We would be in a dicey situation if Hightower went out.

Torain's a young vet, he's only 25. I agree, if anything were to happen to Hightower and Torain not be available, we would be down to two rookies, Helu and Royester....not a good situation especially if Keland Williams is also released. I would think one of the veterans would have to stay. I think any team would be in trouble if they lost their starter and their #2 guy. I think we're set at RB. |
