They got back a few of their players. They didn't lose them for the year. Matthews was one of them. Got hurt in the game with us, came back later in the season.

Yes, and you saw how they started the season. A couple of their guys came back in that last part of the season during their run.

You guys keep saying this, but you are presenting NO Evidence. SHOW me. Show me who they lost, for how long, and what position. If they aren't a starter, don't even bother mentioning it.
Me and you had this same discussion a couple of weeks ago and i linked an article from the washington post for you to read. It was from like the week before the season started and they were already decimated but it pointed out a handful of starters that were already lost for the year. I also than named a handful of others who went down during the season. No offense but if you dont believe me that the 2011 Giants were ravaged by injury isnt it your job to do the research? I aint doing it again. :)
**** it, I did the research myself.

15 on the IR list and most of these guys were NOT starters. Barnett, Finley, Grant and Burnett were the only real starters. Four guys as compared to our 8 (if you include jackson). Not even.

Here is the list of Giants players who have been injured during the 2011 season that were starters and that were out the whole year.

1. CB Terrell Thomas – Out for season/IR List

2. LB Jonathan Goff

Two god damn starters. TWO!!!. Yes, they had a ton of injuries, but to back ups and second string personnel, not to starters. They also had injuries to several of their starters but for a few games, NOT the whole season. Even when some key guys went out with minor injuries, that team stunk. As soon as they came back, they started winning again.

So both of your are misguided in your claims that these teams lost just as many starters as we did and still succeeded. They didn't.
Wouldn't it look worse for a teams non starter to have all the injuries because they have less playing time and contact. It happens nothing differetn here with the skins. Hell most players have their own trainin/trainers durn the off season and come to the season in shape. Just another thing for people to find wrong with our team.

I did the research and the Giants only lost 2 starters for the year. TWO. TWO. Most of their IR were backups. The starters that were injured were out a few games, NOT the whole season.

So, again..........show me a team that has lost the amount of starters we have (FOR THE SEASON) and still went on to do well.

Sure, injuries do happen. But you aren't going to lose 7-8 of your starters (for the season) and still do well. Not happening and have yet to find me one person that can show me where it has happened.

I think there are two seperate parts to this discussion.

1) the skins must have a horrible strength and conditioning program because of our injuries. - I don't think this has much merit.

2) the skins injuries this year to key players has negatively affected our record. -To me this seems obvious.

I'm too lazy to look up all the stats, but it sure would feel more even if we were facing the Cowboys with them missing Ware, Witten and Sensabaugh.... and Bryant was playing with turf toe.

now its 8 starters? Helu was not slated as a starter - didnt morris start week one. Garcon is back so if we cant count the Giants that didnt miss the WHOLE YEAR than we cant count him. Prince Amakamura played 7 games last year so how does he not make your list of injured Giants starters, but Garcon makes ours? Tuck, Osi - both missed games last year. RAK, Carriker, Davis (who also did not miss the entire season), BW, - you wanna say Brown - go ahead - I knew he was damaged goods and his status was clearly up in the air before the year started. Here is an excerpt from Football Outsiders - you should read it before you say that NOBODY has Success with injuries.

Finally, two teams in 2011 were what you might call the Bizarro Eagles: teams that found a ton of success despite ranking among the most injured in the league. You might also call them "last year's Super Bowl participants." Both the New York Giants and New England Patriots ranked in the bottom quartile of total AGL, and both saw their defenses decimated by injury over the course of the season.

For New England, almost half of their 57.6 AGL on defense came in the secondary (27.6), which is bad news for a team that has five or more defensive backs on the field over 60 percent of the time. For New York, last year's injury headlines were about the secondary and defensive line, but the largest AGL contribution on defense was from linebackers (23.4 out of 53.2). By the time Super Bowl XLVI came around, the Giants were down to their fourth-string middle linebacker, Chase Blackburn, who ironically ended up making the signature defensive play of the game.

Although the Patriots and Giants certainly deserve credit for successfully overcoming injuries last season, these weren't unprecedented feats by any means. In fact, last season marked the third year in a row -- and sixth time in the last nine years -- that the Super Bowl champion ranked in the bottom quartile of total AGL. It was also the third time in six years that both participants ranked 25th or lower.
Clearly then, as much as we talk about the importance of staying healthy, last year's Giants and Patriots showed us that doing so isn't necessary for a Super Bowl run. I guess you could say that last year's Eagles showed us that too, but not in a good way.

Next week, I'll profile the most- and least-injured team units from last season. Hint: The two most-injured units weren't even mentioned in today's article.

edit: you want to say we lost Starters - all these championship teams referenced in the article above may or may not have been starters. Roy Helu, BW, Jammal Brown - basically everyone except RAK, Carriker, and Davis (who again was not lost for the entire year) - would not be starters on alot of teams. Bottom line is that we lost three really good players - three for the year. Rak, Carriker, Davis.

I do have to say that according to HTTR/LL, that had they sat Garcon down earlier instead of allowing him to play on it (injuring it more), there is a good chance he would be fully healthy by now. I do believe he stated that Garcon damaged it more by playing on it.

That's a huge strike against the training guys. Now is that have any merit on the actual injuries themselves? Hell no. You can't strengthen a ligament. (ACL/MCL) You can only do so much to prevent a injury before the inevitable happens. That's why you have to have a lot of luck to win it all.

I guess this is the new fire Shanahan thread for this week.

Re: Brandon Meriweather, You Big Tease (Injury News)

The other thing to consider is that a top tier veteran QB can help a team overcome a lot of injury problems. Manning(s), Brady, Rogers.... these guys all had problems like ours and still made it all the way to the dance. I believe that in RGIII we have found our guy. He will be able to do that too. I just think that this year is to soon to expect those types of heroics. As good as he plays, I still see him miss a few big plays a game that I think he will be hitting regularly in a year or two and help to compensate for the injuries that happen in a violent sport like this.
Every team has injuries, today it was announced that Willis McGahee went out 6-8 weeks with a torn right MCL.

Dallas potentially lost their starting LT

Clay Matthews for GB has been out.

The list is never ending. I don't know how good, or bad, our strength and conditioning programs are. Supposedly when Shanahan got here they were one of the worst in the league, but are now getting better (moreso do to BA), but I don't know how to prove or disprove it. My point is, Every team's fans think their injuries are the worst, but I would be surprised if there was a statistically relevant amount more on the Skins team.
Gronk out too. Kills my fantasy team. More time for him to bang porn stars though;)

Helu was a starter last year and was injured in training camp. It was a surprise he wasn't IR'd from the get go. So yes, he is a starter.

Are Rak and Carikker coming back? NO. GONE FOR THE SEASON. Wow, they played 2 games!!! I think you know exactly what I mean when I say gone for the entire season. That means, they get injured and not coming back. In your Giants instance, those players came back. Only 2 starters did not come back. Those are the two I mentioned.

I know Osi/Tuck missed games, I CLEARLY stated that some of their starters missed games. You know why I didn't mention Amukamura? HE WASN'T STARTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just because he was a last 1st round pick doesn't mean he's a starter. As noted by him not starting ANY of those 7 games he played in.

Prince Amukamara NFL Football Statistics - Pro-Football-Reference.com

Also, he didn't have a injured foot that's caused him to be at 80% strength. Truthfully, Garcon shouldn't even be playing. Did you even notice he was on the field this past Sunday? I sure didn't.

I'm done with this. Until you find me proof that a team has dropped 7-8 starters for the remainder of the season and still excelled, then you are wasting your time. I debunked the claims of the 2011 Giants and 2010 Packers did so.

Also.. you're wrong.
