Once again The Goat will have as many tackles and forced fumbles in an NFL game as Laron Landry this Sunday
Well of course he will. He is The GOAT, is he not? |

El oh el! I'm not the greatest of all time...goat is nickname friends gave me long ago for eating everything in sight (and never gaining a pound). Still wanna eat like i did in college but the results are much different now hehe |
They can, though I'm not sure it makes sense to do so.
Does'nt a transition tag mean a player can go get his best deal and we can match it. I think that Landry's value is probably a lot less than he is worth, if he ever stays healthy again. Also, most teams dont even make an offer because they know all the other team has to do is match the offer. |
Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
The issue with Landry is that he was a top pick and hasn't played poorly. You look at the second contracts guys get, and being a former high pick plays a big role for some reason. Ryan Clark played great for us but no one gave him a contract. Lavaar played like shit his last year here and got offered something like 35 mil. Deangelo Hall hasn't had one good year in his career and has gotten two huge contracts. I'm sure london fletcher's 1st contract from buffalo wasn't anything special. Reggie Bush didnt deserve to be making 5 mil a year. Eli Manning didn't belong anywhere near the 100 mil qb club when he got his offer.
When players get a rookie contract of 30 mil, its hard to tell them (after they have supposedly improved over the past few years) that they now deserve a 15 mil contract (not that I think Landry deserves 15 mil). Of course this phenomenon doesn't hold true even close to 100%, but there does seem to be a strong correlation. I just think Landry is going to make more money than he's worth, simply because he was picked so high. I hate "potential" |

Damn, that must have been pretty awesome. I wish I had that ability. |

Unless the rules have changed you're not entitled to compensation if you don't match a transition tagged players offer |
Landry is a bag of upper body muscle.
But he is hot a high caliber safety. I'm not even sure if he is a medium caliber safety. He's an athlete but hes not a smart one. He's not a game changer. He doesn't make big plays. He's injury prone. If his contract is up let him go we can do better.
You sure got that right. Good trade bait though for a OL stud. |

Can't trade a guy that's not under contract. |

Matty: Always with the details... Why can't you just let folks have their fantasies run wild? By the way, if you agree that Landry has all those faults, why would ANY team trade an"OL stud" to get him? Did Vinny C. get a GM job somewhere? |
Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
Landry has turned into Malcolm Kelly over the last 12 months. If it's not an achilles, then it's a groin. I would not overpay to keep a guy who seemingly will never give you 16 games again. I really miss #21.

Or do teams trade awful players to get the player that want? Vinny is your mentor. Say no to the Vinny. Break free your chains trade specialist. |

I believe he is under contract with the Redskins as we speak. |

He is, but the trade deadline for this season has passed. After the season he becomes a restricted free agent. |

So he can't be traded. Didn't know that. I stand corrected. He would have been good trade bait. |

He'll be a restricted free agent? Doesn't that mean compensation from the team who potentially signs him? |
